There was not much do to around the dungeon with no visitors entering into the dungeon. Even with nothing new to do, Evelyn still enjoys the time that she is able to freely spend on whatever she wants. It is during times such as this that she wishes she had books to read and games to play. Many days pass, and Evelyn only grew bored with the only tasks at hand that she could do. Writing and sketching out possible ideas for monsters for the dungeon is one of the things she enjoyed doing until she finally got to a bottleneck in creativity. Though the system had many species of monsters within, she is only interested in some of the more well-known ones. From many of the small collections of mythological creatures and from the mentions of types of creatures from games and books, they were the only ones that Evelyn knew.
There is still one of the services the system itself provides but she has not given it a try yet; it is the lottery draw. The lottery draw came in the form of the lottery spinner, a classic form of lottery in Japan. Depending on the color of the ball that drops out, that determines the prize that you win. There are three separate lotteries. One costs 10 DP, the next costs 1,000 DP and the last one rises up to 10,000 DP. Five colors were available to be drawn, White, blue, red, silver and then gold. White is the lowest prize and gold is the top prize. The prize multiplier basically went 1x, 3x, 10x, 50x and 100x. With it being no loss in doing the lottery, there is a set number of draws daily for each lottery spin. One could only spin the lowest 20 times, the second one 10 times and the final one only 3 times. Needless to say, the odds of hitting the grand prize is a mere one percent.
"Let me give it a go I suppose."
Tapping the floating UI, she navigates into the 10 DP spin. In it, it shows the daily and weekly prizes that were possible in each tier bracket, along with the percentage of each tier. For the golden tier, its daily prize consists of tier 4 healing potions and the weekly prize a silhouetted weapon with question marks. It also had a limited quantity of it being won through the lottery. The silver tier, tier 3 healing potions, and the weekly prize consist of earrings called the Frozen Tears. Then the rest of the other tiers follows the same patterns with the general prize being potions. The weekly prizes for those tiers were DP instead of actual items however and Evelyn could only win the weekly prizes a certain amount of times only. Paying no further attention to the prizes, with her DP in the hundred she plans on doing a couple of spins. Executing the lottery, a spin lottery appears out of thin air. Grabbing onto the handle, Evelyn starts to rotate it around and around. The hundred of balls within made many clacks within as they smack into the sides of the lottery and each other. Finally, a few moments later, a ball pops out. Red. The marble dissipates and transforms into a coupon. On it, it reads "Redeemable for 100DP". Evelyn had received the weekly prize instead of the daily. With the small newfound wealth, she decides to try some more. Spinning the lottery five more times and the results were expected; 3 whites, 1 blue, and another red. The three whites gave back the DP she used, the blue transformed into a vivid red healing potion, and the red transformed into a brilliant blue potion. She did not want to waste too much DP, so she wanted one more go. The clacking of the lottery becomes audible once again as she moves the handle.
A phenomenon happens. A golden flash of light appears out of nowhere followed with another clack. A golden ball drops out of the lottery spin. An object starts to materialize in front of her. A scythe. Its dark metallic sheen, along with its abyssal black coloring seems to absorb all lights hitting it. It reminds Evelyn of the vantablack material she had once seen in videos back on Earth. Its length made it a bit taller than Evelyn and the blade portion is close to the length of her arm. The whole scythe seems to be made from the same material. An abyssal steel scythe. Evelyn reads out the prize she won from the lottery. Grabbing the hovering weapon, its weight topples Evelyn forward. Her hands, along with the scythe, sinks into the snow. Realizing Evelyn needing assistance, Alice emerges out from behind Evelyn and grabs the scythe with both hands. She effortlessly picks it up and places it onto her shoulder. With the timely assist, Evelyn stands back up and stares.
"There is no way I can handle the weight of that."
Evelyn concludes that it would be better in the hands of Alice, who has more strength than Evelyn. It works out in the end, Alice needed a weapon before and now the scythe perfectly fits the need. The stark contrast of the one head shorter Alice wielding that gigantic scythe puts a comedic scene into her head.
"It is better than nothing."
Patting herself down, she makes way back into her hut and sits by the window in her chair. Alice tries to enter as well, holding the scythe upwards, but could not get in. The scythe kept on hitting the door frame. Her actions were similar to that of a dog with an enormous stick trying to get past the doorframe. Evelyn sighs at the sight but shortly after she giggles a bit in response. Standing back up she makes her way towards Alice, trying to somehow get both her and the scythe past the entrance of the thatched hut.
"She is quite endearing."
Evelyn thinks to herself as Alice finally makes her way through the door. A smile warming up the cold and expressionless face of Evelyn's.
