A scout group of five men were sent to survey the plains and the surrounding areas while we waited in the forest. The forest was warm, a great place to relax after the frozen hell that we had to endure for seven days. Relaxing and slight training was all we could do before the got the all clear from the scouts. They came back after an hour and a half with a layout of the plains and the area towards Cambria's territory. To the south of the plains was Cambria's capital Datos with a few small towns scattered between, to the east were the mines, where most of their precious metals were found and only small villages were found in the north. With the info we had, we could attack the back of the capital while its forces were busy with our forces.
"Alright, we have a few days before the main forces attack and its best to disrupt the enemy the best that we can." General Roca
"What's this play, general?" a soldier asked
"I see three options, attack the capital, attack the mines or attack the villages." general Roca said
The first was an obvious suicide mission but would delay the enemy forces significantly, the second could cripple Cambria's economy which was dependent on gold and urk metal that was used in there weapons and armor. The third option would disperse the army into different villages but attacking innocents would leave a bad taste in our mouths.
"I believe attacking the mines would be best." Dune said among the whispers "It wouldn't make a big dent in the personnel but a lack of materials could make them desperate."
The idea was sound on paper but the lack of materials could make them reckless and lead them to sacrificing bodies.
"Can you give us a plan of attack?" general Nale asked
Dune started pacing while thinking of a plan before a voice came from the crowd.
"I think I have something."
All eyes fell on the location of the voice revealing a short man, no older than 20.
"What's your name?" general Nale asked
"Deacon, sir." he replied
"Well deacon, what do you have in mind." Dune said
"Sir, planting some spies to work in the mines and relay information to us would help with the attack." Deacon said
"How?"
"Cambria allows slavery, so the mines are probably filled with slaves and criminals waiting to revolt and get their freedom." he explained "Instigating a riot a few days before the battle would disrupt the harvesting of materials and split the enemy forces in two."
Deacons plan sounded possible, with only sending a few mine into the mines while the rest lay in wait.
"Its good but how do we get into the mines in the first place?" general Nale asked
The question really stumped deacon as you could see one his face until Dune replied.
"The easy way to get in is to commit a crime and get caught."
"Do you think it would be that easy?" Roca asked skeptically
"Yes, the only thing that could wrong is if they decide to take a body part but from there you could just ask for the mines."
A good plan finally formed itself and all that was left now was to decide who were gonna get captured.
"Any volunteers?" Roca asked
No one in the crowd raised their hand, opting to think it over for a little. The mission was not as dangerous as the capital raid but a make shift plan like this could collapse at any moment.
"If its for Irinos, I'll do it."
"What's your name?" Dune asked
"Gin"
From Gin's appearance he would do well in the mines as he wasn't too tall but well built.
"If I do this and survive, my wife and kid will be proud."
"And your name."
"Dan" he replied
"If he's going then I got to go too."
"Ideo" Dan exclaimed
"As your brother, I need make sure you're alright." Ideo said
"Alright." Dan replied
The two men were big, not as big as Dune but bigger than all the other men in the group.
"This is perfect, you three will each sneak into a village, get captured and head to the mines." Nale said
"From there, you will recruit men into starting a riot on our signal, you'll know when." Roca added "Are we clear?"
"YES, SIR" they said in unison
All the pieces were finally in place, this plan can cripple the enemy supplies and even split their forces leading to a swift victory. Tomorrow would be the start of a mission that could potentially win this war as quickly as possible.
