After they all had fun chatting with their sponsors at the restaurant, everyone went to his own business as usual. Daryle led Nero to the tomb of Charles. They bought a bouquet of flowers from the small flower shop they run passed by then hailed a taxi to the cemetery.
"Does it still hurt losing him?" Nero asked while they were inside the taxi.
"What do you think Mr. Carlson? "She asked back.
"If he is your first love, it must be unforgettable. I hope you'll get over it the soonest possible time." he said.
She nodded. There's nothing more she can say. Although she is now married, she needed time to free herself from his memory. With Nero by her side, she is sure that she'll get over it more easily.
"It's enough that I have you. I just need some time, you know.." She said.
"I understand babe. I'm here for you now. " he said as he hugged her.
"We're here now. We have to walk from here cause there's no u-turn there. Uncle, please stop here and can you wait for us? Maybe ten minutes?" Daryle told the driver.
"Sure ma'am but the meter is running, is that okay?" The middle-aged driver replied.
"Doesn't matter, its hard to get a taxi from here. Please wait for us." She said as she turned to Nero. "Let's go, my love."
They arrived at Charles tomb. Daryle placed the bouquet of flowers down and held Nero's arm. She said,
"Nero, this is Charles Marquez. He has been my classmate since first year college. I learned from friends that he was secretly admiring me. When I learned about it, I also secretly observed him. Maybe it was because of school matters that I didn't find the leisure to look at him as a man. He has always been gentle and thoughful to me...that's why I readily said yes to him when he asked me to be his girlfriend just after our graduation. I could have said yes even before if he had asked me earlier. He was so happy when I said yes, we kissed our first kisses then...but later on that same day, he told me about his heart condition, that his life was about to end. I was so devastated but he said weird things that I throught were just empty passing words from his lips. He said he would donate his eyes to a single man and ask God to send that man to me. I didn't believe in that though. I just believe that what happened to him is God's way for us to meet each other. I just feel happy that I was able to reciprocate his love before he passed away. He was a great man, a real thoughtful public servant like his dad!" Daryle said her eulogy as they stood side by side.
"Daryle, rest assured that he is happy where he is now. I am here for you. I will love you the best way I could. His expression of love maybe different from mine but the intention is the same." Nero said.
"Yeah, I know. Thank you so much " She said as she nodded to the tomb.
"The taxi's waiting love, let's go now," She reminded herself. She also needed to go home to get ready for her exams tomorrow.
They asked the taxi driver to drive them straight home. Along the way, Daryle felt nervous and had butterflies in her stomach. She couldn't imagine how their first night as husband and wife will be. She had also in mind her exams tomorrow so she needed to take a good rest. 'This is so out of timing' she muttered inwardly.
"Daryle babe... how are you feeling right now about us?" Nero spoke as he squeezed her hand.
"Ahhhh...yeah, actually love, hmmmm... I should take rest early tonight because I will have a whole day of exams tomorrow. I don't want to feel uncomfortable while taking my exams, you know? Is it okay for you if we stay apart tonight." She said.
"Oh! just like last night right?" He said.
"Yup!" she said.
"Wowww!!! Mrs. Carlson!" Nero laughed.
"What's funny? Besides, we're under my dad's roof. Don't you think we should move out first before we do our thing?" she reasoned out.
"Sure sure sure, I know , I know." He nodded continuously.
"So please dont disturb me tonight Mr. Carlson. I need to wake up at five o'clock and leave at six AM. " Daryle informed him.
"Okay okay, no problem. I understand babe. I thought you are just getting nervous. " He teased.
Daryle looked away to the window to hide her just turned rosy red cheeks.
