Chapter 3: The Long Wait
"The new muskets are ready and will signal the corresponding amount of red flare if those berserkers appear at the front of the marching army. A green flare once they are done with their work." Commander Alfa reported to me as he walked into the officers tent. Strutting proudly at the accomplished task. His armour made his already tall and gallant frame look like a new born Giant.
Commander Alfa has always been a fool in front of me. A loyal and brave fool for a friend. He accomplishes his task but prefers to throw an overwhelming amount of men at the enemy instead of planning on how to counter a foe who loves to use the same tactic as him. He always expected any soldier to be as strong, as fast and as nimble as he is. With our scores at combat being tipped in my favour at 22 to 20.
I quickly gathered with the men at the front gates to brief them of their responsibility during this battle. Manpower seems thinly spread on the ground. When the cannon fired at a black and red spy blimp. The blimp moved in closer as if trying to send a message of arrogance over us not being able to take it out.
The Dark Siders were getting more arrogant with regards to their strategy.
" Everyone! Thank you for standing here with me today to fight off this invasion force. Today we have a much bigger and well organized enemy. I know that many of you want to get this battle done and over with. But it's my duty to keep you alive and definitely within my authority to send you home should I deem you unfit for combat. Our enemy have formed into ranks of 16 and 21 rows per phalanx. There are 7 phalanx. Outnumbering us by a thousand man. Out of the 4 companies we have. 2 will launch an ambush behind the Dark Siders support line and converters with us for the main event. All I ask of you is to do your best and protect the people you love at home. And the officers and I will do ours of keeping you alive. Battle stations and get ready for an attack within the hour."
The ground had already started to tremble from the incessant marching. Forecasting the arrival of the enemy.
