"Yes, De...Dewei..." Han Meili was clearly struggling to call him casually. She wanted to ask why but she wasn't able to find her voice.
"See you tonight at dinner." Chen Dewei dismissively told the woman as he sat back on his chair and started to open the files he just received.
Han Meili, although her questions were eating her up, bowed slightly and went out.
Her sanity was hanging by a thread.
She would never believe that Chen Dewei was serious to be engaged to her. He must have been planning something. And she's probably just another chess piece. She just hoped she's an important one thus he would not discard her right away.
She also hoped she would not fail him this time.
Han Meili aimlessly walked along the corridor when she heard someone called her followed by a rushing footsteps.
"Miss Mei! Wait!"
Han Meili stopped and looked blankly at the doctor when she turned around.
"You're seriously needed nutrition!" She said and dragged her by her hand.
"Doctor Su..." Han Meili wanted to ask if the doctor was aware that she's different but like always, she didn't complete her sentence. What's the point if the doctor knows?
Like her, she was probably confused with the sudden 'command'.
"Miss Mei, although I don't fully understand your circumstances, it's not good to make your body suffer. In this world, no one could help you other than yourself. So, please, follow what I would prepare for you. You badly needed to be in shape." Dr. Su said without looking at the woman.
Although three days were too short, she could still improve Miss Mei's situation. All she needed was her cooperation.
For the past few days, Dr. Su could sense the changes in the mansion but she just couldn't pin point what was it.
Finally, today she found it out.
She wasn't naive. She knew this Miss Mei was different from the one she treated earlier. Although the two women might have looked the same, their personalities were different.
Their eyes were the best evidence.
"Thank you."
Han Meili wanted to actually respond and tell the doctor that even she, could no longer help herself. But it still nice to hear someone giving her an advice and a genuine one.

"We did quite a lot today." Li Xiaozhi said while sitting lazily on the bed.
Han Meixiu who was arranging her quilt let out a slight laughed.
"We should run again tomorrow morning."
"If it's running I'm fine with it. But please, not the obstacle course again. I barely finish the two sets."
Li Xiaozhi heartily laughed.
"I was surprised you actually knew some rope knots. You were good when you were ascending and descending on that wall. It's Zijian, right? He taught you?" Li Xiaozhi continued. She already passed the feeling of loss the more she found out the positive changes of her best friend.
Now, she's feeling grateful.
"Yeah." Han Meixiu simply answered and a smile appeared on her face when she remembered those times.
"Meixiu, I noticed, you seemed to remember everything now. Why are you still staying here? Do you still need to do something?"
"I still need to confirm something. By the way, remember that you sent my documents back? How did you get them?"
"Oh, right. It was Brother Shan. He ordered his men to confiscate the documents that we had." Li Xiaozhi answered in a serious tone. Her playful voice earlier changed.
"You got caught?"
"Yeah. I always get caught. There was only one time that I didn't. It was when I partnered with you."
"Why did he order his men to barged in my apartment?" Han Meixiu wanted to know the side of Brother Shan. Although she believed the action was for their own good, she still wanted to know the reason.
"What we're doing was dangerous. Brother Shan was right. We are just like a tiny ant. We could easily be crushed." Li Xiaozhi answered dejectedly.
That time when her Brother Shan was scolding her, she understood the dangers of their investigation.
"There was another group who was monitoring us, I mean your apartment. It was only a matter time before they will discover what we're doing. And since we were investigating your parents whereabouts, they might think we know something we shouldn't have. We might end up....I'm sorry."
"It's okay Xiao Xiao. I just want to know the reason. You don't need to apologize."
"By the way, you said your mother already died. I was just curious. What happened to your father?"
"He disappeared." Han Meixiu answered and avoided Li Xiaozhi's gaze. She couldn't bring herself to tell her best friend the details. Something inside her was preventing her to explain further her circumstances.
Maybe because Li Xiaozhi's brothers were involved in the investigation of the organization both of her parents belong to or maybe she didn't want to see a disappointed or accusing look on her face.
She knew that Li Xiaozhi's a firm advocate of justice. If she would find out her parents identities, Han Meixiu couldn't handle her reaction. Besides, it might also not good for her to know more than necessary. What if the information she would share would make Li Xiaozhi life upside down?
She could never forgive herself.
Li Xiaozhi took her silence after saying those words and reaction as a sign of dejection.
"I'm sorry for asking."
Han Meixiu shook her head. "Thank you for being my friend Xiao Xiao." She said in a soft voice.
"Tsk! What is this? It's as if you're saying goodbye and this is the last night we're going to be together. Let me remind you, I'm here until you 'fully' recover okay? We still have few days left." Li Xiaozhi answered. She was trying not to get too emotional.
Han Meixiu's words made her eyes damp.
"Let's sleep in one bed tonight." Han Meixiu declared with a smile.
"What? Can you see the bed? It's too narrow!"
"We can move them together. Didn't we always do it before?" Han Meixiu reminded her.
"Fine." Li Xiaozhi didn't know why for some reason, she wanted to spoil Han Meixiu. In the past, this best friend of hers would ask her to sleep with her from time to time. It was probably when she would have occasional depression.
The two women moved the bed towards each other and arranged the bedding. It was like they were transported back when they were still students.
They continued to talk until they both couldn't open their eyes anymore and their words were no longer clear to be understood.
The two were suddenly awaken by a loud knock on their door.
Both subconsciously looked at the wall clock. Since it was luminous, they found out it was barely five in the morning.
The two didn't react until they heard the voice of the person outside.
"Li Xiaozhi."
'Brother Jin?'
'Major Li?'
"I'll get it." Li Xiaozhi got up and walked towards the door.
Probably the person outside heard her footsteps, he spoke again.
"You don't need to open the door."
Li Xiaozhi halted her steps.
"Brother Jin? What is it then?" She asked. Her voice was mixed with sleepiness and annoyance.
"Pack you things up. You need to leave as soon as possible. You're needed for questioning."
"Why?"
"You're roommate was found."
