章節 2: Mansion

"We're here miss."

"Thank you for picking me up, Allan" Morgan said.

Upon entering the mansion, Morgan saw her father browsing through some documents and her mother looking at her ipad.

"Welcome back, young miss!" exclaimed Ruper and echoed the maids.

Ruper was teary-eyed upon seeing the young miss. My God! The miss grew up marvelously beautiful. "We'll catch up later, Ruper. And I expect some cream puffs with my name on it." Morgan warmly smiled at Ruper. She did miss the old guy.

Hearing the servants greet Morgan, the latter's parents both looked up.

"You've arrived" father said.

"How was your flight? We already prepared your room for you" mother said.

"Father, you did request my presence. And mother, I won't be staying here so I won't be needing my room. Let's cut to the chase, what do you need from me?" Morgan responded indifferently as she sat on the sofa and leaned back.

"Watch your tone. We are still your parents" father wearily responded.

Morgan only smirked at him. Looking at her mother, she asked "I've heard that one of your doctors messed up big time causing irreversible damage to a member of the Archibald family. That's why I'm here, isn't it? You're going to use me to settle the matter as a sign of good will and as a means of apology?"

Morgan's parents quieted. The Archibalds is one of the 5 powerhouses of the country along with the Vanderbilts and plenty of their business are interconnected.

"I hit the mark, yes? So much for calling yourselves my parents. But my answer is no. This is not my problem to fix. I don't owe that family anything. And in case you forgot, their son is my ex who only broke my heart, caused the death of my best friend, and ruined several relationships I had with others. You didn't care for me years ago. Why would I care for you now?" Morgan coldly stated. After which, she stood up.

"Morgan, I know we were not the best parents to you, but please consider it. We had a good relationship with them for so long, I want said relationship to remain" father said.

"Let her be, Sebastian. She's right. This is not her problem" mother sighed. She sensed a dangerous aura emanating from her daughter. Warning bells were telling her that it wouldn't be good if they push her.

Passing Ruper, Morgan said dejectedly "Ruper, I'm afraid my cream puffs will have to wait."

"I know this was going to happen, so I already put it in a to go box, miss." Ruper then gave Morgan a box containing her cream puffs. Ruper already prepared the cream puffs hours ago as he knew it was one of Morgan's favorites.

"Thank you, Ruper. Not just for this but for everything" whispered Morgan while hugging Ruper. "Anything for you, miss" Ruper whispered back. If only he can help the family mend their relationship. Ruper let go of Morgan somberly. Catching up was apparently not on the menu today.

"Do take care, miss." Morgan smiled, happy that she still get to have her cream puffs. Ruper's cream puffs? Certainly the best in the world! Maybe she should poach Ruper from her parents and build a dessert shop? Hmmm

The new maids were dumbstruck upon seeing Morgan up close. Wow! She is our young miss? She's like a goddess who decided to descend earth because she was bored with doing heavenly things. She's beyond gorgeous even without makeup. Sadly, they won't be seeing much of this beauty (collective sigh).

Waiting for Allan in the foyer, Morgan closed her eyes and thought back to the events 8 years ago...
