The man stood still while his hazel eyes looked straight in front of him. He wore a simple black slim fit cotton t-shirt and a navy blue wrangler jeans with vintage washed leather boots. His wavy black hair was neatly finger-combed to the back and his angular rectangle face slightly tilted to the left while his lips smiled softly to the woman.
The past year, he had been receiving pictures of his wife through his brother-in-law and his men who were tasked to keep her safe. He truly regretted not being able to rush to her side the past 2 weeks when she was involved in an accident.
Even though it was not 'love at first sight' but it definitely was something. Remembering back to the night he pronounces their marriage vows, he has already decided that at no matter what cost, he will prevail with this marriage.
He even travelled to Country C two weeks after that night to meet with Kamari to tell him of his intention and he was truly glad that Kamari was not against the arrangement too. The only prerequisite was for Nazreen to make Hidayah accept him, himself.
However, due to his commitment to the military, he was posted to Country I for the past year and was unable to 'court' his wife.
"This is Nazreen, Mei Ling's husband." Loh Liwei introduced the man to the family. Total silence fell in the room. The elderly man's voice cut-off Nazreen's thoughts. Nazreen looked around him and nod his head while spreading his grin wider.
"WHAT! SINCE WHEN WERE YOU MARRIED, HIDAYAH?" Andrew, Anston's younger brother yapped. Anston smacked the back of Andrew's head and walked forward towards the guest.
"I'm Anston, Hidayah's cousin. I've been wanting to meet you for a long time…" Anston extended his hand towards Nazreen with the intention to shake the man's hand. Nazreen received Anston's hand and shook it lightly. But Anston had grabbed his hand fast and all Nazreen could do was to return it in fashion. The 2 men had silently started a war of strength.
"I've heard so much about you, Mr Anston," Nazreen replied. Both men were still gripping each other hands, tightening at every passing second.
"Okay, boys… play nice…" Jiang Ying Yue tried to dissuade the 'boys' from continuing with the childish fight. Anston released Nareen's hand and turn his back walking to his seat. Jessica then pulled her husband by his waist and hugged him while pinching his side. Anston tried to get away from the 'punishment' but Jessica's sharp claws had already taken its' roots into his flesh.
All this while, Hidayah was lost in her own thoughts. "Ling-er, why are you still standing there? Go and get your husband…" Loh Liwei sounded her. Still, in her daze, she didn't hear her grandfather's words or his sarcastic tone.
To be honest, Loh Liwei was quite disappointed with Hidayah's lack of response. He gripped Hidayah's hands in an attempt to break her trance. Feeling the pain, Hidayah abruptly turned her head towards her grandfather.
"Go and bring your husband here. Don't just stand there staring at the man like a school girl in love!" Loh Liwei reprimanded her in Chinese. The rest of the family, hearing the elder scolding the new matriarch laughed.
"Yéye!" Hidayah replied exasperatedly. Her face tinted red and feeling her face becoming hot, she turned away from the crowd. This made the room filled with louder laughter. Even Loh Liwei was laughing along.
"It's fine, yéye.., She's cute like that…" Nazreen also replied back in Chinese. Loh Liwei roared with delight. It seems his new grandson will have no trouble adjusting to the family.
