After James heard his name shouted he turned around to see a woman running towards him.
"James, is that you? I can't believe it, finally. After all these years, it's finally happening."
"Who are you? I don't think we've ever met before, have we?"
[Replaying Memory Sequence]
After James had the memories replayed for him, he suddenly recognised the woman who was in front of him.
"Wait a moment? Are you my mother? I was told you were dead. What's going on!"
"I was supposed to be killed, but one of the guards was able to save me from that awful fate. I was able to run away and hide, although one of the men found out I was still alive and has been pursuing me for years. Although he suddenly disappeared recently, so I was finally able to find you."
After finally meeting her son after almost thirteen years of being isolated from him and watching him grow up on the streets, the woman broke down into tears and fell to the ground.
James had to watch this woman just cry and cry; he honestly felt no relation to her. Even though he felt extremely sorry for her for every problem she has had to go through, that was all he felt.
He hadn't shared the memories with the previous host of his body and so still remembered his parents from his past life, this was something he couldn't get past, he couldn't treat her as a mother as there was already one set in his mind.
"It's good to see you again, but I'm swamped at the moment, I don't suppose we could meet another time?" James had to try and end this situation, he felt incredibly awkward and was afraid he would say something to break this poor woman's heart.
"B-b-but, I only just found you, how could I let you go? If you disappear, then I might never see you again. I've spent 13 years looking for you; I need you, it's been my only reason for living."
"It's incredible honestly; it's been such a long time, yet after losing all hope you're still alive. But I don't have the time; I'm days away from leaving for a school where I will have to stay for a few months."
"Why does it have to be like this? Why can't we live happily together; that's all I've ever wanted in this life, yet I can't even get that. What did I do to deserve this?"
After finally finding her child and then being denied the contact she wanted it seemed that James' mother was starting to crumble mentally. Everything she had experienced was beginning to catch up to her now that she had stopped running.
"There isn't much I can do for you, but there is one thing I can do right now. Follow me."
Saying this, James began heading back to the nobles house he had just left. There was now one more thing he needed to settle before heading out.
"Well 'father', it seems we've had an exciting development, take a look at this."
James then stepped aside and pulled his mother through the doorframe.
After seeing her walk through the door the noble began to shake, the colour drained from his face and his jaw was set agape.
"How, how is this possible? She should be dead; I don't understand. My men told me they had killed her already. Is this some sick joke?"
"I'm afraid not; it seems one of your men had a soft heart and decided to let her go, although I'm pretty sure your brother has secretly been pursuing her all this time as well. God knows what he wanted from her. Although I might need to ask him sometime."
"You've already done enough to him; I don't know what it was that he wanted, but he's been through enough already these past few days."
"Pretty much you need to help her, you've ruined so many years of her life; you're going to make up for them.
Anything she wants, she gets. Anything she wants to do, she does. Anywhere she wants to go, she goes. And if I find anything out of place when I get back, then I will unleash every single power I have, and I will not only destroy you I will destroy this entire kingdom.
I will break down the walls, burn down the buildings, flood the streets, and bring down winds capable of crushing this whole city. And there will be a single name responsible for it that I will carve into the land to show your sins for all of time; for everyone to see.
Martin Rale."
"I no longer need to try and keep the secret anyway; it's a bit too late for that seeing as you already told my wife everything. She is free to live her life, but my resources are for my wife and child as well, so I refuse to give her everything simply because we slept together once, my wife is the one I dedicated myself to, even if I didn't always show it."
"That's fine, to be honest, I doubt my mother will have that expensive of a taste, but I just wanted to let you know some ground rules before anything else happens. For example, if I find out your brother has approached her, I will cripple him.
She has been through enough already thanks to your shitty family."
This whole time James' mother was looking at him in awe seeing how he controlled the entire situation, he was only thirteen, yet he could already manage the noble like he was putty in his hands.
He made it look too easy; she would have never thought that her son would be so amazing, it seemed that growing up on the streets had helped him to think in a different way, he was extremely streetwise and was able to play a rogue character as if it was second nature.
After making sure that his new mother was taken care of James took her to his house and spoke to her about his life so far while packing ready to leave for school, using the memories from the system he had mostly told the truth to her. He also sent out an order for some clothes to be made for her of the highest quality his tailors could make.
After spending a couple of days getting to know the woman called Irene Aselia, James got a feel for just how tragic her life was. From having to work at a young age to support her ill father to getting stuck with a kid without a father as she got older.
James definitely felt closer to her over this time but still nowhere to the level of a mother figure; it was more of a friendly neighbour feeling, he just wasn't ready to accept her yet.
"Well, I suppose It's time for me to get going, I will probably be gone for a few months so you can live here in the meantime. Here's a PTM I got for you, it has 50 Cedi on it which coupled with Martins contribution should be more than enough. If you ever run into any trouble, my guards will be able to protect you as well."
"Goodbye son, I love you. Promise me that you will be safe when you are there, I have no idea what you will be doing, but danger is everywhere in this world, no matter how safe you may seem always stay cautious."
"I promise."
Finally leaving for school next chapter.
Anyone predict the mother coming back?
As always, votes and reviews are a great way to help me out!
Also, sorry if the dialogue isn't fantastic, I struggled with writing it. I just couldn't get it to give off the feel I wanted, but I tried my best.
