This is going to be a long journey till I get back home.
These words rang inside Arthur's mind as he kept on listening to Joseph and Rebecca. Arthur then tried to regain his composure. Being told and experiencing things are very different. The world was so vast that there were too many things that were stronger than him.
"So, will this young man join our guild?" Rebecca wiped her tears as she said this, the feeling of learning someone was alive while you thought they were dead could bring someone such mixed emotions.
Joseph took Arthur and put Arthur's arm on the desk, "Yes, that is correct! Now, Arthur, we will only need a bit of your blood to complete the contract into the guild!" Rebecca then took out a sharp knife which was so sharp that the knife that when the edge reached Arthur's palm it bled.
Arthur had the body strength of 230. There wasn't even much force put into the blade rather it was as if Rebecca was trying to prevent the blade from slicing his arm off. As the blade sliced Arthur's arm, a drop of blood fell down. There was a vial that the blood leaked into.
"Please wait a moment while I do the finishing touches to register you to our guild!" Rebecca ran to the back carrying the vial.
After waiting for a while, Rebecca came back and pointed to the Status Orb, "Now all we need is to know your status!" Arthur placed his hand on the Status Orb and his stats were displayed.
Status of Arthur Reeve: (Please note that the characters do not see the increase only you guys!)
Guild: None
Body Strength: 230 -> 250
Soul: 100 -> 110
Mental Strength: 140 -> 150
Magic: 1 -> 5
Talent: 2 -> 5
Rank: Unranked
Rebecca took a step back, "U-Unranked? Huh? Wait! Joseph, why was he unranked? I thought that he was at least at Infant Rank for you to recruit him!" Rebecca stuttered while she said this as being unranked means their stats were extremely weak.
Joseph pointed towards the Body Strength Stat, "Look at that before you doubt my decision." Rebecca once again examined the stats and was surprised as she didn't focus on his stats rather just his rank because usually, the rank of a person would determine how strong they were.
"2-250?! That's even more than when you were unranked! I doubt anyone at the same rank could rival that young man! He could even rival some Infant Rankers! But he only had a talent of 5 so his growth would be limited to how hard his effort would be." Rebecca's eyes were filled with shock and melancholy at the same time, such a magnificent young man that was blessed with extreme luck joined their guild but his growth was limited, extremely limited.
Joseph had a smug expression, "What if I told you that when I first met 2 weeks ago his Body Strength Stat was 40? And that his original talent was 1 in the first place!" Joseph kept on smiling as he was confident that Rebecca would have no more arguments.
"Joseph, I know you see that this young man was magnificent! I totally agree with that but... increasing so much with rising a rank and even rising his talent is just... something that only exists in legends. Perhaps you should get a drink for introducing us to this young man!
Joseph's expression did not change in the slightest, "I know you were going to say that as it was a part of my calculations! He learned and fully mastered the Full Strike Technique, Rock Hardening Technique and even surpassed my in Wisp Movement Technique." Joseph then motioned Arthur do those techniques in front of Rebecca.
"Full Strike"
A table was completely cut in half with just Arthur's bare hands.
"Rock Hardening"
Arthur asked some Infant Rankers and even an Adult Ranker but none of them could injure Arthur in the slightest. Just these ones of the techniques could rival Joseph for a few breaths and combined could stall him for a short while.
"Wisp Movement"
Arthur then left afterimages all over the Guildhall and no one could see his true body except Joseph who was at Emperor Rank. "My... god! This cannot be true! How could someone master these techniques so fast and be at the same strength as you Joseph?! I know it took you your entire lifetime to master these techniques to such degree but... such a young kid did that in less than half the time it took you if he was to study these at such a small age! And if what you said was true then... not even the one in a thousand genius the Silent Assassins Guild had could rival Arthur."
"Actually, in the fight against that one in a thousand year genius, Arthur won with that genius barely hanging on and being saved by his uncle at the very last moment."
Rebecca had no more arguments she could say as she was witnessing the rise of someone who will reach the heavens. Someone who will reach the rank of Deity.
Joseph pointed at the quest board, "Arthur, pick one of those quests!"
Arthur nodded in agreement and went in front of the quest board. He saw subjugation quests, collection quests, bodyguard quests, etc. He thought about what he was gonna pick, in the end, he picked a subjugation quest.
"Hmm... a subjugation quest huh? Well, no matter I will be there to accompany you! I will only intervene if you will be in danger so you could focus on improving your combat abilities."
Once Arthur and Joseph finished al the requirements to take on the quest they then went on the spot where the quest was supposed to take place. Upon arriving, "The quest said that there's a nearby village and they need the meat of 2 Boars, I wonder how you would catch these bears! Think of it as training on the battlefield."
Arthur went to the forest with wary, "Yes Sir Joseph, I will show you what I could do."
First Arthur tried to track the boars but to no avail, since he didn't even know the tracks of the boars and the dim light of the forest limiting his vision.
Afterward, Arthur waited in beside a tree waiting for a boar to appear later on. After waiting for a few hours one finally showed up.
Arthur waited for the perfect opportunity to kill the boar. Then upon the distance slowly fading Arthur attacked the boar with his might.
"Wisp Movement"
"Full Strike"
After leaving an afterimage in front of the boar, Arthur then appeared behind it and using his Full Strike Technique he managed to strike the boar in half.
Joseph left the shadows and appeared in front of Arthur. "Hmph! Not bad! Not bad at all! You only need one more boar then!" A smile appeared on Joseph's face as said his statement.
Arthur then hid once more and waited for another boar. He did his tactic one again.
"Wisp Movement"
"Full Strike"
Another boar got sliced in half by Arthur. Fulfilling the requirements, they went to the village and gave the meat they required. The village then gave a few copper coins to compensate Arthur for their troubles. While they were confirming the quest, the villagers were all looking at them.
Arthur thought that it was because they were outsiders. Little did he know what he had done.
After fulfilling the quest they then went back to the Guild to report their success.
"Congratulations on finishing your first quest! I hope you continue to take on taking more and more quests! I am personally surprised at the speed which you did the quest!" Rebecca was enlightened at the speed which Arthur finished his quest. This quest would have at least taken a week because of the difficulty of injuring the boar because of its very tough hide.
"Speed? Why was it fast? If anything it was quite a while it took me six hours to complete this task!" Arthur rested his head on his fist as he said this.
Joseph has a smirk on his face as Rebecca looked at him with surprise, "Joseph! Why didn't you tell this young man how impressive this feat was! Young mean, the boar's hide is very thick and it could even stop people who have a body strength of 400!" Rebecca then looks at Arthur with awe.
Arthur's eyes widened as he heard this. He only thought the boar would be as strong as the boars back in his own world so the possibility of it being extremely strong didn't cross his mind at all. Thinking back, when the villagers looked at him they were most likely shocked at seeing such a boar be in half considering its extremely hard hide.
Rebecca rubbed her forehead trying to make sense of the situation, "Hais! Such a prodigy! Too bad his talent is trash, I know that you could still strengthen your self with techniques but at the end of the day others still have more talent than you." Sounds of disappointment then appeared in her voice.
Joseph still had a smug expression as he took Arthur arm and placed it on the Status Orb.
Status of Arthur Reeve:
Guild: None
Body Strength: 250 -> 260
Soul: 110 -> 115
Mental Strength: 150
Magic: 5
Talent: 5 -> 7
Rank: Unranked
"I-I-I-It rose... his... talent rose... it just rose... right? Not just his talent but... his body strength... how? Ha... ha... ha... what a... monster..." Rebecca was already surprised at what Arthur could do but upon seeing his talent rise where no one in this kingdom could since no one knew how in the first place. Talent could be raised but no one knew how exactly that's why people in the land of Rhast were stuck with their talents.
Joseph put his hand on Rebecca's shoulder trying to calm her down, "I know right? That's why I said that he could surpass me! Everything he does increase his strength! He might even reach Intent Rank one day just like the rest of humanity."
"W-Wait... if he could increase his strength doing anything at all then doesn't that mean he could reach the Heavenly Realm? He might be able to reach the gods... and become the next Deity." Rebecca was already astonished at what this young man had already done but now breaking the norm which had stayed for hundreds of years, it was just purely unbelievable.
Arthur amidst this yawned signifying that he needed rest. Joseph and Arthur then went back to Rob's place to see how he was doing and to know when his research would be completed.
Before Arthur and Joseph reached their destination halfway, a few shadows were following them being as stealthy as possible.
