章節 3: Your favorites
Good thing Zoey decided to wear a mask before stepping out into the arrival area. She remembered Alfie's temperament and knew that he might do something stupid in broad daylight.
After hearing someone shouting, "Zoey here! Zoey here!" She pinched her glabella and said internally, 'Fuck this guy!'
Due to her embarrassment, Zoey walked out with her head down and started complementing herself by patting her shoulder and murmured to herself "Good decision girl!" When she reached them, she immediately snatched the banner and broke it into two. She glared at him as if she's telling him, 'Say another word and I'll skin you alive.'
He feared for his life after seeing Zoey's angry eyes. "My baby girl! Daddy misses you so much. Here! Here! We brought your favorites." Her dad broke the impending horrible fate that Alfie might face.
Alfie was silently thanking Mr. Alcantara for breaking Zoey's eye contact.
"Zoey, we got your favorite spaghetti and fried chicken. Manang also cooked palitaw and your other favorite dishes. Feast with it later at home. "Her mom said.
"Umm Tita can I also go and eat with you?" Zoey looked at this man and said. "Wow! For all these years, you haven't got rid of your infamous thick skin face. Hahahaha!"
They laughed together and went home.

Alcantara Residence
Zoey wasn't aware that her parents have invited almost everyone in town, whether she knew them personally or not; have or haven't ever heard of their existence on Earth. "What the --! Mom! Why are there a lot of people in our house? Who the heck are they?" Zoey stopped in her tracks and whispered to her mom when she saw a group of people in front of their gate.
"You haven't been home for eight years. Of course, everyone missed you." Her dad explained. This was the reason she didn't want to tell anyone that she's going home because she was sensing her parents will throw a welcome festival for her.
After their car halted in front of their residence, someone shouted, "Zoekella Faith!" It was her brother; he bear-hugged her as if he was trying to break her into pieces. Maybe this was how her brother tried to show his affection to his runaway sister.
"Ouch! You're crushing me. Stop! I can't breathe. Stop!" He was interrupted when someone had punched his back.
"If you want to kill your sister do it while she's sleeping, use your renowned scalpel technique." Eya, Zick's best friend, jokingly said after snatching her away from her brother. Zick and Eya were doctors in the most prestigious hospital in town. She doesn't know why her brother chose to become a doctor, despite his fear of blood when they were kids. Maybe this is her brother's major plot twist in life.
"For God's sake! Ate Eya! This is the first time you saw me after eight long years but guys are already planning on how to kill me? Where's the love?"
Eya touched her belly while laughing. "Hahahaha I was just kidding but don't blame me if he will really do it later while you're sleeping."
"Ate Eya stops teasing Zoey. Come on! Let's eat and celebrate her arrival." Alfie said as he was thinking of all the food he will devour on the dining table.
Alfie pushed Zoey inside while everyone followed.
3 hours later.
Everyone already bid their goodbyes and went to their homes.
Zoey slumped her body into the nearest couch. "I can't do this anymore! I still have a jet lag, you know?"
"Hahahaha! Zoey, this is just how everyone tries to show how much they miss you! Aren't you aware that you're always the talk of the town here?" Eya said while fixing her things and retouching her make up. Zick had offered to drive her home.
"After boarding the plane, I was already anticipating how long I'll sleep after I arrived home." She took two months' worth of overtime, just to be allowed to have a longer vacation. For her three years of career, this will be the first time she filed a five-month annual leave. Though her manager didn't want to sign her form but thinking twice he approved it right away, as she is considered one of the hard-working employee of the company.
"How long are you staying?" Zick asked. "I haven't been here for a day, and you're already asking when I will return." She pouted and crossed her arms across her chest.
Zick pinched his sister's cheeks and said, "You're over-thinking little monster!"
"Come on; send me home; I still have an early morning surgery tomorrow." Eya hugged and kissed Zoey after saying goodbye and dragged her brother out.
It's been a long day for her and now it is her time to take rest. After unpacking her things, she laid down on her bed and closed her eyes.
She was about to doze herself into dreamland when she received an unexpected message.
Message: I heard that you were in town. I hope to see you soon.
