She could hear them say "Don't bother her, she is no fun, she is a defect, she is weird, you might get infected if you get close to her". These were some of the hurtful words that was thrown to her face like her existence did not matter. Her parents words were still fresh in her memory even though that conversation that she happened to eavesdrop not intentionally took place 25 years ago when she was at a tender age of 2 years old.
That particular night she woke up from sleep to get her water bottle that was placed on a table near her room door and was greeted by hushed whispering between her parents. They were standing outside her room door hesitating to enter and in the end, they ended up discussing about her.
"This daughter is not normal, no matter how I try to love her, I can't and sometimes I feel like she is being possessed by another being. She doesn't speak, she doesn't like to be touch and she fancies puzzles and number"
"Nonsense. I agree she is weird but I don't think she is possessed."
"She always has that intense stare in addition to her expressionless face. I have this feeling that my soul will be snatched by her if I continue looking into her blue eyes and I might die an early death"
"We've been standing here for God knows how long and we still standing here. Are we entering?"
"I don't want to. I don't think it matters. She doesn't seem to have any emotions. I wish that she was never born then I won't have to deal with this."
"Why don't we just make more? I am sure not all will turn out like her."
She then heard her mother giggled and they just left. She understood their every words, she is already a genius at that age but they just can't see her potential because they were too worried she is weird. She wanted to respond to them but somehow that programming part of her brain wasn't working.
She did not cry when she entered the world and she did not even make a sound until she was 5 years old. Her family thought she was mute and deaf but in actual fact she is just so sensitive to sound and even to sounds that people can't hear. Their jeers and mockery just jab her heart and soul but she just can't respond to them. She just don't know how and she hated their touch. She felt that they were rough and unfeeling towards her.
She started walking at the age of 6 months and since then she would squirmed her way out of her parents grip and hold. She could understand human language clearly at the age of 4 months and it was since then she had some understanding that her parents see her like an alien. She is the eldest of 3 siblings but none showed any care or love towards her. Instead she was alienated and shunned.
They were embarrassed of her existence. She knew that the presence of her other siblings brought comfort to her parents because she heard them rejoice in delighted tone that they were not like her. NOT LIKE HER. She is their biggest regret and mistake.
