章節 65: Becoming A "God"

Issei made the first move. Two fights had passed him by and he had yet to try his hand at this world's combat. He would try to abide by the bonus mission rules unless things got too dangerous, so he didn't teleport. Instead he launched himself at Raynare with holy energy and doubled the density of his arms.

He landed a solid punch on the fallen angel; evident by the fact that she flew a couple meters after being hit. She hadn't expected Issei to be so strong, as she knew that he had been a regular human just a couple days prior. Now serious, she condensed holy light spears and tried to impale Issei.

Dozens of holy spears acted as javelins, as Raynare tossed them at Issei like they were cabbages. Of course, Issei dodged the spears; he could tell their trajectory easily with his Fiendgod Eyes slowing down his perception of time to half speed. His eyes' abilities were heavily dependent on his physique and physical prowess, so his eyes also saw their abilities dim for now.

Issei condensed his own holy weapon; a heavenly staff. With a staff in hand, his style changed dramatically and he started to effortlessly make his way to Raynare; using his staff to deflect the holy spears that came his way, when he couldn't be bothered to dodge.

Once he was within CQC range, Issei's staff beat the ever living crap out of the fallen angel. It looked like he was mercilessly bullying her, rather than fighting. At this point, the fallen angel was already pleading Issei for mercy, which resulted in him completing the mission.

Issei didn't kill this fallen angel just yet, as he had some questions that needed answers. He said "Who are you and why did you call me your boyfriend earlier?"

Raynare had just sustained serious injuries, so she had trouble breathing. She said "You don't remember me?"

"No. I lost my memories when I was reincarnated as a devil."

Now Raynare was sweating bullets. She was still hoping to try and use her charm to get out of this situation as a last resort, but it seemed that the strategy would not work on this Issei — an Issei who wasn't a lecherous pervert. She said "I was… your girlfriend once."

Issei thought it was strange. He could clearly see that she wasn't lying; since she was weaker than him his Essense Sensing worked just fine, and her emotions didn't contain a hint of insincerity.

Issei said "Oh? Well why did you say that I didn't die like you asked?"

Raynare thought that she could scheme her way out of this mess. She had already seen that Issei didn't kill her immediately, and now that he was talking to her, she thought that perhaps it was possible to lie her way out. She said "I… asked you to die for me in a situation where either you or I had to die..."

She then went on a long made up story where she and Issei were on a ship that crashed and there was only one piece of debris that could be used as a raft. She said that Issei didn't want her to die while he lived, so he gave up the raft so that she could live on. Since Issei lost his memories of her, she thought it was safe to assume he wouldn't remember much of anything, so she took a gamble and just narrated some random nonsense. As she saw that Issei kept on listening to her ridiculous story seriously, she started to see him as an idiot and laughed at him in her heart.

As Issei watched her emotions go from honest, to scheming, to completely lying, and then to mocking, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. This woman sure was crazy; lying in such an extreme manner right to his face. Issei put his hand up, he was preparing to finish this scheming fallen angel off, but the latter saw it as a sign of forgiveness. She had been wounded and lying on the floor after being ruthlessly beaten by Issei, so to her, his gesture looked like he was going to help her up.

It was only after his sphere of lightning energy manifested that Raynare understood what was going on. By that point, it was too late to change anything and the lightning beam that shot off directly annihilated Raynare as well as large chunk of the park; luckily no bystanders were present, so no one got hurt.

Issei looked at the destruction he caused and sighed. In this world, magic and the underground factions associated with it, where hidden from regular humans, so he had to clean up his mess before normal humans caught wind of his actions.

It was at this time where his Elemental Creation and Armament Creation skills showed their usefulness, as Issei directly restored the park to its condition before the fight with ease. He used the Elemental Creation to restore the ground and vegetation he had wiped out and Armament Creation to repair or recreate the park decorations like benches and sidewalks.

Asia watched all this play out with a stunned expression glued to her face. What did she see? A man who helped her out of the kindness of his heart and took her out on a little breakfast date, now used holy powers of retribution to wipe out a god-fearing fallen angel. Then, that same man used his powers to restore the land and the damage of his battle?

In her imagination, Asia saw Issei's actions as those of a prophet of God. It didn't matter to her that he had access to demonic powers, if he could do all that she saw by only relying on the good lords chosen power! Asia approached Issei with stars in her eyes and said "Are you a prophet of God?"

"No? What's with the random question?"

"How can you not be a prophet? You have the divine powers of creation… Don't tell me… Are you God!!!"

Asia's ability to jump to conclusions was amazing… Issei was so befuddled that he unintentionally said "I was once an Immortal, but never a God. Maybe that's what comes after Immortality? Divinity..."

"Immortal like GOD?!" Now Issei could see Asia's emotions of worship towards him grow so intensely, he started to receive faith energy…

"Uh… I guess?"

"Wow. I can't believe I met a real God!"

"Asia… I lose most of my powers after making my ascension, so for now I'm not an Immortal."

"But you can reach divinity again right?" Asia was worried that the God she met would be stripped of his powers forever.

"Yeah, that's what I'm doing now."

Asia looked at Issei for a short while; she seemed to be making a hard decision in her head. In the end, she said "Can I… follow you from now on as a believer?"

"What exactly do you mean by that?"

"Mhmm… up until now, I have been able to live on as an excommunicated nun from the donations and charity of churches run by fallen angels, so I have nowhere to go… You being a god, I just thought maybe you could… um… find me a place to stay?"

"Huh?" Issei could not believe this development. But this girl was as helpless as he thought. He couldn't bare to let her live in the streets, so he agreed to her request. He could think of a couple places where he could let Asia stay, so he wasn't worried about not being able to fulfill her request.

But, right now he had school, so he couldn't deal with Asia for now. Thinking about school, made Issei realize that Asia wasn't that old; she was probably around his age. So he asked her "By the way, where do you go to school?"

"What?"

"What school do you go to? Surely you must be going to school. Right?"

"Uh… nope."

"Are you… over nineteen?"

"No?"

"Well, where do you get your education from?"

"The church was where I used to get my education..."

"Mhmm… Ok, I'll if I can pull some strings so that we can attend the same high school. However, right now I have class, so I have to get going. For today, I guess you can do whatever you want, but at eight o'clock at night be sure to meet me at this location." Issei passed Asia a map that he conjured out of Armament Creation.

Issei also said "Oh yeah, what's your favorite color?"

Asia didn't know why a god would want to know this, but she told him her sincere answer anyways. She said "I like white and blue things~" Her tone was a bit more playful.

Upon hearing her request, Issei created a nice white dress that had blue highlights. She was still wearing her nun outfit, so it would be in their best interest to not draw more attention to her than what was needed.

Asia looked at the dress with happiness. She thanked Issei with all her heart and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek, before her face flushed red and she ran away. Issei was caught off guard, but he quickly regained his cool. Now it was time to go to school again.
