Himiko sensed an odd warm air in here face, which eventually led her to open her eyes. Her vision was surrounded by various sceneries her mind couldn't have fathomed. The crimson sunrise just before her eyes, illuminating the endless ocean and warming up the sand on the beautiful beach. The cool ocean breeze waving through the door and cooling everyone who was still resting in the floor of the cabin.
However, her mind, eyes and heart were focused on a different entity.
A tranquil, defenseless face in front of her, expiring a faint amount of hot air at her face. The same situation she was trying to avoid last night, ended up replaying once more without her knowing.
Her face flushed, her eyes gleamed, "This... isn't close enough...", his lips were so close and looked so warm. "Is it okay... if I..."
As she closed in on Shuichi, the air emanating from his mouth got hotter and hotter, as she got closer to the source of it.
"Please.... I'm so.... close-" She could feel start feeling the human heat emanating from him. The distance between them have never been so small.
Yet for Himiko, she felt as if she was still far away from him.
She needed to feel it. She needed to realize if Shuichi is truly the one for her.
The doubt in her head wouldn't go away. Maybe this was the way to make it disappear. Nonetheless, destiny had other plans in mind.
A cool summer breeze blasted open both of the doors, leading to the beach.
Himiko panicked, retreating to her sleeping position. Hanging tight onto her pillow, as Shuichi woke from his slumber relatively quickly.
"Who's... there?" Shuichi opened his eyes looking for someone around the room, just to find a sleeping Himiko laying by her side. Back turned to him, same place as she was last night.
"Himiko?" Shuichi closed up on her, trying to figure if that noise woke her up.
"Ny....eh..." A faint noise emanated from Himiko with her back still turned, faking up any sleeping noise that could come to her mind.
"Even that didn't wake her up?" Before Shuichi could finish his thought, the speakers started resonating at the sound of a calm chime.
"Good morning everyone! These are your favorite advisors Tsumugi and Rantaro" Tsumugi's cheerful tone echoed through the cabin. "The first challenge is about to start! Please get ready, we will have a second announcement in five minutes, so get up already!" With those last words, the announcement ended.
"Well, I might as well wake her up" Shuichi closed up on Himiko, while putting a hand on her back to sway her until she awakes.
"Nyegh?!" The sudden contact didn't bode well with Himiko. She immediately stood up in one swift movement, leaving Shuichi surprised and speechless.
Himiko took a second to compose herself and get into character, before turning around to meet Shuichi's eyes.
"Were you up already?" Shuichi asked with a smile in his face.
"HA! A true magician is always wary of her surroundings!" Himiko once again went back to her usual self, trying to play along with what just happened.
*DING DONG*
"Ahem, everyone, please gather at the entrance bridge of your islands for your first team challenge" Rantaro's soft voice echoed through the speakers around the island.
"Let's catch up with everyone, shall we?" Said Shuichi with a smile that once again reached the depths of Himiko's heart. How was it so easy for him to touch her this way. He didn't need a physical touch, or words of love and care. Something about him shinned uncontrollably in the eyes of Himiko.
"Yeah... let's go" They started making their way towards the bridge, where a new but unknown challenge will be posed in front of them.
By the time the pair arrived, both Angie and Gonta were already waiting for instructions by the bridge.
"Shuichi! Himiko! Hurry up, someone's coming!" Angie screamed towards the still distant figures of the pair. However, they started gazing towards the bridge, where a figure was definitely approaching, but they just couldn't make out who it was. They hurried their steps and as they got closer, they could slowly start to identify the figure. For Shuichi the figure started to look more familiar.
"Hey everyone, I hope that you accustomed yourselves to your provisional home, now it's going to get a bit more tricky" The person standing in front of them was none other than Shuichi's tutor Hajime Hinata. "I know it can be nerve wracking thinking about food and shelter, but don't worry, we will never put you in danger. We are surveying every part of the island constantly, so we are always taking care of you"
It was impressive how kind and thoughtful every tutor was, despite the hell everyone went through in the simulator. Maybe it was their way of easing everyone of any kind of stress or anxiety, this wasn't the simulation they went through. It was finally a place where people could cohabit in perfect peace, and the tutors were in charge of developing this environment.
"Okay now that we are all here, I will give you the first island challenge" Hajime proceeded to take out a folded piece of paper from his back pocket. He started unfolding in front of us, revealing the images that were printed on it. "For this challenge you will need to seek four items, that were placed somewhere around this island" He raised the piece of paper to eye level, "Each item represents a memoir of each one of you" It was a map of the island, with the faces of the four students residing on the island. "You will find the location of each one of your memoirs in this map, however there is a catch" Obviously this wasn't going to be your traditional treasure hunt. "All four of you must find each of these memoirs together. If one of you is missing, we cannot accept the retrieval of the memoir. Once you've found all four, bring them back to me to this bridge by the end of tomorrow" Hajime handed the map to Shuichi, "Take care of it, you'll only get one. If you complete your challenge before the deadline, we will give you another commodity to add to your cabin. Now, are there any questions?" One hand was raised as soon as the question popped.
"Yes Shuichi?"
"Why are we required to seek for this together, we could split up and find everything in a few hours if we are lucky" Shuichi's notion of the assignment was not incorrect, however he knew that the set conditions had to mean something.
"Unfortunately, I cannot answer that question. I'll just spoil the fun, so please just go with it for now. You'll understand in its due time" Hajime's words couldn't answer Shuichi's question. However, with this, it is obvious that there has to be another element included in this hunt. What could it be?
"Good luck! And happy hunting" Hajime smiled with those perturbing eyes, that ironically enough exuded nothing but kindness.
