章節 312: Curious conversation (UPDATED!)

After removing every possible piece of disturbance, Anna peeked outside to stare at the two old love birds. She could hardly contain her childish giggle. Seeing her obvious act, Jake grunted behind her.

"My darling sweet wife, who is also a poor actor!" he muttered.

Diego had no clue until hearing Jake's comment. He took a minute to assess the situation. Anna called for his help and he went along with Jake. However, the context seems to hold another purpose. He looked out to find Lillian and Giselle all alone, sitting inches apart from each other, yet smiling gleefully. He comprehended Anna's play and shifted his glance to her.

Anna was busily whispering onto Jake's ears, both giggling as they spoke. Diego discovered that he got played by his dear friend.

After such a visible performance to bring those two together, Diego could hardly come up with a reason to leave the kitchen. No matter how much he could scratch his brain cells, not one good excuse he could make up to convince Anna. He finally gave up to join Jake as Anna left them with a recipe for the drink, Cranberry Margaritas.

She returned to Lia and took her to the counter to display her collection of ice creams. She removed each box to scoop a little quantity for Lia to taste.

The kitchen got occupied with people on both sides. Meanwhile, in the living room, Lillian and Giselle shared a laugh at Anna's play.

"That stupid girl!" Lillian said to make a truce to their fun.

Their laughter faded into a nostalgic smile. Lillian looked at Giselle, studying her face under the light. They were close to each other yet felt distant.

"Are we cool?" She asked.

Giselle looked stumped, unable to interpret Lillian's expression.

"I don't know! I mean, it feels as if we're in a big fight."

Giselle seems to agree to her. They never quarreled, but things had escalated unexpectedly to their handling.

"I told you that I really wanted to meet you at the weekend, " Lillian recalled the time when she had discovered her love for Giselle and directly wished to confess. However, despite Lillian's efforts, Giselle was gone.

Years passed to their own adventures.

And where do Lillian meet Giselle again?

At Shane Ricardo's place!

She had questions- a countless number of questions to ask Giselle, but seeing her run away again, without sparring a word let Lillian feel deep anguish. She doubted if the mistake lies with her. Grazing the faded wound she received from chasing after Giselle on that day, it still stung her to witness such a welcome. Nevertheless, there they were, right now, sitting together on a Thanksgiving Day.

How long have they come thus far?

There were struggles to survive and feelings to reconsider. Like the time when Giselle and little Lia visited Lillian Grey. It was a fleeting paradise for Lillian to be with Giselle again. They were able to reconcile before Lillian had to ruin it. She let her emotions get better of it and dared to express her love for Giselle boldly. Their short sweet moment ended on spot to little Lia's presence. Both were responsible, but Lillian admitted to her initiation. She still carries the wound till date.

"The last time I met you was at the party where that little prince ratted me out with his booze rant, " Lillian said it with a grudge.

"I swear I'm plotting the perfect revenge for him. You better watch out since you're his editor, " she added spitefully.

"Because it's you, I'm giving a heads up!"

Spooked from her thirst for revenge caused Giselle to panic.

"I'm glad that neither of us ran away and we ended on a good note on that night!" Lillian admits to her delight. She even bragged about getting Giselle's phone number dashingly.

Giselle had to chuckle from Lillian's shameless brag.

"I did it somehow-" she defended her pride.

They shared a smile again, only this time it involved their own amusement. Lillian read the pleasing atmosphere to ask again,

"So, are we cool?"

Giselle waited for a while before admitting. Her response finally paid for peace between the two. Lillian breathed a sigh of relief. She leaned back on the couch to let the moment sink in with a sweet smile to herself. It was silent yet again and Giselle let Lillian bathe in her glory while she glanced around for recreation. To her alarm, she found Diego's shadow leaving her sight. Her natural fear for him triggered and instantly she looked away in fright. She sought after Lillian, who still enjoyed her bliss.

Worried, Giselle glanced again to find him lurking near the kitchen entrance, strolling across the place, trying to catch Giselle's attention. However, she never gave him a chance to meet eye to eye.

Removing herself from the overjoy, Lillian spoke again, remembering to confess on another subject.

"Uh- About what Jayce said-"

"Don't mind it much-" she exclaimed.

Distracted by Lillian once again, Giselle's mind wandered away from Diego.

"Is it true?"

"What he said? Is it all true?" She asked.

Because she got a lucky chance to be with Giselle all alone, Lillian chose to come clean before anyone interrupts.

Knowing that Giselle's eyes were on her, Lillian admitted to being in several miserable relationships. It was thought to confess for her, and also hard for Giselle to hear. Both had a difficult time looking at each other so their gazes agreed to wander until Giselle emerged.

"Was there anyone special?" She asked.

Lillian thought of all the people she went out with, for drinks, movies, or dinner. Some got lost to her mindful, while one remained strong to her memory and that was Lucy.

Lillian Grey thought of Lucy. She nodded gradually to acknowledge.

"Yes."

"There was this girl-" Lillian chuckled from remembering the fancy faces of Lucy.

"Are you two still together?"

"No. We broke up. More like it was me who ended it."

"Why?"

Lillian hesitates from Giselle's interest.

"Because she reminded me of you, a lot."

There was a frozen silence between the two. Lillian thought she needs to explain more before declaring such remarks.

"Her certain mannerisms often reminded me of you."

Giselle dared not to interrupt and listened closely.

"After you left, I never let anyone close to me. Never. I dated a lot. Yes! But they were all unstable relationships. She. She was able to shake me up. For good though, because I lived like a wacko.

Giselle took pity on Lillian's story. If she was young and innocent, such words would wound her one-sided unrequited love. Nevertheless, the current Giselle now has the maturity to look past that young girl's longings.

" Then, why did you break up?"

"Because it was not fair for her."

"I got impressed by her ability to remind me of my past, which included you. I was with her when I heard that you returned. Eventually, I let myself wander like an idiot after I met you at Shane's place. I couldn't be true to her entirely."

"Your image possessed me all over again. Even if I did fell for her, I knew that my heart would always yearn for you."

Giselle heard as Lillian admit to her feelings. She couldn't bear to look her in the eye with a flustered face.

"So, I told her we were not meant to be together."

This person that Lillian admitted to having a sincere bond, Giselle was curious to know more about her.

"What is her name?" she spied with an interest.

There Lillian had doubts about whether to reveal details or not. She may give in to Giselle's interest now, but it is a small world after all. However, if Lillian misses this chance then there won't be another time to confess herself. Contradicting herself, she reached a decision from following where her heart leads.

"Lucy." "Her name is Lucy."

She revealed anyhow, biting her teeth while staring at Giselle's blank face.

"Did you regret it?"

Learning that there was someone else who has made Lillian fall in love, Giselle wished to know more.

"No." "Frankly, I did feel bad for encouraging her. But as I said, this was not meant to be. Sooner or later, I would have hurt her. I'm glad that I made my decision sooner."

"Lucy. Lucy deserves someone better. Much better."

"Someone who treats her like a queen. Not the way like I did-"

"Why?"

"Because- I still had hoped- in my love."

"I had my share of fears but that kiss encouraged me."

Giselle blushed from Lillian's bold comments.

"Is it bad to believe? To keep the faith. To still love-"

"Enough already."

Giselle cried to beg Lillian to stop talking anymore. Those impassioned form of expression teased poor Giselle and she moved an inch away from the person who kept pouring it out.

Lillian followed to tease for more until she stopped her play voluntarily.

"Giselle?" she called.

"Yes."

"Can I-" Lillian stuttered to ask.

"What?"

Giselle's eyes were curious, anticipating to know what more to come from this interesting person. She waited.

"Can I ask about Lia's father?" Lillian asked.

Giselle's expression changed. Her eyes turn dry and red. Unlike Lillian, she was not ready to confide.

"Can I?" Lillian asked again.

Giselle shook her head, "No."

"It was a mistake, " she uttered, weakly, making her eyes swelled.

"Lia- Lia is not a mistake, " she tried hard to sell.

"It was mine, not Lia's, not Ethan's too."

"He just- he- I-"

Seeing her struggle visibly upon such a topic, Lillian stopped Giselle from hurting herself.

"Hey. Hey. Hey."

She hushed to calm the hyper one.

"It's okay."

"Tell me when you are ready, " Lillian said to end the conversation. They ditched the subject to speechless silence.

Lillian noticed the invisible distance between her and her love, Giselle. She knew the topic would make Giselle play melancholy, but witnessing her break down as such, Lillian vowed to never bring in the topic again unless Giselle volunteers to confide. Instead, she chose to change the direction of their little chat. Shifting it more towards the goal she has in her mind.

"So-"

"Can we start where we left?"

Giselle ignored. Her mind only thought about her one sin. She did not hear what Lillian said and her eyes wander off to the kitchen. She immediately rose from her seat,

"Excuse me for a moment."

She said to leave Lillian without a response.

Lillian appeared bewildered, doubting herself again in a trial. Meanwhile, Giselle approached the scene to find Diego with Lia.

"Lia-" she called in to interrupt.

"What are you doing?"

A smile to not scare the child in enlightening it of its dangerous company.

"Lia says that she likes the mint chocolate chip flavor, " Diego spoke carelessly.

"Funny! It's my favorite too, " he added with a grin.

She knew he lurked around to grab Giselle's attention, but seeing him alone with her daughter worried Giselle.

"Giselle!" Anna's voice entered.

"What are you doing here?"

"You're supposed to be there-"

Anna looked out to spot Lillian Grey while Diego's shadow gave Giselle a glance before he left Lia's side.

"Why Lillian has a startled face?" Anna asked.

"Did you guys fight?" she raided.

"No. We didn't fight."

"Then, why is she-"

"Drinks are ready, let's go watch a movie, " Diego's voice emerged again to startle everyone. He said to carry the drinks to the living room.

Finally able to get hold of her child, Giselle left the scene as well.

"Honey, you should have asked us to make- Baked Alaska or something- time-consuming, " Jake joined his wife.

"How did it go?" he inquired.

Anna pointed at the display and Jake followed to catch a glimpse of frozen Lillian.

"Why the startled face? he asked.

"Did they fight?"

"Apparently, no, " Anna sighed deeply.

"Then what happened?"

"Hell do I know what exactly happened!" Anna raged from the turn of events.

Diego made his second call from the living room, inviting Anna and Jake to soon join him for an entertainment. They heard his voice echo the entire house and walked out together to assemble with the rest.
