章節 3: Not Intended *Carter*
I sat in the infirmary with Jaclyn. She glanced at me once and read a book she got from the nurse. I saw her eye.
"I never intended to hit you." I said to break the ice.
"Really? Then why am I in the infirmary, Carter?" she said as she put down the book.
"It was meant for Noah, not you. When he dodged it, you were hit. I'd never hit someone like you."
Her faced burned from light brown, to red. Then, the door opened to reveal her younger brother, Julius. He ran up and hugged his sister, clearly ignoring the blood spilling down his face.
"Sis, what happened?" he asked with concern.
"Him." she said as she pointed to me. "But what happened to you? You're bleeding!"
"I slipped and cut my face." he was clearly lying.
"Tell. The. Truth." she grabbed his arm and squeezed it.
"Okay, okay! There was a broken vase in the library and I fell on a shard!" he said until she released his arm.
'Why am I so jealous of a middle schooler?' I thought as I stared at the siblings hugging.
'Maybe it's because of how they get along. No, it's because she cares about him and I want her to care for me like that.' I thought as Jaclyn turned to me.
"W-were you staring at me?"
"No!" my face turned red.
She got up and started searching for bandaids. She found one and put it over the cut after cleaning it. Soon, she left with her brother and I stayed behind.
