章節 5: Cute little doggy!

After enjoying the zombie movie, Jade and Rebecca decided to walk home while enjoying the cool air. Jade also had to digest all the popcorn she ate before they arrived at Rebecca's home or she would've been unable to truly dig into the meal.

By the time they halfway reached her home the sun had already started to set, it was getting darker by the minute. They just passed an side street when they heard somthing rattle loudly out of the said street.

Still feeling a little bit quirky from all the zombies in the movie Jade immediately jumped closer to Rebecca while grabbing and squeezing her arm. Frightened she looked at the dark alley to the right.

"Is someone there?", she asked in a low and shaky voice. But just as expected no one answered her. Curious about the source of the sound, Rebecca tried to peek into the alley but couldn't make out anything in the darkness.

Just as she was about to switch on her mobile flashlight to shed some light on the darkness a silvery grey shadow jumped out of the alley, knocking over even more trash cans.

Continuing its rush the shadow jumped towards Rebecca's torso, effectively causing her to fall on her butt.

After the shadow stopped on top of her while pressing her down it lowered its head and licked over Rebecca's cheeks, leaving behind a wet trail. Opening her eyes that closed due to the shock she looked at the shadow.

"Oh my god Silvy! Why are you back here in that alley?", she exclaimed while furiously petting the huge silver dog on top of her. "Wait Becca, are you all right? Did it hurt you?" Jade asked her worriedly while shoving Silvy down from Rebecca and helped her up.

"No, I'm all right, it's just Silvy. She's a stray that's normaly around my neighbourhood. Look at her shiny fur! Isn't she super cute?"

"Yes, very", Jade answered. But even though she looked at Rebecca with warm eyes, her gaze turned icy cold when she watched the "dog" in front of Rebecca.

Seemingly feeling her gaze Silvy started growling at Jade. Watching both Jade and Silvy snarl at each other Rebecca stepped in to pacify both parties. "Jeez, what's wrong with you two? You just met each other, how come you already hate one another? Stop staring daggers at each other and let's continue home. I want to arrive before it's completely dark."

Rebecca picked up her bike with one hand, petted Silvy to make her follow her with the other and started walking again. While pouting because she was left behind Jade quickly took her bike and and followed the duo.

"Say, when did you meet Silvy? You two seem pretty close and I have never seen a stray like her around the neighbourhood. You also never told me about her before." Because Jade and Rebecca basically grew up together it wouldn't be an understatement to say that they knew each other better than themselves.

So them keeping secrets from each other only happened under some rare cirumstances. For example some that involved family and other private matters. But since Silvy was definetely not in one of those cathegories Jade was curious for the reason. If there was one at all.

"Well, it was actually a coincidence. I first met her on my way home from school a few weeks before the holdays. And since you know how it goes between me and fluffy animals... We became really close after about ten minutes of cuddling. As to why I didn't tell you... Ah, that's right, you were on some "family business" at the time. Also, considering your less than average enthusiasm towards animals I kinda forgot to tell you since I thought that you would be uninterested anyway."

"So you basically forgot, is that it?", Jade summarized it. "Yes." Rebecca replied in a mumbling tone with her head hung low. As if to cheer her up Silvy nuzzled her snout against her hand, acting coquettish. Rebecca simply couldn't resist the temptation of her fluffy fur and started petting her with one hand while stabilizing her bike with the other and continued walking. "But isn't she the best? Look at how she's comforting me.", she bragged about Silvy.

"Yeah, she really does seem sensible... for a dog that is.", Jade replied with a grin on her face. "I think she might actually let you ride her if you asked nicely. I mean she's definetely big enough to carry you and with the friendship between you two she might actually allow it.", she continued to tease both the dog and Rebecca.

Unhappy about her friends comments Rebecca started to complain. "Come on Jade, I know you're no good with most animals but please restrain your comments. Do it for me please?" Blinking her sky-blue eyes she stared into Jade's black ones. With a smile she added: "Or my hands might shake while making dinner with the jar of cayenne-pepper on them. Or chillies. You know how clumsy I can be right?"

Getting scared for her mouth's wellbeing Jade paled and apologized. "Please Rebecca, you can't do this to me! My tongue is super sensitive about spicy stuff and you know it! Plus you promised to cook edible today.... Wait! I didn't mean that you food is normaly inedible! It's just partly spicy and sometimes it has whole ginger pieces in it! It's really delectable otherwise!"

Realizing the slip in her vocabulary mid-sentence she hurriedly tried to appologize - but only made it worse. "Jade", Rebecca called with a sweet smile on her face and her friendliest voice. Sensing something bad incoming Jade turned a pleading gaze to Silvy, begging her to pacify Rebecca who was starting to release a dangerous vibe. But Silvy only turned her head away and ignored her.

"Jade", Rebecca called again, "I'm in the mood for some chillie today. You know, the one with the extra fresh spicy hot peppers and my personal mix of dried ones? Of course, you don't have to worry about your delicate tongue, we have milk at home, so the spicyness won't be too much. Are you happy now?" Looking at her smiling without any warmth in it Jade coud only relent to prevent it from getting worse... Or the milk might turn into an extra hot chillie milk shake.

But while she was crying waterfalls inside, she didn't miss the glint of schadenfreude that flashed in Silvy's eyes. "This god-damn mutt...", such thoughts added with some more curses were going through her head. Meanwhile Rebecca was thinking about the best chillie recipe she could think of involving as much chillie as it could without tasting purely of chillie.
