Christopher and Kaylee were now both sitting on the bed. Kaylee is facing Christopher's back. The words 'Marry me. ' Coming out of Christopher's mouth is like a miracle. She knew he hated commitments, yet he said those two words. "You see, I didn't mean it that way." A low and serious voice rang into her ears.
"What do you mean, then?"
Christopher let out a sigh. "You heard what Mom said back then, right?"
Kaylee frowned. "What is it?"
Christopher turned around to face her. "About my marriage."
Kaylee went silent for seconds. "You mean, your marriage with Sofia?"
Christopher nodded. "Something like that."
"Your point is?"
Christopher took a deep breath. "I know it's too much for me to ask you this favor, but believe me, I don't want to drag you into this. It's just that there's no way I would ask someone, given that we have a contract. I don't want to violate our contract. It's important to me."
Kaylee bit her lower lip. "So, basically you wanted to marry me instead of Sofia is that right?"
"Yes— I mean no. It's not like that. I don't want to take away all your freedom. After all, it's your choice who will you marry."
Kaylee smiled weakly because of his denial. 'The moment we sign our contract, you already took away my freedom, plus you have all the rights to ask me that favor. I already knew the moment I signed that contract, I could not allow myself to marry someone. I mean, I don't deserve it. You're always so kind to me, you respect me despite being just your bed partner. I am willing to do anything to help you. So, it doesn't matter to me if I am entering into that fake marriage with you. It'll actually make me happy.'
Christopher waved his hand in front of Kaylee. "You don't need to force yourself. I'm just asking, just in case. Don't worry, I'll find another way to deal with this marriage—"
"I'll do it."
Christopher looked at Kaylee, surprised. "What do you mean?"
Kaylee gulped. "I'll do anything you asked me to."
"You don't need to force yourself, Kaylee."
She smiled. "I'm not forcing myself, this is what I want to do, I will do it Top, anything." She held his hand. 'Anything, just for you.'
"You sure?" Kaylee nodded as she placed her hand into her right ear. "Come on, let me hear the plan."
Christopher stared at her blankly. He was about to go crazy thinking about this matter the whole day, yet when he said it, she didn't look bothered.
Kaylee blinked "Come on, tell me what am I supposed to do, when or where am I supposed to act?"
"Ah—Yeah." He told her about how her mother planned his marriage. Sofia is most likely the only woman around Christopher, who can possibly be his bride. At some point, it seems that Ethan and Sofia have a secret relationship, and Christopher is not interested in Sofia.
"So if the marriage is suddenly brought up, I just have to pretend to be your girlfriend." Christopher nodded. "And we're going to convince your Mom to postpone the wedding?"
Christopher nodded again. "Yes, that's the plan. And if we cannot convince her." He paused and then continued, "Will you marry me?"
Kaylee blinked twice. "I-I will."
"This kind of arrangement is a bit weird, right?" Christopher asked.
Kaylee nodded. "Sort of."
Christopher looked at Kaylee as he held her chin. Kaylee lightly pressed her lips together. Christopher moved closer. "I'm sorry, for dragging you all the way here, for making you do all of these. I'm sorry for everything." Christopher said with a low voice as his lips pressed against Kaylee's.
"Good night," Christopher said as he kissed Kaylee's forehead and helped her lay on the bed. "Go to sleep."
Kaylee looked away and lay down on the bed as she covered her body with a blanket. Christopher stood up and was about to leave when Kaylee held his hand. "How about you?"
He looked at the woman lying on his bed. "I can't finish a single work today. I need to finish some work, or I'll be late by the deadline."
Kaylee tightened her grip on Christopher's hand. "Do it tomorrow. I'll help you."
Christopher removed her hand from his hand and was going to place it on the bed, but Kaylee didn't let go of his hand. "Please?"
Christopher let out sighed. "Okay, let's sleep." Christopher lay down beside Kaylee, when he looked at the woman beside him, she had already closed her eyes. Kaylee automatically opened her eyes when his arm wrapped around her waist. She can feel his breath in her ears. He was too close to her, she could feel her heartbeat. 'What's wrong with me?' She thought to herself.
She just wanted to make sure that Christopher would go to bed, but she didn't expect that she would feel something like this. She must admit that Christopher is handsome and attractive, but every time he holds her, she feels safe. However, it's different now; it feels like her heart is about to explode.
Kaylee silently calmed her heart when she heard a low and husky voice in her right ear, "Can't sleep?"
Kaylee held her breath for seconds. "H-huh?"
She gulped as she bit her lower lip. "Yeah."
Christopher placed Kaylee's head on his chest, and his left hand caressed her hair as he held her left hand with his right hand. "Can you hear it?"
Kaylee blinked twice. "Huh? Yeah."
"What do you think?"
Kaylee blinked, she was about to look at Christopher when Christopher held back her head to his chest and tightened his grip on Kaylee's hand. "Don't look at me, I may not be able to stop myself if you look at me." He said as he kissed the woman's head.
Kaylee bit her lower lip. 'I may not be able to stop myself too, if you act like this.' Kaylee thought to herself.
Kaylee can clearly hear Christopher's heartbeat. Though, she was not sure why, but hearing the man's heartbeat calmed her down. 'I was just nervous, because of the sudden brought up about marriage right? I was just nervous because I might actually marry the man I don't love in the future right?' Kaylee kept biting her lower lip as she tried to convince herself.
"What are you thinking?"
Kaylee was taken aback because of a sudden break of the silence. "AHH!" Kaylee subconsciously held her mouth with her left hand.
Christopher frowned as he held Kaylee's shoulder and looked at her. Kaylee's hand was still on her mouth while her head was lowered. "Why, what's wrong?"
Christopher asked. Kaylee shook her head. "No, it's nothing."
Christopher removed Kaylee's hand from her mouth and held her on her chin to force her to look at him. His expression darkened. He touched Kaylee's lower lip with his thumb, "You're bleeding."
Kaylee removed his hand from her lips, and she gulped, "It's nothing. I accidentally bit my lower lip, and that's it." She said as she looked away.
Christopher held Kaylee's face and pressed his lips against Kaylee's. She blinked; she could taste the taste of blood coming from her lips. When Christopher pulled out, he met with Kaylee's eyes and sighed deeply. "I think..." In the next second, Kaylee fell into Christopher's arm as she buried her face into his chest.
'I think, Char is right. I think I like you.' Christopher thought to himself as he leaned his chin on Kaylee's head.
