章節 61: The abyss of nothingness

//Author's note// So as you know I have been writing this novel so far in first person perspective, which is.....driving me bonkers. I don't want to start over, so I'm just gonna change the layout from this point and go back and edit a few chapters at a time. I will be using a third-person perspective from now on, it will allow me more literary freedom. Sorry for any kind of inconvenience or displeasure this may cause. //

The chaos of battle can be quite overwhelming, with so many options the surety of choice often becomes obscured in the moment.

Tide found himself for the first time in a while without direction, in the midst of a chaotic situation. Tide had a methodical mind that worked through things sequentially, so he forced his thoughts inward, starting with what he knew as he assessed the battle.

"Okay, so no immediate threat to me, the flame wall is keeping them at bay. The goblins seem to continously spawn. Something must be causing it, maybe the Pedastal? It's surrounded by some type of magic shield. Think! What type of magic is it? Order? Illusion? Maybe I can skirt the spell or redirect it? ".

The sounds of battle could be heard outside of the wall of fire surrounding Tide. That was when he noticed that the shield only covered the top of the pedestal to seemingly protect the hieroglyph. This sparked an idea and he quickly pulled out a scroll and used it.

Earth spear!

The spear of earth slammed into the bottom of the pedestal and the entire thing came crashing down. With a flicker of power, the shield dissapated, sending a surge of power into the room.

The holes began to close up with a grinding sound, stopping the respawn process of the goblin grunts.

" I did it!" Tide yelled as he thrust his hands upward in triumph.

"Good job!" Thorn yelled back as his sword lopped off the heads of two goblins at once. Secretly Thorn was glad this never ending a wave of goblins was fun, but his strength potion was going to run out soon which would make this exponentially harder.

After a few minutes Olaf and Thorn managed to slaughter the remaining golbin grunts. At Around the same time the flame wall dissipated revealing Tide sitting with the new hieroglyph still attached to the pedestal, creating scrolls. He had managed to make a fair stack of them.

Thorn used the key and Tide added the hieroglyph to his inventory. The spell was called Trace-Can determine the origins of a spell, trace its power source and provides information about the spell.

Seconds later the wall began to open up, instead of revealing stairs, it was a long bridge leading to a floating citadel surrounded in nothingness. The most ominous part was the blank, white nothingness that surrounded the castle, which made all three hesitate slightly. Something about the blank abyss was deadly and fearsome, but how can nothing be fierce?

Thorn nudge the prince, "We've came this far, let's see what your Father left you. "
