After finishing his coffee Marcus noted that the eating hall was spick and span. Wolves were starting to look for things to clean. "Umm Cally, perhaps you should tell them that's good enough." Cally had been eating on a plate of bacon and drinking her milk. She had lost interest in watching the rushing wolves when her some of her food arrived. Clearly dragging in a ladder to wipe down the ceilings was a bit much. Cally stood up, "Thank you all. You have done a good job. You can go back to your breakfast or whatever peaceful endeavors you were doing. I expect everyone to be on their best behavior in memory of Olen and during this time."
Marcus was thinking about Cally's control over other wolves. It was simply too astounding. "You can or cannot exert control over me?" It was important to his peace of mind. Only his Father could control him and he was his clan Alpha. The Russian bear appeared with her food at that moment. "Sasha, thank you it looks delicious. You will be a good boy now. Yes?" His smiled with real pleasure, "Yes of course my Queen, of course!" He bowed and stepped away. Cally started with a bite of egg, savored it and then turned and gave Marcus the most serious face he had seen on her. My God was it just 24 hours since he met her?
"Marcus, I will not lie to you. I will never lie to you. There is not a wolf living or dead that I could not control. It is a matter of do I want to? Sometimes trying not to control others is harder, much harder than controlling them." She tried her kolbasa and ate a little more of her eggs. " It is not pleasant to be on the receiving end of mind control so I do make an effort not to do it without thinking. You have some natural resistance, which is why the Night Clan is the most prevalent in our security forces." Cally smiled. "This is also one of the things I find most adorable about you."
Marcus stood and looked for his team but they had disappeared back to where they had come from per Cally's command. "Cally I ..." She nodded and interrupted. "You have a million things to do. All these wolves are a headache, yada yada yada. Go do your stuff." And then her falafel arrived and she dug into her breakfast with gusto.
Marcus headed back to his office and called in all security forces not currently sleeping. He gave them a run down on what he knew of the Wotan. He had several older wolves that were familiar with Rebecca Wotan. He shamelessly told them to drop the Wotan's name at every opportunity. To tell everyone that the new Wotan's name was Cally and that she expected respect for Olen during this time.
News of Cally spread quickly just from the dining hall people. The Russian, Sasha, was telling everyone the Wotan knew his name and ate his food! The falafel maker was not to be outdone. She loved his food and praised his cooking. The comments ranged from she is so beautiful to she is terrifying! Rumors started to fly that with one word she felled everyone in guild hall to she miraculously saved a dying wolf so he could make her extra crispy bacon.
With the knowledge that a super powered wolf was in residence, peace was being maintained in Clan home. However what Marcus didn't know was that the U.S. Federal government had taken notice of the large amount of international traffic coming into Battery Point's small regional airport. Ships of all sizes were arriving along the coast and even having to queue up in order to dock and unload their passengers. Olen's death was a massive event. He had been acting CEO of Wotan International for years. He was the acknowledged leader of the Clan Home council. The feds didn't know about Olen's death. They simply knew international travel to the unimportant location of Battery Point had gone off the charts.
Guild Hall had quite the impressive IT department. As Marcus was picking up chatter in regards to Clan Home's visitors he decided to have his IT department contact local, regional and several internationally known news outlets to pass on the details of world renown CEO of Wotan International and philanthropist Olen Hamundarson had passed away. Marcus hoped this would keep the feds away at least until after the funeral. But a different branch of the federal government was taking a look at Clan home and he had no way to stop them. The Art Crime Team, part of the FBI, had just been contacted by Sotheby's New York about a suspicious 13th century crown that had come in.
