章節 2: BIRTHDAY GIFT
As I jolted awake, a loud bang shook the darkness outside my room. I turned to my bedside clock, the glowing numbers reading 4:00 AM. Groggy and disoriented, I threw off the covers and approached the door, the creaking floorboards beneath my feet echoing through the silence. The sound seemed to emanate from the abandoned storage room, a place untouched for years. I hesitated, wondering if my sleep-addled brain was playing tricks on me. But another bang confirmed my suspicions.
I crept closer, my heart racing with every step. The storage room door was ajar, revealing two shadowy figures in black, their shovels digging into the floor with a rhythmic thud. My mind raced as I realized the sinister implications of their actions. Yue Fang's cold voice sent a chill down my spine. "Dig faster, it's her birthday today. I want her to have a gift she'll never forget... a grave to join her parents."
" but boss is it right to do this to your cousin ?" one of the men ask
" of course what else does that bitch deserve? " Yue Fang replied with a question
" I bet your parents doesn't know about this if not we wouldn't have been doing this when everyone is asleep " another said
" ha ha, you think I'll be able to pull this off without my parents agreement, although I'm the one carrying out this plan, my parents are the master mind of it haha" he laughed like he wasn't talking about burying someone, while the others laughed with him
" now tell me isn't this the best gift ever?" Yue Fang ask
" yes yes " the men answered in uniform.
" but boss can I get a taste of her before burying her"
" do whatever you like " Yue Fang replied
" me too I'll join in the fun" the other guy says with so much excitement.
and they all started laughing...
The men's lewd comments and Yue Fang's calculating laughter made my blood run cold. I felt trapped, unable to move or speak. Yue Fang's words dripped with malice, his plan unfolding like a macabre puzzle. The surprise party, the office handover, all a ruse to lure me into their trap. I was to be buried alive, a victim of their twisted scheme.
The darkness seemed to closing in around me. I knew I had to escape, but fear paralyzed me. Yue Fang's remorseless expression and the men's eager compliance left me with a sense of hopelessness. I was trapped, with no escape from the horror that awaited me.
But I was determined to foil their plans. I knew I had to act fast, and I was convinced that God had given me a chance to change the course of events. With newfound hope, I packed a small bag and prepared to escape, unsure of where I would go but determined to flee. I took a bath, completed my chores, and pretended to be oblivious to the sinister plot.
After breakfast, I retired to my room, waiting for the evening's events to unfold. But my aunt and Yue Rong burst in, interrupting my brief rest. My aunt held a blue dress and black heels, while Yue Rong's gaze pierced through me like a dagger. I remained calm, unfazed by her hostility.
"What do you want?" I asked, my voice laced with indifference.
"I brought you a dress and shoes for your birthday celebration tonight," my aunt replied, her tone condescending.
I rolled my eyes, feigning disinterest. "Oh, how thoughtful."
My aunt sneered, "You're a foolish girl, Yue Ling. If you don't dress up and behave, you'll only embarrass yourself. You'll never compare to my Rong Rong's beauty."
Yue Rong blushed and laughed, her mother's praise evident in her smile. "Mother, stop," she said, exiting the room with a smug expression.
Their departure left me with a sense of resolve. I knew I had to escape, and I was ready to take control of my fate.
