章節 32: 32 Evil Valdis
Leo leans over and whispers in her ear, "this isn't your fault. You need to stop blaming yourself." He kisses her on the cheek and goes back to eating.
'I think she will be left in the right hands. Linda and Charles may you continue to guide her on the right path.' Julie watches the interaction between the two and smiles. "Dear, I will help you with making the lunches." She smiles at her partner and drinks some tea.
Kitty blushes when Leo kisses her and she picks up her milkshake and starts to drink it. 'How is he able to read me so well? My powers aren't completely connected to him yet. So how is he able to sense my emotions so well? Am I showing them on my face or is it because he is a hunter and can detect my emotions? It could also be that my powers are slightly shifting to him as well. There are too many unknowns.' She smiles and looks at Leo. "Thank you, Darling. Will, what can you update everyone on?"
"So far the information is the same. The hunters will be here in three days. It seems like that guy will be coming as well." Will says cryptically while looking at Leo.
Leo stands up and looks over at Will. "Are you sure that they are going to send Valdis?" His hands are hanging by his sides in fists. 'Why? Why now of all times is that asshole making a move!? Shit. I was not expecting that.' He looks around the table. "If Valdis is on his way he will bring a chemical that will drive any non-human crazy. The chemical is not dangerous to humans but the effects it will have on anyone that decides to stay will turn them absolutely mad."
Kitty looks at Leo in horror and she drops her cup on the floor. 'The same chemical that killed my parents?' Her body starts shaking in fear, "no, not that. Please, not that." She stands up and starts to walk away from the table. Tears start to stream down her cheeks. She feels her consciousness slip and she collapses.
Leo rushes to her side and catches her. He picks her up and carries her away from the group. He walks out and puts her in the van that they will be leaving in and he sits in the back. He lays her head on his lap. 'I shouldn't have let Kitsune ask if there was an update. She is in a delicate state as it is. Why, did I have to open my mouth and go on about the chemical? That was stupid of me.' He watches her transformation come undone. Leo runs his hand through her hair. "I'm sorry, my love." He looks down at her sadly.
The rest at the table froze. Will was the first to speak up. "Did I say something wrong?" He watches with deep concern in his eyes.
Julie had some tears running down her face. "N-no you did not, but Kitty's parents died from that very chemical. That is how she became the family head at a young age. She is rather unstable. At this point, no one could have guessed how she would react to the news." Julie wiped her tears away. "Thankfully, Leo was able to catch her. So she and the baby are both safe."
"That is what happened? Kitty never told me what happened even though I am her best friend. I never pushed it. I am glad that I did not." Cindy looks down and is no longer hungry.
Grant stands up, "I'm going to go ahead and start making the lunches it shouldn't take a lot of time. This is the only real thing I can do for Kitty. After all, she has done so much for each one of us." He walks away back to the kitchen.
"Oh my god. I did not realize that she had been through all that. Do you think Leo knew?" Will pushes his chair away from the table and texts Leo. ~I'm so sorry. I didn't know what had happened. Is she okay and do you need any help?~ No reply comes.
