"Hmm", Kaya took a deep breath and inhaled the smell of a new diary. A sluggish smell sucked into her small nose. She always likes the smell of new books. A phone rang.
"Hello", Kaya picked it up.
"Happy new year babe", Max was shouting from the other side.
"Happy new year Maxie", Kaya signed. How can be a person this cheerful in the morning of the first year after having the hangover from other night, she thought.
"Where are you?", Max asked.
"Bookshop. Buying some stuff.", Kaya replied reluctantly.
"Puff..", there was a childish laugh from the other end of the phone. "As suitable for the geek."A lady's voice was heard.
"Should I bring breakfast?", Kaya ignored Rhea's remark and asked Max.
"Oh yes sure sure. I would like to have some cereal.", Max replied.
"Got it."
"Hey sis, buy me….", before Rhea could speak Kaya disconnected the call and put the phone in the pocket.
"Just as I decided", Kaya was thinking to herself, "This year, I won't be bothered by these kids. And yes, new year resolution: I will write the diary every day… I mean night.", She giggled to herself. Lost in own thoughts, Kaya didn't notice the man in front of her and ran into him.
"Oh sorry.", She apologized and looked up at the man.
The man was quite matured, in his 40s and having a good built. He was tanned, maybe from the west coast, and was wearing a tuxedo without any external coat.
"It's alright," he murmured and left hurriedly.
Kaya kept on looking at him, dumbfounded. The temperature was about zero and feeling was badder than that. This is a normal winter in Boston. Kaya, herself was wearing thermals and woolen clothes with sweater and coat both. She had worn long thermal shoes with thick stockings. And this man! He was only wearing a tuxedo! Wait, who the hell wears a tuxedo at 10 AM of the new year? Kaya laughed to herself. What a start of the year! She picked up her diary that fell before and cleaned it. Then she hugged it close to her chest and walked towards the home thinking to write about this man in the first page. "Heh.. I got content to write for one whole page".
Little did she knew, that there are going to be more incidents which aren't going to accommodate in this small diary.
When Kaya reached the entrance of her house, she heard the noise of trucks. She turned around and observed there were 3 to 4 trucks coming towards her home.
"What's going on?", Kaya stepped down the staircases again and came towards the gate of fences.
The trucks took a left turn and stopped at the big bungalow.
"This can't be..", Kaya was shocked.
The bungalow belongs to the family which left a few years back. They were affluent and rich. The lady of the house was from the family of aristocrats in Scotland. They have two kids. Kaya was shocked to see the trucks. "Are they moving in again?", She thought.
At the same time, a black BMW came and parked inside. The back door opened, and the pair of legs with black stockings were seen. The girl came out. She was wearing a black beret and was carrying a green, knee-length thick fur hood overcoat. The door at other side opened and a man came out. He was tall and had black hair. He was wearing a black coat, and his hands were in his pockets.
Kaya stepped forward and came out of the gate. She was deciding to greet the new neighbors at the same time, the man turned around and his gaze fell onto Kaya. Kaya froze. "Those eyes." She couldn't forget those grey, crystal eyes. They were the reason she fell in love for the first time. The man has an oval face and his skin was almost white. His reddish lips were the prominent feature of his face. His cheekbones were slightly up and broad making him extremely handsome.
"Xavier….", Kaya was blank.
The man's gaze lingered on her for some moments and then he spoke to the girl beside him. Both of them turned around, started walking towards Kaya.
Kaya was standing there. The man came in front of her and extended his hand and said, "Long time no see Kaya!"
