章節 25: Self Control Is Important
"D-D-don't go!"
Alex spun around to direct his eyes on the girl laying in the bed. He sighed then gently released her hand that clutched on to his pants.
"Talia, what you're asking is not possible."
"Why?" Natalia pouted and dropped her head in disappointment.
"I have things to do. I'll get one of the hotel attendants to look after you." An expressionless Alex replied before leaving the downcast girl alone.
Outside her room door, Alex let out a long sigh. He clenched his teeth then headed to the elevator. When he got to the front desk, he kept his promise and asked the hotel manager on duty to send someone to check on Natalia. He got in his car and drove back to Lake-view.
The next morning Alex was in a rotten mood. He had not slept well, and Secretary Zhang's call only made things worst. The shopping mall design he proposed to the clients last week, had been approved. However, the clients were asking for a different facade and an additional piece which was not able to fit into the design. Even though Alex directed Arch.deZigns, he still had a few VIP clients he constructed architectural designs for.
The Nabins were one of his VIPs. They were very picky and often demanding with their designs, but Alex always delivered. Hearing that they were having issues with the design, he frowned then dialed their contracted construction company responsible for building the mall. After spending thirty minutes on the phone with his contractor, Alex came up with a solution. He called Secretary Zhang on his way to his office and asked him to arrange a meeting with the Nabins as early as possible.
It was a long and overwhelming day at work for Alex. He had meetings after meetings and days like this often made him grumpy.
On his way home, his mood had not gotten any better. So, when he got home, the very first thing he did was take a shower.
The shower instantly made him feel better. Without putting on clothes, he sluggishly headed down to the kitchen for a snack. He opened the pantry with one hand and used the other to dry his wet hair.
In the middle of drying his hair, Alex's doorbell rang, stunning him. No-one came to his condo unannounced and Secretary Zhang would have called before he came. The only person who had the nerve to show up without informing him first would be Juno. Alex furrowed his brow and walked to the door. He checked the security camera on the wall only to see there was a girl standing there. Her red-brown hair fell past her shoulders from her bent head. The only girl who knew where he stayed was Zunnie Bai.
He stood staring at her on the small screen beside him for a few seconds, indecisive on whether he should go put on clothes or not. In the end, he mischievously smiled and decided not to. He pulled the door open and asked with a surprised tone… "Miss Bai?"
Hearing her name Zunnie raised her head from the email she was reading. Her eyes grew wide as she stared at the half-naked hottie in front of her.
"Ahh…Umm… I…I'll come back some other time…" Zunnie quickly replied at the sight of his naked chest. Like a quick flash of lightning, she turned around to run off but was stopped in her tracks by the hand around her waist.
Alex reached out, pull her into his apartment and shut the door; then whispered in her ear, "Hi, please come in..."
He knew his actions would send her into a frenzy. He smiled inside but kept a cool face. He wondered if her heartbeat had increased.
When he noticed a shade of red on her ears, Alex let go of her waist and stepped back to stare at her. He had been taking in her every move. He grinned inside with satisfaction when he saw how embarrassed she was…
"I-I umm I came to return your bowls." Zunnie's eyes were fixated in the direction of the kitchen, avoiding his prying eyes. She stretched her hand with the bag toward him never looking in his direction.
'Ha-ha…so interesting and cute.' Alex amusingly thought and decided to tease her some more. He was enjoying every inch of her reactions.
He pulled her extended arm and brought her towards his bare chest. He wrapped his hand around her waist to prevent her from escaping and used his other hand to bring her face to meet his.
"Don't you think it's rude to not look someone in the eyes when speaking?"
Zunnie shook her head and tried to squirm her way out of his muscular grasp. She failed miserably. His amber eyes were gazing into her blue eyes. The teasing and naughty look in them earned hima frown fromhim.
"What are you doing?" She asked annoyed by his behavior.
"You haven't made eyes contact since you came in. I'm only helping you."
