Lin Wanwan resisted the urge to roll her eyes and pretended not to understand him. She continued to probe, "Do we know each other? My father said not to sit in a stranger's car."
Lu Zhanbei gave her a side glance, his expression plain. It seemed like he was sizing her up effortlessly, but it felt extremely oppressive at the same time.
Lin Wanwan subconsciously straightened her body and sat up, feeling the same sort of nervousness a primary school student might towards a headmaster.
This reminded Lu Zhanbei of the times his younger brother was punished when he was a child, and a playful thought crossed his mind.
"You can call me Uncle Lu." This answer was him beating around the bush once again.
"…"
Oh, I have never seen a person who takes advantage of others this much!
Was he still human for bullying a fool?! Was he?!
Lin Wanwan pretended to be ignorant. "Will an uncle kiss his own niece?"
Lu Zhanbei tilted his head slightly and his gaze came into contact with that pair of unforgettable eyes. He could not help but recall the moment he kissed her.
There was a slight tingling in his heart, as if a feather was falling down. However, this feeling lasted for just a moment, and its effect was negligible.
"A kiss of affection."
Affection my a*s! What a load of bull!
"Since you are my uncle…" Lin Wanwan reached out her hand. "Where is my welcome gift?"
Lu Zhanbei placed in her hand a white business card with the borders trimmed in gold. There was only a string of numbers on the card, along with the exquisite name: Lu Zhanbei.
Lin Wanwan tried her best not to show her obvious dissatisfaction and said, "Uncle, did anyone ever tell you before that you are very tricky?"
Upon hearing this, the sidekick-cum-chauffeur Gu Mo turned speechless in despair.
In the entire Xia country, there were no more than ten people who had his master's business card. There were plenty of politicians and businessmen who would beg for one.
She dared to despise it?
Lu Zhanbei did not change his expression. "Indeed there are. So I'm going to promise you another thing. If you run into trouble in the future, you can find me… thrice."
Only three chances?
Lin Wanwan's lips quivered.
Forget it. They were strangers to begin with. The fact that he was willing to help her thrice was already a very good thing.
Even though he was unwilling to state his reason for helping, she was not a real fool. Why would she reject such a godsend?
"Thank you." Lin Wanwan gleefully kept the business card.
Upon hearing her thanks, Lu Zhanbei felt a trace of doubt once again.
Based on what he'd seen thus far, besides being a little naive and innocent, she had no connection to the word 'fool' at all.
Was there a mistake in the rumor? Or… had she been acting all this while?
"Oh right, can you send me back to the Lin family?"
Lu Zhanbei closed his eyes to rest and suppressed the thoughts in his mind. "Sure. You're left with two more chances."
Lin Wanwan took a moment to recover herself.
"This is counted as one chance?"
Without any hesitation, she reached out and opened the car door. She flung herself out and rolled on the ground a couple of times.
This unexpected move changed Lu Zhanbei's expression slightly. As he got Gu Mo to stop the car, he quickly glanced outside as well.
"Don't worry, Uncle. I'm fine."
Lin Wanwan got up and flashed him a smile that was even more dazzling than the sun.
"I'll go back myself, so you still owe me three chances!"
Gu Mo's lips twitched. How was this owing? It was obvious that the three chances were given to her out of goodwill.
"Bye!"
Lin Wanwan waved her hand and wanted to walk off normally. Then she recalled she was supposed to be a fool, so she jumped a few steps then ran away.
Gu Mo asked, "Sir, shall we go after her?"
