Mei Ling looked at the Mers sitting in the living room and at the gossiper Du Xun. Suddenly, she knew why the villagers were giving her all sorts of gazes.
"Wait, you didn't know?" Du Xun's eyes widened. A lot of conjectures build upon her mind and dramatic stories piled up in her head.
"I don't remember marrying and agreeing to one." Mei Ling sighed. One person comes to her mind when seeing the Mers.
'Mother'.
Only her mother would do such a tyrannical move of forcing her to marry without her agreeing.
Mei Ling groaned and Du Xun immediately felt that her existence is not needed here anymore.
"Mei Ling, I'm going now~ Have fun." Du Xun grabbed her things and run away from the place.
Looking at the back of the running short woman, Mei Ling turned to the Mers.
"I'm sorry that I appeared like this. Let me clean myself up and we'll talk about things." Mei Ling nodded at the Mers and entered the kitchen with her prey, after settling in, she had gone to her room to wash up.
---
"She seems...polite," Jin commented. Lin, gazing at the calm back of his 'wife', nodded at Jin.
Rin gazed at the big deer in the kitchen. Their wife carried it with such ease and she didn't even seem tired.
"One thing is for sure though: She can work." Knowing this, Rin sighed in relief.
San, still not reconciled, snorted and pouted his pink lips. Han, who noticed he is going to act up again pinched his waist.
"Ouch, Han! I'm not doing anything!" San growled.
"But you're about to." Han patiently said, a stern warning evident in his ocean blue eyes.
"Han, just accept it. We're bought and now married." Rin rolled his eyes.
"Oh, if I can only have Rin's casualness." Lin sighed and fidgeted in his seat, nervous about the person coming out of her bedroom.
-----
Mei Ling departed her room wearing normal black house attire. Her long hair was tied in a yellow tie and the smell of blood on her body was gone.
The five Mers, looking at the clean face of their wife, have different thoughts in their mind.
'Her looks are top-notch.' Han habitually commented on his mind, taking a deep look at his wife's good-looking face.
'She's a cold beauty.' Jin categorized his wife and the follow-up schemes on how to woo a cold wife emerged in his mind.
'She looks capable. And have a nice body too.' Rin subconsciously hummed. (man's got priority)
'Would she accept us? She doesn't look like someone we can talk to, although she's very polite.' Lin became anxious.
'Hmph. She looks like a snub, she's not even a noble. What are you being haughty for, huh?' San's pout deepened.
Mei Ling, not aware of their thoughts, decided to be a good host and prepared some tea for her 'husbands'.
Mei Ling served them the tea and she sat in the seat in front of them.
"Well, is it perhaps my mother that bought the five of you?" Mei Ling asked, but her tone is certain.
Han, the most patient and gentle one answered, "Yes. Mother-in-law is generous to buy the five of us, considering that we are expensive."
"As expected." Mei Ling sighed. She doesn't know if she should accept her mother's generous 'gifts'.
Oh, well.
Lin became sad when the woman in front of them sighed, thinking that she was going to chase them out, on the contrary, the woman looked at the five of them before saying:
"I can't do anything about my mother's tyranny. She probably threatened the five of you to stay here by any means. I'm not going to make it hard for you all, you can stay here. The introduction was late but I'm Mei Ling."
Mei Ling thought that since the Mers were already here, she might as well accept them, after all, her mother is definitely going to vent to these Mers if she chased them out. She will just think of this as raising her brothers. She once raised her family into what they are now, she can raise five Mers by herself.
"This lowly one is Han. The one on my right is San, on my left is Lin, beside San is Rin, the one beside Lin is Jin."
"Han, you don't need to call yourself lowly, no one in my family is." Mei Ling gave out another sigh.
Mei Ling knew the status of Mers in this world, but as someone who came from a federation where there was no slavery, it was uncomfortable for her to hear a person refer to themselves as lowly.
