Since I covered sneezing, it only makes sense to cover coughing too. A cough can almost be seen as a weaker sneeze. It only travels at around 80 kmh, half the speed of a sneeze, and shoots out only around 3,000 germs, less than 1/33 of the amount contained in a sneeze. It doesn't matter if you're sneezing or coughing, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue. If you don't have a tissue DO NOT use your hands. Instead use your elbow to cover your sneeze/cough. If you use your hands, you'll infest your hands which you might then use to shake someone's hand, open a door, touch things and generally just further spreading the germs. It's nasty, just don't do it.
Did you know that surgeons aren't allowed to turn away from a patient when they cough. This is because if the surgeon turned away, the surgeon would then be directly coughing on the patient as the cough would would shoot out the sides of the mask.
Whooping cough is one disease that can be fatal, mainly just for babies, and is centered on coughing. It is also known as the 100-day cough and the name alone sounds dreadful. It is highly contagious, will cause violent rapid coughing, fever, sore watery eyes, and even a bit of sneezing. This often makes it so that the patient will have trouble breathing. The whooping cough will also cause coughing fits that are especially brutal at night that might even cause you to vomit or pass out. This is another disease that can easily be prevented with vaccines.
