章節 267: Not so lazy weekend

Sunday dawned on the big city and its residents.

The highlight of the weekend opened officially. A day dedicated to rest, play hard and spend time with loved ones before the start of another week called Monday arrives.

Such a wealthy day started with Lia waking up early than the others. The little one rose to see the serene sunrise. She came out, dragging her weak body in search of others. After last night's drowsy confession to her mother, Lia remembered it vaguely to her knowledge and soon covered the blurry sides with her strong determination.

Apologizing for her week-long ignorance, succeeded.

Expressing her love and affection to her mother achieved.

Showing her support to her mother's love story, accomplished.

Lia could feel the betterment within herself. The tension, stress, and suppressed emotions disappeared like dust. Breathing never felt fresh and light, Lia thought to herself and walked around the home to reach the living space.

The little one caught the first glimpse of a vague image of her mother from the living room. She approached to wake her up, and as she did, little Lia noticed the empty, uncleared cans giving out the pungent stench. Lia kept poking at her mother's belly rigorously following the discovery of the scent.

Giselle opened her eyes and instantly shut it down from the burden. Her head hurt from drinking, and the stern sleeping position left her with discomfort spine. It took her several seconds to move, stretch, and sit up straight, soon to lean back to the couch.

She brushed Lia's hair soft and tender, till it melted the little girl to fall onto her breast. Lia's weak body rested against Giselle, and they napped for a few minutes in such posture.

Lia squirmed under the hold. She wriggled and bouched away from her mother and ran to the bathroom for an emergency. Her subtle movement caused Giselle to wake up again, and she saw the dim daylight beginning to spread across the land. The blinded room lightened from the sunshine and alarmed the arrival of the Sunday morning.

The first glance Giselle perceived is The empty beer cans from last night stood still on the table, with only a few dropped to the floor and along with the alcohol stench mild to her nostrils. Standing up to clear away the unsighted picture, Giselle worked.

Lia returned in a jiffy to find her mother tell her to brush right away. The aftermath of yesterday's confession left Lia to be in her best behavior, and she obeyed her mother's word diligently.

Shortly, Ethan woke up from the rustling noises coming outside the room. He came out to find Giselle cleaning the house, collecting the trash, and washing the dishes from last night's curry dinner.

"Good morning!" he announced after watching her do all chores as early as the birds, and he fell once again on the couch.

"Morning! How are you feeling?" Giselle greeted back and asked from the remembrance of his last night solo contest.

"Lazy. Listless. I'm feeling like a sloth today!" Ethan mumbled in his inflated cheeks, leaning against the armrest.

"You can take all the rest today until dinner!" Giselle reminded him.

Ethan cheered from the news and returned to being lazy.

He felt more sluggish than ever from the thought of being away from work.

'What a silent day to wake up! I am going to sleep after eating breakfast!" he announced, and Giselle allowed him to do so.

Lia, who returned after brushing, suggested that they can all visit the church together and attend the mass today. Giselle and Ethan exchanged glances. Their peaceful, resting Sunday started to disappear in front of their eyes as they watched Lia present her plan to go out and return by the time to start preparing for dinner.

The child's eager eyes sparkled against the sunshine and doomed the adult's wishes. Her bounciness made Ethan think that sleeping is for the weak and Giselle to think of living productively.

"We eat lunch outside again?" Giselle said.

"No, mama. We made curry last night, and we got an extra packet of rice which we can steam to eat!" Lia returned with substantial suggestions.

Ethan signaled Giselle that they go along with her plan and make her happy.

Giselle approved.

The three got ready in their best casual attires for visiting God and headed out together to the nearby cathedral. They attended mass together and picked up bagels for snacks upon returning home.

Sun, at its peak, shone across the city with its best heat. The mild, breezy wind grazed the green leaves, brushing against as they sailed across the cloudless blue sky. The midday came along with laziness that lingered in every home after a heavy lunch usually. But there stood three with a timer set on their heads till the dinner party commences.

The mass ended a little late, along with the time lost at the bagel store to get bagels because Ethan begged to taste New York's classic cuisine. Even with minimal activities, the three ended up returning home a little late than they presumed.

Giselle looked at the time, and it displayed a sharp 3 PM.

"Whose idea was it to leave home today?" she said, speaking in a low tone that frightened the young girl and urged her to hide behind her father's towering frame.

Giselle realized it was the child's request. She pinched the temple to calm her nerves, followed by a deep sigh.

"Fine, let's work together and start preparing the food already!" she announced, and the two bystanders agreed quick as lightning.

"I don't think anyone is hungry after the bags of bagels we swooped in one go. Whoever is hungry, you can pick it up and fill your growling tummies because we don't have time for steamed rice or curry tasting."

Against those words, the father and his daughter could never raise an argument and solely supported it religiously.

Giselle took control of the kitchen along with Ethan's help, while Lia did little chores here and there.

When sunset on the East Coast and the night king arrived in his grand chariot, Giselle finished her cooking. Meanwhile, Ethan set the table already and dashed to the nearby outlet to buy wine for the adults, and Lia, who tapped out towards the end, bathed clean and dressed pretty in her pink and yellow jumpsuit and twin pigtails.

Ethan swiftly returned with a bottle of Sauvignon blanc. He took a quick shower following to appear sharp in the semi-formal suit that he carried for any formal parties in case to attend. The suit itself had mild touches of casual aspects added in it while prevailing the classic finish. It matched his frame fit and perfect. To attach a modest effect, Ethan removed the coat that came along with the suit and left his grooming with only the shirt. He had a few facial hairs that did not stand out much to ruin his good looks. A fair amount of hair product to set his hair decent, and he came out looking chic.

Giselle looked at both, and they pleased her for the better. She then requested them to wait while it came to her turn to get dressed.

Ethan and Lia waited, played short, and are now watching Lia's least favorite cartoon in boredom. Giselle came out, and it stirred them to cast away their gazes to study her.

She wore a floral summer dress that made her appear pretty and young. The brushed hair danced across her shoulder blades, and she often takes her hand to lock them behind her ears. The lightweight makeup on her face did not stand out, and her smooth skin exposed to the sleeveless hands.

The three of them glanced at each other and nodded to their approvals.

Giselle looked at the time, and it displayed around 07:07 PM.
