章節 72: Chapter 72: Unexpected Discovery

The clan leader's family graciously extended an invitation for Yun Che and his companions to take respite in their home. As a gesture of gratitude, both Yun Che and Retsu insisted on preparing a meal for their generous hosts, utilizing the supplies they had procured in New Moon City. Despite initial protests and humility from the Feng family, it became clear that the allure of a meal prepared by otherworldly chefs was too tempting to resist. Reluctantly, they accepted the offer, and soon enough, the aroma of a delectable feast filled the air.

As they savored the extraordinary dishes, Yun Che had the chance to observe the family more closely, realizing that they were the same individuals he had briefly encountered in the novel. This encounter gave him a deeper understanding of the characters and the unique circumstances they faced.

Feng Caiyun, the wife of Feng Baichuan and loving mother to the twins Feng Zu'er and Feng Xian'er, is a gentle and caring married woman with an aura of maturity that matches her striking crimson hair. Her cultivation has reached the impressive level of the tenth stage in the Elementary Profound Realm, reflecting her dedication and skill in the martial arts. At the age of around 25-26 years old, she exudes a captivating charm that even reminds Yun Che of an alluring Oba-san, a term used to describe a mature and attractive woman in a respectful manner. She is undeniably an alluring beauty, embodying both grace and strength.

Then, there was her son, Feng Zu'er, a spirited young boy, bears a distinctive phoenix mark on his youthful forehead. His ruffled, tousled hair adds to his energetic appearance, emphasizing his lively and curious nature. To him, Yun Che is more than just a regular cultivator; he sees him as an immortal warrior, a figure of unparalleled awe and admiration. This unwavering perception makes every interaction with Yun Che a thrilling experience for young Feng Zu'er, who never ceases to be captivated by the presence of such a formidable and revered figure. It kind of reminds him how people used to admire those anime heroes.

Feng Xian'er, the daughter and twin sister of Feng Zu'er, possessed bright eyes, a radiant smile, and was adorned in crimson attire, showcasing her striking resemblance to her mother. Despite her young age, her tender face exuded a budding beauty with delicate features and slender brows. She resembled a red butterfly, newly freed from its cocoon, fluttering with sweetness. The young girl seemed captivated by Yun Che, her gaze never leaving him as she followed his every move. Whenever he caught her staring, she would shyly run away, only to sneak glances at him again. Yun Che couldn't help but maintain a sheepish smile, unsure whether she admired him or was simply engrossed in her own form of innocent admiration.

Finally, Feng Baichuan, the clan leader, bore the unmistakable aura of authority and wisdom. His presence commanded respect, and his strong-willed demeanor hinted at the responsibilities he carried for his people. With a dignified countenance and a sense of unwavering dedication, he exuded the qualities expected of a leader.

His features were lined with the marks of age, a testament to the years he had spent protecting his village. Yet, there was a kindness in his eyes that softened his stern visage, revealing the compassionate core that guided his decisions. Feng Baichuan's attire, though simple, held an air of tradition and significance, reflective of his role as the guardian of the Phoenix Clan.

"Clan leader Feng, if you won't mind me asking, is it true that the clan is cursed?" Cang Yue finally voiced her curiosity, breaking the silence that had fallen over the table. The question hung in the air, creating a palpable tension.

The rest of the table fell into a hushed stillness. The wife, Feng Caiyun kept her thoughts to herself. The twins, Feng Zu'er and Feng Xian'er, were clueless, their eyes filled with innocence and curiosity.

"Immortal maiden, where did you come across such claims?" Feng Baichuan, the clan leader, asked Cang Yue with a measured tone, curiosity glinting in his eyes.

"It's been assumed as one of the closely guarded secrets of the Blue Wind Empire. Few outside cultivators are aware of this. I'm simply curious, as I've never heard of humans being cursed before," Cang Yue explained, her crimson hair cascading around her like a vibrant cloak.

In response, the clan leader remained silent. Instead, he revealed a hidden mark on his right shoulder, a dark crimson phoenix-shaped mark that served as undeniable proof of the curse they bore.

Feng Baichuan then asked, "Then, you must know the tale of this clan?"

"A part of it, but it's better to hear the version that comes directly from this very clan itself," Yun Che suggested, his gaze unwavering.

"Our Phoenix Clan has called these mountains home for a millennium. We settled near the remnants of the ancient Phoenix Grounds, which you can see over there," Feng Baichuan gestured toward an old ruin etched into the mountainside. It had once been a flourishing temple, but now lay in disrepair, shrouded in moss and vines. It stood as a silent witness to a bygone era when worshippers gathered to pay homage to the Phoenix God.

"The clan's seclusion kept outsiders at bay for centuries, with only the occasional harassment from mountain mercenaries. Our protective array shielded us from harm. However, about a year ago, those mercenaries vanished—likely falling victim to the very white-masked entities that now plague us," Feng Baichuan recounted, his voice heavy with sorrow as he revealed the darker side of their story.

As Yun Che listened, he realized that Feng Baichuan's narrative mirrored the backstory he had shared earlier, albeit with a more somber tone. The ancient phoenix sect's decline had been reduced to what the clan had become today. Yun Che knew this story well, but he allowed the clan leader to tell it in his own words, painting a vivid and graphic picture of their struggle.

While the others absorbed the story, Yun Che's mind wandered to thoughts of when he could summon his next companion. He had been eagerly awaiting the opportunity, but with Little Fairy and Cang Yue around him, it seemed impossible. He resigned himself to waiting until he entered the trial, where he could finally summon his next companion, knowing that the trial only allowed one entry.

The atmosphere in the room remained heavy with the weight of their shared history, a past that seemed to echo in the present, casting a shadow over the Phoenix Clan's future.

"The only way to end our curse is to pass the Phoenix Trial. If someone manages to succeed, the curse will be broken, and we can cultivate once more," Feng Baichuan explained, his eyes reflecting a glimmer of hope amid their desperate circumstances.

"Why haven't any young men or women attempted the trial yet?" Cang Yue inquired, her curiosity piqued by the village's predicament.

Feng Baichuan sighed before responding, "The Phoenix Ruins house the Phoenix Spirit, guarding the temple. It has imposed a restriction preventing us, the bloodline inheritors, from entering the trial grounds. However, it opens its doors to an outsider willing to undertake the challenge and inherit its legacy."

Yun Che, who had been silently listening, suddenly stood up, a grin spreading across his face. Feng Baichuan's eyes brimmed with hope as he began, "This old man wishes for..."

"I'll take it," Yun Che interjected, raising his hand and volunteering himself before Feng Baichuan could finish his sentence.

The ladies and Feng Baichuan turned their attention to Yun Che, their expressions a mixture of surprise and concern. Feng Baichuan hesitated, his worry evident. "But, immortal, the trial is dangerous. There's no way you could..."

"I'll be fine. Completing the Phoenix Trial will allow the village's men and women to cultivate once again, right? Then let me take it. Besides, I am in search of a challenge, and this trial is perfect," Yun Che asserted confidently.

Feng Baichuan bowed respectfully. "Then, you have my deepest gratitude."

Yun Che turned to the ladies and asked for their opinions. Little Fairy spoke first, her voice as cool as ever. "Personally, if you hadn't volunteered, I would have forced you to take the trial. I've already cultivated the Frozen Cloud Arts, so cultivating fire arts would be futile for me."

"Then, I'll be rooting for you, young master. I'll stay here and look after Yuechan-san and Yue-san," Retsu chimed in playfully, addressing Cang Yue and Little Fairy with honorifics.

"Yun Che, please be careful," Cang Yue said with a note of concern, her worry for him apparent despite her knowledge of his capabilities.

"Thank you, Cang Yue. Clan leader, I'll undertake the trial in a few days after some rest. Is there a place where we can spend the night?" Yun Che inquired, his tone composed and unhurried. He had ample time to prepare for the trial and summon his next companion.

Feng Baichuan nodded, offering their accommodations. "Certainly. The maidens can stay in one of the guest houses tonight, and my wife can accompany them there. As for you, immortal, you can stay at our place. We can spare a guest room for you."

Yun Che agreed with a simple nod. Feng Baichuan will guide them to the trial area a few days from, and with that, they prepared for the challenges that lay ahead, their fates intertwined with the cursed Phoenix Clan.

=============================

The night unfolded with merriment and laughter, the Phoenix Clan celebrating their miraculous escape from the clutches of the Hollows and the banishment of the menacing Menos Grande that had threatened their village. Villagers gathered around, indulging in the feast of delicious food and raising their cups in jubilant toasts.

Yun Che and Retsu, restricted by the system's limitations, had to abstain from the alcohol that flowed freely among the Phoenix Clan. Instead, they immersed themselves in the delightful world of fruit juices, crafted with care by the villagers. To their surprise, the juices turned out to be a delightful treat, far superior to the tasteless alcohol they were used to. Amidst the cheer, they reveled in the vibrant atmosphere.

It was during this celebration that they had the opportunity to mingle with the villagers and get a glimpse into their lives. The people of the mountains, they noticed, were remarkably kind and genuine, a stark contrast to the city's inhabitants. Despite their cursed status, these villagers carried themselves with dignity and optimism, showcasing their resilience.

Yun Che, although a guest of honor, remained humble and approachable, refusing to distance himself from the villagers. He was well aware that if the various sects ever discovered this secluded village, they might plunder its treasures or, worse, subjugate the clan to their whims. To the cursed people, he was simply a fellow traveler passing through, sharing in their joy.

However, his presence didn't go unnoticed, especially by the women who couldn't help but cast flirtatious glances his way. The situation became so comical that Retsu had to intercede by firmly holding his arm, staking her claim. What was even more intriguing was Cang Yue joining in on his other side, creating an impenetrable barrier of allure. While some women sighed in disappointment, others envied their glamorous company.

The same applied to the men who attempted to invite them for a drink. They would sit beside Yun Che with hopeful smiles, only to withdraw quietly as soon as they realized that no one wished to provoke the individual capable of conjuring destructive lightning strikes with a mere thought.

Amid the revelry, Feng Xian'er couldn't help but watch Yun Che with fascination. Her bright eyes sparkled with curiosity and admiration as she observed the handsome and enigmatic stranger. Gathering her courage, she decided to approach him.

With small, tentative steps, she reached Yun Che and addressed him in a voice as delicate as a whisper, "Thank you for saving our village, big brother."

Yun Che, deeply moved by her innocent gratitude, knelt down to her level, his demeanor warm and approachable. "You're welcome, little one. I'm glad I could help."

Feng Xian'er's face lit up with joy at his words, but shyness quickly overcame her. She uttered a quick "Goodbye" before dashing away, her laughter trailing behind her.

Retsu and Cang Yue couldn't help but exchange knowing glances, amused by the young girl's innocent admiration. It seemed that she had taken a liking to Yun Che, viewing him as a protective big brother.

Meanwhile, hidden in the shadows of the festivities, Feng Caiyun, Feng Xian'er's mother, observed her daughter's actions with a fond smile. She marveled at how easily Feng Xian'er made friends with others, yet turned shy in the presence of the kind-hearted "big brother" Yun Che. It was a heartwarming sight that added an extra layer of charm to the evening.

As the night's festivities continued, Yun Che couldn't help but chuckle to himself. He checked the information in the system and confirmed that Feng Xian'er was indeed one of the milestone characters. Although her role in the story was minor at her young age, her innocence and sweetness had left a lasting impression on him. He eagerly looked forward to witnessing her growth in the future.

------------

Under the sprawling branches of the ancient tree, Little Fairy found solace away from the festivities. She contemplated her journey over the past few months, which had brought her new experiences, cultures, and companions. She had traded solitude for camaraderie, sharing her adventures with Retsu and Cang Yue, her newfound friends. However, when her thoughts turned to Yun Che, her heart wavered in a way she couldn't quite understand. His presence brought her peace, yet her heart raced in his company. His teasing both irritated and delighted her. She wondered what would happen if this newfound world suddenly vanished.

As she pondered, her keen senses detected a subtle presence behind the tree, and she turned her gaze toward it. A shadow darted behind the tree trunk, but then a pair of bright eyes peeked out at her. Little Fairy, known for her cold demeanor, softened her gaze and offered soothing words, inviting the mysterious observer to reveal themselves.

With hesitation, a girl of about eight years emerged from behind the tree. She wore a small red dress and her hair was fashioned into two buns. Her eyes were bright and her brows slender, giving her a remarkable beauty despite her young age.

The little girl timidly held out a plate of fruits, her voice gentle as she introduced herself, "Ummm, My mommy didn't see you at the celebration so she asked me to bring you these."

Little Fairy accepted the gesture with gratitude and asked for the girl's name. "You're too kind, thank you. What is your name?"

With a bashful smile, the girl replied, "I am Feng Xian'er, big sister. Thank you for saving us. Thank you so much. My mommy isn't worried anymore."

Little Fairy recognized Xian'er as the daughter of the chief of the Phoenix clan, which explained the girl's purity and innocence. Despite her own stoic demeanor, Little Fairy found herself drawn to the child's unbridled kindness and curiosity. Moved by the child's innocence, Little Fairy continued to pet Xian'er's head affectionately. "It's okay. Big sister did it to save the nice villagers. Especially little Xian'er over here."

Xian'er's smile grew wider as she expressed her appreciation for Little Fairy's kindness. "Big sister is really nice just like the two pretty big sisters and big brother," she added, referring to Cang Yue, Retsu, and Yun Che.

Little Fairy's soothing voice extended an invitation to share a meal. Xian'er accepted with eagerness, and together, they enjoyed a simple feast under the tree. Little Fairy's usually stoic expression was now adorned with a warm and sweet smile, enchanting all who happened to glance her way.

As they dined, Xian'er's curiosity led her to inquire about the distinct energy she sensed from Little Fairy. "Big sister, why is your energy blue? Your energy is different from papa and mama's energy."

Responding to Xian'er's curiosity, Little Fairy demonstrated her Frozen Cloud Art. She extended her hand, and a graceful scene of snow and ice unfolded around them. Xian'er's eyes widened in awe as she witnessed the magical display.

"Wow, it's beautiful, big sister," Xian'er exclaimed, her eyes reflecting the beauty of the snowy scene. She began to play with the snow, captivated by the sensation of touching something she had never seen before.

Then, a creative spark ignited within Little Fairy, and she gathered the ice into her hand, shaping it into a delicate necklace resembling a snowflake, complete with an icy string. The snowflake pendant shimmered with an ethereal radiance, capturing Xian'er's rapt attention. Gently, Little Fairy offered the necklace to the young girl.

"*Sniff... sniff. Thank you, big sister. I'll treasure it for the rest of Xian'er's life. When I grow up, I want to be strong, pretty, and nice like big sister," Xian'er expressed her heartfelt gratitude, her eyes brimming with happiness as she adorned the necklace.

Little Fairy smiled warmly, her heart touched by Xian'er's sincerity. "Yes, it suits you just fine," she replied with tenderness.

As the day waned, Xian'er's energy finally waned, and she fell into peaceful slumber on Little Fairy's lap, clutching the precious ice necklace. Little Fairy watched over the sleeping child, her own face radiant with a smile. It was a rare sight, the once-aloof warrior allowing her heart to open.

Beneath the sprawling canopy of the tree, the world felt serene, a vast contrast from the usual chaotic turmoil. Yet, that tranquility was broken by a playful voice echoing in the air, "Never thought you'd have such a soft spot for kids."

Turning her head, Little Fairy wasn't surprised to find Yun Che casually descending beside her, dressed in his signature adventurer's outfit. In his hand, he held a cup of juice, taking leisurely sips.

She raised an eyebrow at him, "What brings you here, rascal?"

He grinned, "Xian'er's mother was searching for her, so I thought I'd lend a hand. Who'd have guessed she'd be here with you, hiding away? Retsu and Cang Yue? They got roped into trying on village outfits. I think they might be awhile." His gaze shifted to the sleeping child, noting the profound peace on her face.

"She wanted to thank me," Little Fairy remarked, the edges of her mouth hinting at a smile.

Yun Che chuckled, "She seems to have taken quite a shine to you. When it's me she's around, she bolts."

Little Fairy smirked, "Perhaps she recognizes your true nature as a lecher?"

He feigned offense, "Being called a lecher is a stretch. Why does everyone label me that way?"

She suppressed a laugh, "It's probably why she keeps her distance."

Shaking his head in mock exasperation, he leaned against the tree beside her, looking down at the sleeping Xian'er. "I genuinely didn't anticipate you having such an affection for children."

Little Fairy's gaze softened, "They represent pure innocence in a world tainted with ulterior motives. They haven't yet been corrupted. That purity... it's something I've always admired."

Seeing this softer side of her, Yun Che remarked with a teasing glint in his eyes, "You're quite different than the impression you give, you know? Beneath that icy exterior, there's warmth waiting to melt through."

She shot him a mock glare, "And what did you expect? A cold-hearted fairy?"

He grinned as that's how she used to be before she met him, "Something like that. But now? Watching you with Xian'er, you seem... endearing."

Little Fairy's face turned a shade redder, though she tried to conceal it. Yun Che's keen eyes didn't miss the brief blush. "See? Truth always has its way."

Brushing off his words with a faux haughtiness, she then revealed a tender truth, "This was one of my dreams, actually..."

He looked at her with a raised brow, taking another sip from his cup, "To be the strongest?"

"That's one of them, so I can protect the only family I have left." she admitted, a wistful tone creeping into her voice. "But my deepest dream..." She paused for a moment, gathering her thoughts, then softly confessed, "To have a daughter of my own."

The revelation hung in the air between them, a poignant pause that was abruptly shattered by the sound of Yun Che choking on his drink. He sputtered, water droplets spraying from his lips as he collapsed onto the ground in shock. As he finally recovered, eyes wide in disbelief, he blurted out, "Wait, what?"

Little Fairy regarded him with a mix of annoyance and amusement, her eyebrow arching. "Is it really that shocking?"

Yun Che propped himself up, still struggling to process the unexpected revelation. "I just... never imagined that the dream of the strongest cultivator underneath the Emperor Profound Realm from Frozen Cloud Asgard was... motherhood." In his past knowledge, he knew of the fate that had befallen her, a fate intertwined with his former self's actions. The realization that she had harbored such a dream all along caught him completely off guard.

Little Fairy's gaze turned distant as she spoke. "In the Asgard, we women are conditioned to suppress emotions, to shun love, for it signals the end of our cultivation. Our training is to protect our art – men can't learn the Frozen Cloud Arts, but they can take it from us."

Yun Che nodded solemnly. He was well aware of the harsh realities that faced the women of Frozen Cloud Asgard. Their art, once stolen, could lead to a fate worse than death. This makes him wonder. Little Fairy's unwavering trust in him ran deep, evidenced by her willingness to reveal the closely guarded secret of the Frozen Cloud Asgard, a taboo among her sect, even though he was a man.

She sighed softly, her voice tinged with melancholy. "I know it might seem silly to someone like you, but that's always been my dream – to find love, to have a family. Not the power, not the prestige."

Yun Che rose, dusting himself off, and met her gaze earnestly. "It's not silly. In fact, it's one of the most genuine dreams one can have. It speaks of a heart that desires connection, love. In our world, where power and status are everything, to dream of love and family... it's beautifully brave."

Little Fairy's usual icy façade melted, revealing a vulnerability Yun Che had never seen before. The word "Rascal" escaped her lips, but there was no venom in it, only a soft affection. She looked away to hide the blush that had crept up her cheeks, but her small smile betrayed her.

As the tranquil ambiance between Yun Che and Little Fairy deepened, a sudden rustling from the nearby bushes jarred them back to reality. Yun Che's eyes, sharp and discerning, narrowed. "No use hiding, you two. Might as well join our little chat," he called out, already suspecting the culprits.

Cang Yue and Retsu sheepishly emerged from their hiding spot, their attempts at playing innocent falling flat. Retsu, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, feigned surprise. "Ara, it seems we've been discovered, hasn't it?" she remarked with exaggerated innocence, sticking out her tongue playfully.

Meanwhile, Cang Yue, trying to muster as much dignity as she could, replied, "It's not as if we were spying out of jealousy, Yun Che." Her sidelong glance betrayed her, and the faintest blush tinged her cheeks. They had originally been engrossed in the festivities but, upon sensing Yun Che's energy mingling with Little Fairy's, their curiosity got the better of them.

Yun Che raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. "Of course not," he replied, sarcasm evident in his tone.

Retsu, always one to add fuel to the fire, sidled up to Little Fairy, whispering conspiratorially into her ear. "You know, sister YueChan, becoming a mother is indeed a beautiful dream. And, between us," she added with a wink, "I aim to be the first to carry his child."

Little Fairy's face turned a deep shade of crimson, her eyes wide in astonishment. "Sister Retsu!" she stammered, both scandalized and embarrassed by the bold proclamation. Retsu merely giggled, her playful demeanor contrasting with the gentle moonlight.

Yun Che couldn't help but marvel at Little Fairy's lack of concern regarding the secrets she had just revealed, knowing that Retsu and Cang Yue had overheard the taboo of her sect. This blatant display of trust spoke volumes about her faith in him. It also made him consider the possibility that she might have reciprocated this trust by sharing her own secrets, creating a bond of mutual trust and understanding between them. He remembered the moments when he had opened up to her about the nature of the Dead Spirit Realm, and it seemed that she had offered him a similar level of trust in return. The same with Cang Yue's secret as the Blue Wind Imperial Princess. It was a testament to the depth of their connection and the unspoken solidarity that had formed between their disparate worlds.

Watching the playful bickering and teasing unfold, Yun Che could only shake his head in amusement, thinking, "With these spirited women around, life is never going to be dull."

Unbeknownst to the party, a sinister shadow loomed in the distance, its cold eyes fixed on them. It muttered to itself, a sinister grin forming on its lips, "Those women are indeed divine beauties. The leader would be most pleased to possess them."

=======================

Deep within the rugged mountains, the Black Demon Mercenary Group found refuge from the relentless attacks of masked beasts. These mercenaries had settled in the vicinity of the Ten Thousand Beast Mountain Range a year ago, but their ranks had been decimated by these relentless creatures. With their numbers cut in half and unable to replenish their ranks due to the ongoing beast threat, the Black Demon Mercenary Group now consisted mostly of members ranging from the first to fifth levels of the Nascent Profound Realm, having lost most of their higher-level members.

Located deep in the rugged mountains surrounding the Phoenix Clan's territory, the cave used by the Black Demon Mercenary Group was well-hidden. Its entrance was concealed by vines and moss, blending it into the rocky surroundings. Inside, a dimly lit tunnel led to a spacious chamber with a high ceiling adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. The mercenaries had organized their equipment for easy access and defense. Overall, the cave served as a hidden and strategic base for the Black Demon Mercenary Group in the mountainous terrain near the Phoenix Clan.

"Damn it! At this rate, we'll all be corpses before the year's end!" bellowed their leader, the infamous Black Demon. A man notorious for his arrogance and lecherous inclinations, the Black Demon was a towering figure among the mercenaries. He was dressed in the tattered, rugged attire typical of his kind, a reflection of his unruly nature. His insatiable desires and licentious conduct had long made his fellow mercenaries uneasy in his presence, but now, survival forced them to heed his reckless leadership.

"If we can just slip past those cursed masked beasts, we can politely approach the Phoenix Clan and kindly ask for their food and treasures," mused one of the mercenaries, his eyes gleaming with a mix of greed and desperation.

"Blacky! How in the world did you manage to get out? I thought you were hiding within the Phoenix Clan," another mercenary exclaimed in surprise.

"I was, my friend, but something extraordinary happened. Those vile masked beasts ceased their relentless assault. It was as though they were smitten by lightning bolts from the very heavens. I saw my chance and made a hasty return," Blacky explained, his voice filled with a newfound hope.

"Isn't the village protected by some sort of protective array?" someone inquired, their curiosity piqued.

Blacky leaned in and whispered, "I've learned that the clan leader temporarily disabled the array to fix it. It's the perfect opportunity."

A wicked grin spread across Black Demon's face as he contemplated their newfound advantage. "Then, my fellow brethren, we shall rally our forces and descend upon the village like a merciless tempest. We shall plunder their food and water, and perhaps, if the heavens truly favor us, we shall also lay claim on their women as well."

"Boss, there's more," the scout continued, unable to contain his excitement. "These travelers, especially the women among them, are not ordinary. They are like divine beings sent from the celestial realm. Their beauty eclipses all else, even the most resplendent of blossoms."

Black Demon's eyes sparkled with avarice. "Prepare our forces, summon every underling we have! We shall storm the clan, seizing their sustenance and treasures with unyielding determination. And we shall capture those ethereal fairies at any and all costs!" The promise of riches and the allure of otherworldly beauty fueled their ambitions, setting the stage for a perilous clash between greed and destiny.

======================

As the night of festivities came to a close, the morning arrived with its usual swiftness. Yun Che found himself waking up earlier than usual, a result of Little Fairy's relentless pestering for training. Normally, with all the girls staying in the guest house, he could indulge in some much-needed sleep. However, today was an exception. He had plans to enter the trial, but first, he needed to focus on boosting Cang Yue's training. Those relentless hollows, especially the one that got away, were a constant threat. Their attacks had to be curtailed, or they risked more casualties in the village. Retsu and Little Fairy would be perfect for the task of guarding the village, but not before he helped Cang Yue improve her skills.

"Maybe I can sleep in for today," Yun Che muttered to himself, reminiscing about the 'Fully Rested' perk he enjoyed with Retsu. With the girls in the guest house, he could only imagine how grumpy Retsu might be without him by her side.

A knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. "I am up… I am up," he grumbled, expecting a grumpy Fairy to drag him out of bed by his ear. To his surprise, it wasn't Little Fairy but a bundle of joy, Feng Xian'er.

"Big brother… big sister calls for you outside," the little girl said with obvious shyness.

Yun Che couldn't help but smile as he reached down to pet her head. "Thank you, Xian'er… You're up early?"

"Big sister said I can watch her training today. I wanted to watch big brother as well," she replied, the last part a mumble.

"I see… Let me freshen up first," he said with a smile before heading to the restroom to enjoy a brisk morning shower. The cold water invigorated him, and he relished the sensation.

This routine continued for several days, with Xian'er waking him up for early morning training. It was quite endearing to see her growing comfortable around him, no longer running away in shyness. She even started sitting next to him during meals and eagerly awaited his headpats.

The clan leader's family was enjoying a bit of luxury, thanks to Yun Che and Retsu occasionally cooking for them. Little Fairy and Cang Yue helped with the preparations, and sometimes, all four of them would go hunting together. Yun Che taught Feng Caiyun how to prepare various Japanese dishes, and Miso Soup quickly became a favorite among the children.

According to the system and the main novel's details, Feng Xian'er was meant to be one of the milestone girls. However, she was currently too young to play a significant role in the story and would likely remain within the village for most of it. She would only resurface a thousand chapters later when Little Fairy came to the clan after her banishment. However, now that Yun Che had chosen to deviate from the original story and prevent Little Fairy's future suffering, Feng Xian'er's role and significance had changed accordingly. Whether he selected her as a milestone girl or not, it no longer mattered.

The future was uncertain, and the story had diverged from its original path. Yun Che couldn't predict what lay ahead. For now, he focused on boosting Xian'er's cultivation after the curse was lifted. After that, he would leave her fate in the hands of destiny. If their lives were meant to be intertwined, they would meet again.

On the fourth day, Xian'er decided to stay behind while Yun Che and the others went for their early morning training. She and her brother had an idea to venture beyond the village, and they believed there were no more of those menacing white-masked beasts around.

"Sis… are you sure it's safe?" Feng Zu'er walked alongside his twin sister, their steps rustling the leaves as they ventured deeper into the forest together. It had been a long time since they had explored these woods, and a sense of adventure coursed through them.

"Hnn… big brother used to train here. I explored a bit and saw that beautiful flower once. I wanted to give it to big brother," Feng Xian'er replied with a smile, her eyes alight with excitement as they followed a narrow trail.

"Hee… you really like him, right? Right? You want to marry him when you grow up, right?" Feng Zu'er teased, nudging his sister playfully.

"Muu!" Feng Xian'er's cheeks flushed as she avoided giving a direct answer, but her sparkling eyes betrayed her feelings.

"Zu'er! There it is!" Feng Xian'er's voice carried a mixture of awe and delight as she pointed to a vibrant, rare flower nestled among the undergrowth. Its petals glowed with a soothing blue hue, casting an enchanting aura in the forest's dappled sunlight.

"Big brother and big sisters would like it," Feng Zu'er agreed with a warm smile, sharing in his sister's enthusiasm.

"Well, well... lucky us." Their cheerful exploration was abruptly interrupted by the sudden appearance of a group of mercenaries, their rough attire and menacing demeanor contrasting starkly with the serene forest.

"Eeep!" Feng Xian'er gasped, her grip on her brother's arm tightening in fear.

"Children from the village? You would be perfect as hostages!" one of the mercenaries sneered, casting a predatory gaze toward the frightened siblings.

"Xian'er! Run!!" Feng Zu'er shouted, pushing his sister away from the danger and attempting to shield her from the menacing mercenaries.

"Where do you think you're going?" another mercenary sneered, seizing Feng Zu'er by the arm to prevent his escape.

"Let me go!! Mama! Papa! Big brother!" Feng Xian'er cried out, her voice filled with desperation as she struggled to break free from the mercenary's grasp.

Amid the chaos, the leader of the mercenaries noticed the glowing blue flower clutched in Feng Zu'er's hand, a gift intended for his big brother and the big sisters. Sinister plans formed in the mercenary's mind, and he commanded, "Bring them over to the lair," his voice dripping with malevolence. Unbeknownst to them, the blue glow from the flower had not only attracted their attention but also that of a lurking, unseen presence, casting a shadow of impending danger over their ill-fated encounter.

"Husband, I have a bad feeling suddenly," Feng Caiyun confessed, her face filled with worry.

Feng Baichuan shared his wife's concern as he anxiously scanned the surroundings, expecting to see his children returning. "Where are those two? It's almost lunch," he muttered, concern etched on his face.

"We're home!" Both husband and wife turned around, their eyes lighting up with hope, only to see Yun Che alongside the fairies, each carrying spoils from their hunts.

Their hope turned to confusion as they realized their children were not with them. Feng Caiyun's worry deepened, and Feng Baichuan's knuckles whitened as he clutched his staff. "Immortal Yun, is Xian'er and Zu'er with you?"

"No, Xian'er and Zu'er didn't follow us this morning," Yun Che replied, furrowing his brow as he tried to recall if the children had joined them on their training expedition.

"Where are they?" Little Fairy asked, her voice tinged with concern.

Feng Baichuan nodded, his anxiety mounting. "We don't know. Those two always had the tendency to venture too far. I should have gone with them. What if they've run into danger?"

"Where could she be… she's never late for lunch. Especially when those two always help me prepare the food," Feng Caiyun fretted.

"Clan leader! Those mercenaries are approaching!" A village man's urgent shout interrupted their conversation.

"I thought the hollows had dealt with them," Yun Che mused, his brow furrowing in disbelief as he recalled the months of relentless harassment the village had endured at the hands of these mercenaries before the hollows arrived. The villagers had been forced to surrender nearly 60% of their hard-earned harvest. He had assumed that the hollows had put an end to their torment and that these troublemakers had perished. To his astonishment, they were very much alive and causing trouble again.

"Immortals, it seems the Black Demon Mercenary Group is back. The barrier needs more time to recharge. We are currently defenseless," Feng Baichuan informed them.

Yun Che sighed, realizing that they had to deal with one crisis after another. "One thing after another. We'll handle this," he declared, his focus still on the safety of the missing children.

[Ding.... Side Quest Initiated: Defeat the Black Demon Mercenary Group]

Description: The Black Demon Mercenary Group has plagued the Phoenix Clan for several years, even before the hollows arrived. They continue to be a threat to the village. It's time to teach them a lesson they won't forget. Finish them off.

[XP: 75,000 SP: 30,000]

----------------------

"Phoenix clan! Its been a year since your monthly tax collection." With no intention of stealth, the Black Demon Mercenary Group marched boldly into the heart of the Phoenix Clan's village during the scorching noon. They moved with a swagger that proclaimed their dominance, their higher cultivation levels giving them an air of invincibility. The villagers, taken aback by their audacity, watched in shock as these intruders approached, their confidence unwavering.

The Black Demon, the current group's arrogant leader, laughed heartily as he surveyed the startled villagers. "Look at them, cowering like sheep. They have no idea what's coming."

The Black Tiger, Black Wolf, and Black Devil, renowned members of their mercenary gang, walked alongside their leader, their contemptuous expressions revealing their sinister intentions. "We're here for their treasures, their food, their water, and their women," Black Tiger declared with a wicked grin.

The villagers, initially confused and frightened, began to murmur among themselves, realizing that they faced a dire threat. The mercenaries, fueled by their belief in their overwhelming power, continued their advance with arrogance and a complete lack of subtlety, determined to seize whatever they desired from the village.

"Well, well… the audacity in broad daylight." A voice resounded through the air, breaking the tension that had gripped the villagers. Heads turned to see three figures approaching, their presence radiating confidence and authority. Leading the way was none other than Yun Che, accompanied by Feng Baichuan and Feng Caiyun, the worried parents who had just been reunited with their son. Marching gracefully behind them were the three enchanting goddesses who had accompanied Yun Che on this mission.

The mercenaries dropped their jaws in unison, eyes widening as if they had witnessed the divine. The Black Demon, usually so arrogant and lecherous, found himself speechless, his mouth hanging open like a fish out of water. Black Tiger, Black Wolf, and Black Devil, renowned for their fierce personas, stood transfixed, their tough exteriors cracking under the pressure of astonishment.

The mercenaries couldn't help but gape in awe as their eyes fell upon Retsu, Little Fairy, and Cang Yue. These three women were a breathtaking sight, each possessing unique and captivating beauty.

Retsu, with her long, braided hair that seemed to shimmer in the sunlight, had an otherworldly elegance about her. Her sharp, yet alluring features drew their attention, and her black eyes seemed to pierce straight through their souls.

Little Fairy, with her mature stature and enchanting cold aura, exuded an ethereal charm that left them entranced. Her flowing, braided, silvery hair cascaded down her back, and her delicate, doll-like features carried a captivating innocence mixed with an underlying strength.

Cang Yue, on the other hand, emanated a regal allure. Her flowing, fuchsia hair framed her face perfectly, accentuating her captivating fuchsia colored eyes. Her poise and grace were reminiscent of royalty, and her beauty was a mesmerizing blend of strength and elegance.

The mercenaries found themselves utterly captivated by these three enchantresses, their gazes locked onto the women who stood before them like goddesses descended from the heavens.

The villagers, who had initially cowered in fear, began to sense a shift in the atmosphere. The mercenaries, momentarily distracted by the ethereal beauty before them, had forgotten their sinister intentions. They failed to realize that these mesmerizing women possessed not only extraordinary grace but also deadly power.

"Hahaha, to be able to witness beauties like you ladies is indeed a blessing from the heavens!" Black Demon shouted, his tone filled with lust.

"Men! Bring those women to me and plunder every single treasure, food, and water in this place. This should be enough to pay your year's due taxes to us. Be gentle with them; I don't want their beauty to be sullied," he commanded, his men nodding in agreement, their eyes fixed on the women.

"Ara… Maybe these people can serve as fertilizers for the forest below," Retsu responded with a sweet but annoyed expression.

"Shameless," Cang Yue murmured disapprovingly.

"Maybe I should freeze them in place," Little Fairy added, her voice filled with a cold determination.

Hearing their comments and sensing the escalating tension, Yun Che stepped up. He didn't want the villagers to be traumatized by his ladies' actions. With a calm and assertive tone, he addressed the situation to his ladies, "I'll handle this. Give me a few moments to sort things out and we'll set off to find those two."

"Guess you don't know how high the sky is," Yun Che remarked with a confident grin as he removed his white coat, leaving only his black inner shirt and tactical pants. The moment he revealed the chiseled muscles beneath his clothing, a wave of desire swept through the surrounding women. His toned physique, concealed until now, was like a hidden treasure trove that had been unveiled, leaving many of them with an undeniable thirst. The sight made some of the women visibly flushed, which in turn left Yun Che's companions feeling a tad uncomfortable, as they couldn't help but notice the attention he was receiving. It seemed like they might let the mercenaries take these women away.

"Who are you, brat? You're the one who doesn't know how high the sky is," Black Wolf retorted with a wicked grin, licking his blade menacingly.

Yun Che's response was casual, almost dismissive. "Why don't you have your final words? I'll give you a few minutes."

The Black Demon, their leader, couldn't contain his rage any longer. "Bastard! You lot! Kill that son of a bitch and bring me that brat's head!" He roared, commanding his men to attack Yun Che—thirty mercenaries in total.

"Small fries are small fries indeed," Yun Che muttered with disdain, making his stance clear.

One of the mercenaries took offense. "What did you say?! Get him!" With that command, the mercenaries launched a relentless assault on Yun Che.

Yun Che moved with lightning speed, delivering precise strikes to incapacitate his foes. His attacks were like a swift dance, each move strategically aimed.

"Oeil!" A direct hit to the face of the nearest mercenary.

"Flanchet!" A rib shot against another.

"Joue!" A cheek strike against another.

"Poitrine!" Finally, a blow to the neck, each attack sending its target flying tens of meters due to the sheer force behind them, and the lack of strength infused in the hits.

The villagers and mercenaries alike gasped in awe as Yun Che planted both his hands firmly on the ground and spun his legs like a top in a circular pattern. "Party Table Kick Course!" he announced.

His movements were so rapid that it appeared as if his hands had become his feet and vice versa. His kicks were devastating, easily shattering any weapons that dared to approach him. The mercenaries were flung aside as if they were trying to confront a spinning top, and the final one was hurled into the distance, crashing into a tree with a sickening thud.

The top members of the Black Demon Mercenary Group, including Black Demon himself, could only watch in disbelief. Thirty men, all defeated single-handedly by this one man.

"I told you all. Small fries indeed," Yun Che taunted as he stood up with a smirk.

Little Fairy, Cang Yue, and Retsu widened their eyes in amazement. They had witnessed Yun Che spinning like a whirlwind with only using his hands, taking down any mercenary who dared approach him with precision and raw power just like a spinning top. The display left them in awe. While they admired the skill, they also understood that mastering the Black Leg Style would be challenging for them, given their gender. So, they silently agreed to scratch that idea from their list of potential martial arts to learn.

The air in the small village was thick with despair, but it swiftly transformed into jubilation as the villagers took action against the crippled mercenaries.

"You brat! You dare lay your hands on my men?!" Black Demon's voice thundered through the chaos.

Yun Che responded with contempt, "What men?" What Black Demon didn't know was that Yun Che had already dismantled the cultivation of every mercenary who had come to the village, leaving only the top members of the group intact. Realizing this, Black Demon hastily mounted his horse, with another top member, Black Tiger, following suit.

Two other high-ranking mercenaries, Black Devil and Black Wolf, also attempted to flee, but Yun Che was closing in on them with dangerous determination. Then, he committed an unforgivable act by pulling out a familiar unconscious hostage. "Don't you dare come any closer! We have a hostage in our hands."

The crowd immediately recognized the hostage the mercenary was holding. It was Feng Zu'er, one of the child of the clan leader. Seeing this, Little Fairy's anger surged, manifesting in a chilling frosty aura.

Feng Baichuan and Feng Caiyun, the twins' parents, shouted desperately, "Zu'er!"

"Get your filthy hands off him!" the mother screamed in anguish.

Black Devil bellowed, trying to assert control as his horse retreated from the furious crowd. "Shut up! If you don't want me to kill him, you better not—"

Both high-ranking mercenaries suddenly widened their eyes as Yun Che disappeared. Black Devil's panic was palpable as he roared, "Damn it! Where is he? Where is he!?"

"Oi..." Black Devil began to say, only to be interrupted by a powerful kick delivered directly under his chin. The force of the kick caused him to loosen his grip on the unconscious Zu'er, and Yun Che deftly caught the defenseless boy.

"Taking a hostage? How low can you get?" Yun Che chastised as he landed one final, devastating blow on Black Devil.

"Mutton shot."

This kick to Black Devil's abdomen was infused with Yun Che's Spirit Force, and its impact was brutal enough to shatter his cultivation and send him hurtling far through the air. Even if he somehow survived, the organ damage was catastrophic, and his cultivation was irrevocably ruined. The crowd watched in awe and satisfaction as justice was served.

"Zu'er?" Yun Che gently cradled the unconscious boy, noticing the bruises on his cheek and the blood staining his teeth. It was evident that the young boy had put up a brave fight against the mercenaries, attempting to bite them, but had ultimately been overpowered and beaten into unconsciousness. This sight made Yun Che's heart ache; the boy's sister was still unaccounted for.

"Bastard!" Black Wolf attempted to rise, but a figure suddenly seized him roughly by the neck. "Guarkkk."

"Little Fairy?" Yun Che whispered in disbelief, observing her fury.

"Where is she?" Little Fairy's voice trembled with rage as she tightened her grip on Black Wolf's neck. The mercenary remained silent, prompting her to squeeze harder, causing frost to gradually form on the man's legs and hands. Everyone watched in horror as the icy grip of death encased him, and even the villagers began to back away.

Little Fairy repeated her question, each word laced with a chilling intensity. "I said... Where... is... she?"

"I... don't... know," Black Wolf gasped between the freezing pain.

With a determined look, Little Fairy proceeded to apply her icy wrath, freezing her victim solid until he became a lifeless ice sculpture. Every cell within him was iced over. She released her grip, allowing the frozen statue to shatter into a million pieces. The Phoenix Clan members were left stunned, witnessing the unyielding cruelty displayed by these strangers.

"Rascal, let's find her," Little Fairy declared, her face a mask of resolute determination.

"Way ahead of you," Yun Che replied, taking hold of a man named Blackie, whom he had met at the festival a few days ago. According to the system, his name was Blackie, his thief alias. "Oi... Where is your lair?"

"Fuck you!" Blackie spat defiantly, prompting a throwing knife to pierce through his hand. He howled in pain. "Huarrgghh!"

"Oh dear, my hand must have slipped," Retsu giggled with a mischievous grin.

Yun Che's smile was eerie as he continued, "All right... I guess you don't want to end up like your boss over there. I suggest you talk. So, which one do you want to die? The young lady over there might freeze you slowly, or this girl here will turn you into a living target. Now, speak."

"The mountain over there. Our base is in the cave beneath it. You can't miss it," Blackie confessed as the agony overwhelmed him.

"Good." Yun Che nodded before delivering a direct punch to Blackie's head. He decided to let the Phoenix Clan determine the spy's punishment since he had been a villager for almost a year and had leaked information to the mercenaries.

[Ding.... Side Quest Updated: Find and Rescue Feng Xian'er. Defeat the Black Demon Mercenary Group]

Description: The mercenaries have harmed Feng Zu'er and taken Feng Xian'er captive. Retrieve and rescue Feng Xian'er at all costs, and bring retribution to the Black Demon Mercenary Group.

----------------------

Yun Che turned to his companions, inquiring, "Girls? Ready to rescue Xian'er?"

"We're all set, young master," Retsu confirmed, and Yun Che handed Zu'er back to his parents, along with a bottle of health potion for their injured son. Cang Yue offered reassuring words to both parents, promising to bring Xian'er back safely.

Yun Che glanced at the snow fairy, noticing her agitation. "Little Fairy?"

"Let's just go. The longer we waste time, the more worried I become about Xian'er," Little Fairy replied with a stoic tone.

"Calm down, she's fine. The leader will lead us to their lair," Yun Che assured her, gently holding her shoulders. Little Fairy's expression showed a mix of concern and anger as she gazed at him.

"Rascal! How can I..." Little Fairy began to vent her frustrations but was stopped by Yun Che, who held her shoulders firmly. "Calm down," he said, his tone gentle yet firm. Little Fairy nodded, her agitation somehow subsiding. She widened her eyes, realizing her new heart was responding differently, calming her down instead of intensifying her emotions. She had been getting too emotional, and her new heart seemed to be guiding her to stay composed.

"Rascal... I..." Little Fairy started to speak but was cut off by Yun Che's smile and a comforting pat on her head. "Don't worry. Xian'er is going to be fine. I won't let anything happen to her."

With her worry somewhat assuaged, Little Fairy nodded in agreement. Her new heart still retained some of the traits from her old one, adapting to the situation as needed, much like when she had frozen the mercenary earlier. If required, her heart would revert to its old nature, but for now, it remained calm and content.

Yun Che nodded to Cang Yue, who summoned her white eagle once more. He contemplated the fate of the mercenaries who had kidnapped Xian'er and beaten Zu'er. Their actions had provoked the group, especially since Xian'er was one of their own.

-------

"Those wretched scoundrels," Black Demon seethed, his frustration palpable as he returned empty-handed from the village, his greedy desires for both treasures and the divine beauties left unfulfilled.

"Boss, what's our next move?" Black Tiger, his loyal companion, inquired.

"We must retreat, but that girl, the one we've taken from the village, she's coming with us," the boss declared firmly, referring to Feng Xian'er, their captive.

"We're down to just seventy men. Black Devil and Wolf probably were defeated as well. We should cut our losses and escape with what we have," Black Tiger advised, voicing a more prudent strategy.

Unbeknownst to them, a white eagle silently followed them from above. Cang Yue had her eagle touch down on an open plain, and as they dismounted, their expressions grew serious. Yun Che's voice cut through the tension. "Wait for us, Xian'er. Your big brother and sisters are on their way to rescue you."

"Girls, let's obliterate that cave," Yun Che commanded, to which they all nodded in determined agreement. Little Fairy's anger surged anew, her protective instincts for Feng Xian'er kicking in. Despite knowing the girl for only a few days, a deep bond had formed, and her kidnapping had become an unforgivable offense in Little Fairy's eyes, akin to touching her most sensitive nerve.

-------

"I wonder how much treasure the leader amassed," one of the mercenaries mused.

"A lot. We haven't collected any taxes from them for almost a year," another replied.

Into the cave strode Black Demon, flanked by his partner, and he barked, "Oi, you lot, pack everything up, and let's leave this place. Bring me the girl!"

Confusion swept over the mercenaries. "Boss, what's going on?" they asked, utterly bewildered.

"Don't ask!" Black Demon roared, his patience wearing thin. He laid eyes on the tied-up Feng Xian'er in the distance, gritting his teeth, while the terrified girl stared back at him. "Your family really caused me quite a bit of trouble."

BOOM!!

A deafening explosion rocked the massive door that covered the cave's entrance, capturing the attention of every mercenary inside. Someone just dared to attack them at their lair. From the swirling smoke emerged four figures, standing resolutely side by side. Just like back at the village, the mercenaries' initial reactions mirrored their captivation by the beauties before them. However, the gravity of the situation swiftly pulled them from their daze, prompting them to unsheathe their weapons.

"I'm afraid you owe us our little friend," Yun Che spoke, his face etched with seriousness.

"Big brother! Big sisters!" Feng Xian'er cried out, her voice filled with both relief and urgency. Little Fairy, her heart aching for the young girl, was driven by the need to finish this battle swiftly and rescue her.

Black Demon's eyes widened as he took in the sight of the three beauties accompanying Yun Che. Could this quartet truly take down a force of seventy men? He dismissed the notion as pure fantasy.

"Men! Get them and cripple those beauties!" Black Demon roared his orders, rallying his mercenaries to attack.

Yun Che cracked his knuckles, his voice laced with resolve. "You lot, there's no use begging for forgiveness. We won't leave a single bone unbroken." With those words, his companions nodded, and the battle for Feng Xian'er's life began in earnest, a clash of wills and strengths in the dimly lit cave.

As the battle unfolded, Retsu's expertise with throwing knives came to the forefront. Her hands moved like a blur, sending the deadly blades whirling through the air. With uncanny accuracy, the knives found their marks in the mercenaries' throats and hearts, causing them to fall one by one. Her enemies couldn't even get close to her before meeting their demise. In a display of her versatility, she utilized her Kido skills to create a bladed rope knife, allowing her to dance gracefully through the chaotic battlefield, dealing death with each precise strike.

Yun Che, with a cocky grin, unleashed his Party Table Kick Course technique by using one of the mercenaries as a base. Placing his hands on the unfortunate man's face, he moved like a whirlwind, spinning and kicking with remarkable speed and precision. His kicks were devastating, breaking the mercenaries' weapons and sending them flying through the air. They were like leaves caught in a tornado, unable to defend against the relentless onslaught.

Cang Yue, on the other hand, gracefully danced through the melee, her sword a shimmering extension of herself. She displayed her mastery of sword arts, striking with finesse and grace. Her blade cut through the mercenaries' defenses with ease, leaving deep gashes and disabling their attacks.

Little Fairy unleashed relentless waves of ice attacks that added to the chaos on the battlefield. Her frosty powers encased mercenaries in icy prisons, immobilizing them and leaving them vulnerable to the combined assault of Yun Che, Retsu, and Cang Yue.

With each icy blast, she froze weapons, limbs, and even the ground beneath their enemies' feet. The mercenaries struggled in vain to break free from the icy grip, but Little Fairy's control over her powers was impeccable. Her cold aura intensified, creating a frigid battlefield where the mercenaries' movements grew sluggish, and their desperation grew evident.

Yun Che continued his whirlwind of kicks, breaking weapons and sending mercenaries flying, while Retsu's throwing knives found their marks with uncanny accuracy. Cang Yue's swordplay remained elegant and deadly, striking down any mercenaries who managed to evade the ice and the kicks.

Yun Che, Little Fairy, Retsu, and Cang Yue fought as a well-coordinated team, using their individual strengths to complement each other. The mercenaries had no chance against their combined might, and their rescue mission drew closer to its climax with each fallen foe.

"Well, that was quite amusing," Yun Che spoke as he made his way towards the rest of the men who still trying to fight.

With a final, coordinated assault, the battle came to a thunderous end, courtesy of their well-practised teamwork. Despite their adversaries initially having the upper hand in terms of sheer strength, the combination of their skills had proven unbeatable.

Cang Yue, her blade still drawn, pointed it at one of the injured mercenaries. Her plea was clear in her eyes as she spoke, "Please, just give up."

The wounded man remained unresponsive, and after a moment's contemplation, Cang Yue decided not to press further, lowering her weapon and turning to walk away.

But danger lurked even in the aftermath. "You bitch!" came an enraged shout from behind. The mercenary she had beaten earlier had somehow summoned the strength to rise, attempting to stab Cang Yue with his sword.

However, before the blade could reach its mark, his figure suddenly froze, and then with a sickening shatter, he disintegrated into a million pieces. Cang Yue stood there, momentarily unable to react, as Little Fairy's figure materialized before her, her demeanor as icy as her name.

"Sister Yue," Little Fairy said in a chilling tone, "make sure they're properly dead before you leave them."

Cang Yue's hands trembled as she comprehended the ruthlessness required to deal with such threats, and she could only watch as Little Fairy departed, leaving behind a battlefield scattered with shattered remnants of their foes.

Black Demon and Black Tiger watched in shock and horror as their mercenaries fell one by one, overwhelmed by the relentless assault of Yun Che, Retsu, Cang Yue, and Little Fairy. Their expressions twisted into a mixture of rage and despair as they saw their men being incapacitated or sent flying through the air like ragdolls.

"Bastards! Cease your attacks, or I'll drop this girl," Black Demon bellowed, holding Feng Xian'er by her head from his lookout tower. The sudden threat sent a wave of anger surging through all four of them, but it was Little Fairy who couldn't contain her fury.

"Fiend! Let go of her!" she shouted, her voice tinged with both anger and desperation.

"Come any closer, I'll crush her head," Black Demon threatened, a sinister grin spreading across his face as he saw the anguish in Little Fairy's eyes. He continued, his voice filled with a mix of defiance and desperation, "Bastards, what do you want with me? Is it enough that you've destroyed all our men?"

"We didn't come for you; we came for her!" Yun Che's voice cut through the tension like a blade. Sensing an opportunity, Feng Xian'er bit down hard on Black Demon's hand, causing him to drop her from his lookout.

Seizing the moment, Little Fairy grabbed a nearby spear and hurled it like a javelin. It struck Black Demon squarely in the chest, impaling him against the wall. He was still alive, but incapacitated.

Black Tiger, seeing the situation crumble around him, attempted to escape, but Little Fairy acted swiftly, shooting an icicle through him, causing his body to freeze over. It wasn't enough to kill him, but he was rendered helpless.

Retsu and Cang Yue were unaware of just how deeply Little Fairy cared for Feng Xian'er, a bond that had grown stronger over time. Little Fairy's fierce protectiveness towards the young girl had always been evident, but her willingness to be ruthless in dealing with these mercenaries was something new, something born out of an overwhelming desire to shield Xian'er from harm.

Yun Che, in a blur of movement, flashed forward and gently caught the falling Feng Xian'er in his arms. "Big brother… I am scared," she whispered, her eyes filled with tears as she clung to him.

He smiled warmly, his voice soothing. "Xian'er, next time, please don't go into the forest."

It took a while for Xian'er to calm down before she spoke, her voice filled with remorse. "I am sorry; I was looking for this flower to give you and my big sisters."

Yun Che's eyes widened as Xian'er presented him with a beautiful blue flower. It may have been a small flower, but its properties were nothing short of extraordinary.

[Ding… A duplicate of the seed has been created and is now available in the system shop. The host can now cultivate this flower within the inner world.]

-----------------------

Yun Che's eyes widened with astonishment as Xian'er made an extraordinary discovery—the rare and coveted flower that was said to exist only within the depths of the Heaven Basin Secret Realm was now cradled delicately in Xian'er's grasp. Though small, this unassuming flower held immeasurable potential. Yun Che envisioned a future where it could be cultivated in their village, its unique properties harnessed to bolster their collective strength and power.

The possibilities seemed limitless, and he couldn't help but be excited by the prospect of what this discovery could mean for the Phoenix clan community. Little did he know that this humble flower, in the hands of a young girl, would become a symbol of hope and transformation for them all.

"I am sorry, big brother," Xian'er whispered, her eyes closing as exhaustion overcame her.

"Xian'er!" Little Fairy exclaimed, her worry evident. Yun Che, though concerned, tried to offer reassurance. "She's fine. Probably just too tired." He knew that her unconsciousness was likely from fatigue.

Gently, Yun Che handed Xian'er over to Little Fairy, who held her as if she were her own child. Yun Che couldn't help but be touched by the depth of care and affection Little Fairy had for the little one.

Little Fairy, gently cradling the sleeping Feng Xian'er, led the way as they started their exit from the cave. Cang Yue followed closely behind, her concern for their young companion evident in her every step.

Yet, Yun Che and Retsu made a different choice. Their determination filled the air as they decided to stay behind, unwavering in their mission to scour the cave for any treasures that might offer a glimmer of hope for the Phoenix village, now teetering on the brink of devastation.

In the end, Yun Che and Retsu gathered a selection of treasures that had been collected by the mercenaries over the years, plundered from the Phoenix village. These reclaimed valuables were more than just material wealth; they represented hope and a chance for the village to regain its former prosperity once the looming threat had been vanquished. These treasures were to be safely returned to their rightful owners, a step towards rebuilding the community and ensuring a brighter future once the threat of the hollows had passed.

[Ding… New Frame Unlocked.]

The frame shows Chibi Yun Che performing a breakdance while the mercenary flying all over.

---------------------

"Roooarrr!!!!"

Yun Che surveyed the chaos unfolding before him. The entrance to the cave was no longer a safe haven as a ravenous humanoid hollow burst through, its monstrous roar echoing through the cave. Mercenaries screamed in terror as they were devoured by the hollow's gaping maw.

As Black Demon attempted to beg for mercy, Yun Che briefly pondered their fate. In that instant, both Retsu and Yun Che swiftly employed flash steps, putting some distance between themselves and the impending chaos.

Then, with a mischievous glint in his eye, Yun Che snapped his fingers. A sequence of explosions erupted throughout the cave, setting off a chain reaction that reverberated through the structure. Rocks and debris cascaded down, creating a deadly avalanche that buried both the mercenaries and the rampaging hollow beneath tons of rubble.

His companions watched in awe and relief as Yun Che expertly wielded his Kido bomb spells, bringing an abrupt end to the reign of terror imposed by the Black Demon Mercenaries. The cave's destruction served as a resounding testament to their determination and strength in the face of overwhelming odds.

Turning away from the scene, Yun Che rejoined his companions outside the cave. Cang Yue expressed concern, wondering if they should have done something to help. But before anyone could respond, the cave collapsed entirely, sealing the fate of the mercenaries alongside the hollow within.

As the dust settled and the chaotic scene in the cave became nothing more than a memory, Yun Che led his group back to their village. They had not only rescued Feng Xian'er but had also vanquished the menacing Black Demon Mercenaries, putting an end to their reign of terror.

Feng Xian'er, still unconscious but safely in Little Fairy's care, was a symbol of their success. Yet, even in the midst of their victory, a new threat loomed on the horizon—the impending hollows.

----------------

"Another day, another dollar," Yun Che mumbled as he woke up at the crack of dawn. He stretched his tired limbs, feeling the aches and strains of the previous day's heroics when they rescued Feng Xian'er and Feng Zu'er. The grateful parents of the two children had become wholly dependent on Yun Che and his companions, and the weight of their gratitude hung in the air like an unspoken promise.

Yun Che was ready to laze about a bit longer, but as he shifted on the bed, he felt a small bump next to him. Curiosity piqued, he opened his bedsheet, revealing Feng Xian'er, fast asleep beside him.

"Xian'er," he whispered, a mix of amusement and wonder.

Just as he was pondering how she had sneaked in and slept next to him all night, his bedroom door swung open abruptly, and in walked Little Fairy. Her voice trailed off as her eyes landed on the unexpected scene—Yun Che and Feng Xian'er sharing a bed. An uncomfortable silence settled between them, and Yun Che began sweating profusely as he sensed the frosty aura building up around Little Fairy.

"Uhhh... I can explain," Those were his last words.

SMACK!
