Kinley Cross lay her head back against to plush leather of the limo her head throbbing from all the stress and excitement that comes with traveling. Not that she was much of a traveler to tell the truth. Since she had left her hometown all those years ago she had stayed in the city until she traveled abroad. But she wasn't there to sight see. She went in order to study and prepare herself properly to take over the company that had been entrusted to her. She had been too young then, to unprepared, and most importantly too hurt by Logan's sudden passing so shortly after Helen was also taken from her. She frowned and pushed those painful emotions aside. Here she was after almost 4 long years. She was finally returning to the one place she had ever truly felt at home.
In a community just outside of the bustling Capitol where only the wealthy and elite could afford to live were large mansions set far apart from each other giving each home a feeling of privacy that the city just couldn't manage. Not that Kinley had ever minded the noise and constant energy of the city, but she knew that living out here would be best for her children. Just thinking of them made her smile and she couldn't resist opening her eyes to watch the two excited children crawling all over the limo despite melody's efforts to keep them in their seats properly.
Quinlan was six and full of unbridled energy and curiosity. His reddish brown hair was getting shaggy and she knew she would have to keep her promise and let him get the Mohawk he had been begging her for for the past year. His blue eyes twinkled as he kept just beyond Melody's grasp. He would need to start school this year and she wondered where the time went. As if knowing she was watching her turned to look at her and gave her a big happy grin. Thankfully traveling hadn't made him grumpy as she feared it might.
Beside him was Reganne her 3 year old daughter who was not quiet as energetic as her brother but she still couldn't keep still. Her light brown hair fell in hapless waves down her back and her own blue eyes a shade paler then her brothers kept a close on on Quin's every move. As always she watched her big brother with determination and attentiveness. Even so young she admired her brother and often got into trouble just trying to keep up with him. She knew that the flight had caused the restlessness in them. They wanted to get out and run and play. They weren't used to being trapped inside all day.
Melody was a young woman just a few years older then her. But unlike her she was tall at 5'10" with platinum blonde hair cut in a short bob with several steaks of pastel colors, blues and greens this week. Her face was round and cute and freckles dotted across her nose and cheeks giving her a very fresh and youthful feeling. Right how her thin lips were pursed tightly as she tried to keep Quin from breaking anything and keep Reganne from joining him. She wasn't sure what she would have done without Melody to watch her children. She was so much more then a nanny and to Kinley she felt closer then even a friend. she imagined that what she felt was more like a sibling relationship.
She paved path turned into gravel and Kinley knew that they were almost there. How many times had she come up this drive way back in those happy days? Enough to ingrain every inch of road into her heart. As the limo stopped 3 pairs of wide eyes turned to look at the house that she hoped they would all all come to feel as home.
Anyone want to help me out? I hate the naming of places. Anyone want to help me label the Country and Capitol?
Also I should have one to two more chapters up today depending on how crazy busy my household gets.
