章節 140: She's Gone (3)

Greg made it a point to talk heart to heart to Mark upon their arrival that early morning. Nobody knew what he told him but it somehow cleared Mark's anxiety and fear. When Greg spoke before the wedding ceremony proper earlier, he was actually declaring that the bride is not his daughter. That was an affirmation of Greg's intention and blessing for him to pursue Fem if he was still willing. Of course! He will by all means search for his woman!

All the guests were having a fun time admiring their peaceful and relaxing surroundings. The fantastic panoramic view of the mountains and hills, the cool breeze rippling the fine pine tree leaves, the clean wide meadow surrounded by tall trees and bushes and the long stretch of meadow where this dreamy wedding ceremony was held, made every guest's mood feeling revived. There were clicks of cameras here and there and seemed to be unending selfies.

Fresh anthurium flowers were arranged with ferns on both sides of the red carpet. The isles of the rows of monoblocks were tied with white cloths pinned with dangling fresh purple orchids. At the starting of the red carpet, there was an arched purple fresh bouginvilla flowers which served as the entrance to tge altar. White cloths were tied loosely around the shaded area like curtains accentuated by fresh purple orchids clipped in parts where they were tied. It was a indeed a very refreshing experience for people who spent their lives in the crowded city.

Mark remained calm and cool although out the ceremony although he was so uncomfortable watching his brother and Ysabel exchange their vows. This was suppose to be his wedding day! He and his lovely brude should be the ones standing there exchanging 'I do's. He had imagined himself in this situation a lot of times and he felt goosebumps of excitement every time this thought arises in his mind.

But where did his lovely bride go? Atleast, she should have called him and let him know how she is doing! Or atleast gave a bit of hint to where she went!

Only his grandparents knew how he was feeling right now. He appeared to be amiable for the sake of the guests and his grandpa's comrades, but deep down, he wanted to just disappear and search for his bride.

Mark saw Niel standing at the yard of the empty house. He was holding his cellphone as his fingers were busy typing.. Mark hurriedly approached him and pulled him to some distance where no one coukd hear them.

"Niel, are you sure your sister did not mention any place she might be going before she left?" Mark asked Niel coldly like he was suspecting him of hiding a precious thing.

Niel was dumbfounded and felt a bit of guilt for hiding the truth. Seeing this 'failed brother-in-law' he recalled the first time he saw him at aunty Ely's store back then. It had been three years past. Back then, he was suspicious of him when he suddenly left while aunty Ely was starting to probe who he really was. Of course, being an observant person himself, Niel suspected that he was just an imposter. The when his sister got hold of some letters later on that year, he just knew that they were from someone she knew from the city. He just suspected that his older sister was just making her charm work and was not serious with anyone....

Who might have known that this person was in fact serious of his easy-go-lucky older sister?

Just like now, although Niel didn't actually hear what his older sister said during their late night talk, he knew that whatever she decided to do was due to the fact that she is still young and willing to try everything.

"Sir, don't bother looking for her now. Even if she mentioned it to me, I think she must have gone somewhere else. You should know that sometimes, my sister says this and does that." Niel said unable to see this stoic man at his eyes.

"I understand, but what did she say when she left?" Mark asked further.

"It was for my parents though. She just told me to tell them she'll be fine and that she will come back soon to fix her mess. I'm afraid she has not said anything for you. She probably had in mind to call you but she left her cellphone." Niel said but turned nervous the moment his words left his lips. 'What will I do if he wants to have my sister's cellphone?' Niel thought. It was only actually the simcard that she left.

"Hmmm..okay!" Mark nodded and acted to turn away to go back beside his brother. However, he quickly thought of something and turned back to Niel.

"Do you have your phone with you? Mine has been drained just this morning." He said.

"Uhmmmm..." Niel gripped his cellphone from his pocket where he had been hiding his hand upon seeing Mark approach him " I've tried contacting my other older siblings but nobody knew about her disappearance, nor were they contacted by her." Niel said slowly bringing out his hand which was holding his phone. He was a bit reluctant to lend it.

"That's okay, can I have your phone number then, I want to get in touch with you for future concerns if it's okay." Mark observed that Niel was unwilling to lend his phone. He didn't want to admit that this young man was as smart as him.

"Send it to my number so I can check it later when I get to charge." Mark said then dictated his number.

"I got it sir." Niel said then slid back his cellphone into his pocket.

After the everyone had exhausted themselves from having fun, the guests started to hop into the helicopters to get back to the City. Dave's comrades were all pilots themselves as he himself is an excellent one.

Those who took tge armored vehicles had to hike back to the Brent's Hotel then from there, they can drive back to B City.

Mark piloted his grandfather's helicopter. JP and Ysabel needed to stay first while General Lee went ahead with the Arevalos.

.....

Tha night at the Arevalo's mansion, Mark went straight to the study upon shower. He emersed himself reading the reports if his elite men incharge of locating his woman.

However, none of them gave him a possible lead.

He plugged his cellphone to charge while turning it on to check Niel's message. There were so many text messages popping up that could have distracted his focus yet tried to be clear minded as much as possible. There were three new numbers that appeared and his brows furrowed. He called each one of them to confirm who they are. After hearing Niel's voice in the second call, he didn't bother to call the third one. The message however was stuck in his mind.

It read: [ Hey bro, I heard your bride left before your wedding day! Let me find her and make her mine.]

Mark ignored it and made a mental note to get back to that texter later.

Mark called his office at South City to ket them know he will be reporting back on duty tomorrow. Mark gave one of his secretary Niel's phone number.

"Dolphy, please check the calls and text messages that went in and out of that number, also the possible sources of reply messages, understood?" Mark commanded with his tired hoarse voice. He have not slept longer than two hours each night after his woman went missing.

"Got it Major, will get this ready by tomorrow. Any others sir?" Rodolph was an expert hacker and coder that was assigned as Mark's secretary since he was assigned at Central City.

"Oh, I actually have another one here. Please track where this number was when he sent this message to me! " Mark copy pasted the text message sent to him by the anonymous number then sent it to Rodolph.

"No problem Major. So we expect you back here tomorrow. See you then if there's nothing else." Rodolph was on night duty since Mark applied for an indefinite leave.

That night, Mark tried hard to sleep. Maybe itvwas because of the effect of the rive wine and his fatigue over the last several days that he was able to sleep well at last.
