As he swore revenge on my behalf, I began to get scared. What if he leaves and they find me first, what if he doesn't come back? The more thoughts went through my head, the more scared I became; the more scared I got, the worse I shook. He continued to hold me in his arms, trying his best to calm me down. As my shaking subsided he pulled back the covers and put me in bed. He turned to walk out and I grabbed him again and said, "Please don't leave me, I don't feel safe without you with me." He looked at me like I had lost my mind. He said, " I don't get you. You lost your home and everything you have ever known to vampires and yet, you practically beg for me to stay with you, even claiming you don't feel safe without me." I didn't know how to respond, as it didn't make sense to me either. So I said, "I cannot explain how I know, but you are different than them. I know you wouldn't hurt me. So please stay with me."
He walked back to the bed sitting beside me and forced me to lie back down. He began to run his fingers through my hair, making me feel relaxed and kind of fuzzy headed. His face was the last thing I saw, his voice the last thing I heard, before I slipped into a deep, dreamless slumber.
It’s definitely a contradiction. Spoiler alert! He’s not your typical vampire! It gets better and better.
