章節 2: To Write or Not to Write?

*****

My friends who had long known me, liked to tease me and call me a health freak. Every time I shopped, I would choose 'healthy products' such as high calcium yoghurt, low fat milk, less sugar drinks and many more. I was so concerned about what I put into my body.

However, without realizing it, I had forgotten my healthy eating habit and took excessive amount of sugar over the years.

It all started in March or April three years ago. I was in my sixth semester and I had to attend industrial training for four months in order to complete my credit hours before graduating. It was a torturous time for me. Four torturous months! I was really stressed. At that time, I started forgetting about my healthy eating habits and tried to overcome the pressure I had by eating non-stop. Apart from carbohydrates that I took for breakfasts, lunches and dinners, I also had cookies, jellies, chocolates, nuts, ice creams, biscuits and a jug of hot tea every day while I was working.

This habit continued until I started working at La Nona. What was in my head was 'If I cannot please my heart with this work, at least these food can make me happy'.

Well, I know many of you out there who wonder why I'm suddenly talking about this. The main reason I'm concerned about this is because my face that has always been clear has begun to break out. It takes a long time to heal and scars are too hard to get rid of. Is it because of sugar?

Some people say that if the sugar content in our blood is high, it is difficult to get rid of the scar. Is it a fact or a myth? Can sugar in one's blood increase dramatically in three years? Ah! Help!

I was at Dr. Love Cafe, reading a post written for my personal blog. To be honest, that was not the topic I wanted to write at first. As soon as I opened my computer, what I thought was about Zara Murad and Shazlin Shah. However, I could not simply write about the two women because I knew that if I had done it, some people would start speculating as a result of a big fight between the two.

Zara Murad was the chief executive of La Nona, a leading cosmetics and health company in Malaysia. Shazlin Shah was the chief executive assistant and the second most important person there. I was Shazlin's assistant for more than two years and during that period, I had always wanted to write about Zara and Shazlin in my blog.

However, whenever I wanted to construct a sentence, I felt that something tried to stop me from doing it. Shazlin once said to me, "Marina, you can write anything you want about me, but be careful when you want to write about Zara, you know who Zara is, don't you?"
