章節 228: Becoming a Ghost

Several hours later.

"—Cut!"

The director looked over at the actors with a satisfied grin.

The morning filming went on smoothly, and he felt as if he could finish all the allotted scenes in one day. Even Yeo Ri, the rookie, had performed very well, he thought. She didn't need much direction and did exactly as he envisioned her character.

Although this was the first time the other actors worked with Yeo Ri, they, too, thought that she acted well and had already reached their level, therefore, after warming up to her through the long morning filming period, they treated her amicably.

"Great work, everyone. Let's take a break first, and we'll continue filming in half an hour or so."

At the director's words, everyone relaxed as the first part of the day's filming had ended. All the actors and crew members were given a break while the director and screenwriter discussed the storyboard for the next scene together.

The filming for the first part had gone smoothly, and though they had to do several takes for each scene to get different angles, everyone was more or less satisfied with the performance.

"Good work, Miss Yeo Ri. To be able to act so well at your age, you must be a natural," praised the actress, Go Se Rin, who played the heroine. She smiled and patted the younger girl's back encouragingly.

Yeo Ri's cheeks flushed from the praise. Yet another professional had praised her acting. So she was really that good? Yeo Ri didn't think she had done anything special; she only did as the script and director instructed.

Fidgeting, she accepted the praise with a flustered "thank you," and a bow.

"How cute!" The actor and actress playing the main hero and heroine couldn't help but tease her. Yeo Ri was much younger than them, and in their eyes she was just a little kid, so they felt as if they had to take care of her. After filming together for a few hours, they had gotten to know and like this pretty little rookie.

After chatting with the leads for a while, Yeo Ri finally excused herself and went to take her break.

She walked over to a group of girls wearing the same school uniform as she was. The break finally gave Yeo Ri the chance to get to know her co-workers; the supporting actresses who would be acting as her friends and classmates for the backstory part of the episode. There was even one person among them whom she had recognised as a fairly famous supporting role actress who had already acted in several successful dramas.

"Hello, please take care of me."

As Park Soo Yeon had instructed her, Yeo Ri gave her greetings to everyone.

"Hello!"

"Hello~"

"Hi."

A cacophony of replies could be heard from the group as they welcomed her. They were all around the same age and didn't think much about their manners and greeted her casually.

"I saw you act earlier. You're really good," the actress playing her friend said, flashing a smile towards her. Others nodded in agreement, showering Yeo Ri with more praise.

"Thank you very much," Yeo Ri bowed politely towards them. They were all clearly more experienced than her, so she felt that it was really an honour to receive such words from them.

As the break wasn't very long, Yeo Ri integrated herself into their conversation as they switched to talking about the next scenes that they were going to act in.

A while afterwards, the break ended, and everyone got into position once again.

The director planned to have the scenes with the ghost haunting the murderer at school finished first, so without taking off her earlier ghostly pale makeup, Yeo Ri executed her scenes just as how she was instructed.

She had little to no lines during the scenes, thus Yeo Ri had to rely on body language and expressions. According to what the director wanted, she was to make a 'stoic yet full of depth' kind of face, one you would expect from a corpse as she stared at the person who backstabbed her.

Yeo Ri thought back to the backstory of the two friends-turned-killer-and-victim.

The ghost was originally a normal girl who lived an easy life. She wasn't particularly rich but somehow was privileged enough to live without any worries. She had great parents and an easy-going personality, making her well-liked by her peers.

On the other hand, the murderer was her best friend, who came from a rich but strict household. The girl had a mean streak, but many thought that she ought to have some good points, since such a nice girl befriended her. Yu Na, the murderer, was truly good friends with Da Hee, the dead girl, however, deep within her goodness lied deep envy. Yu Na was constantly jealous of Da Hee. Da Hee was pretty, smart, and kind, and everyone liked her; even Yu Na's parents, who kept comparing them.

In the end, out of a fit of anger, Yu Na had snatched the hairpin Da Hee often wore—which had been her gift to Da Hee for her birthday the year prior—and killed her friend.

Yu Na had felt guilty at first, but as the days go by and she wasn't caught, her guilt dissipated. What was worse was that even though she had felt guilty in the beginning, she never once entertained the thought of turning herself in. She was only thinking of how to hide her crime and covering her tracks.

With the help of her father's connections, she had been successful in the clean up, however, with the existence of the psychic, her crime could not remain a secret—after all, the witness had been haunting her all along.

—And so, Yeo Ri's first day of filming ended.

Deleted the previous chapter since it was too filler-y. Here’s the replacement. Still filler-y. Hopefully I can hype myself enough this year to finish this story.
