"So, how do you like your new accomodation?"
Mahavar asked in a haughty tone which irked the boys.
"You should have told us that you are living separate and we together" Mahir said coldly.
"And ruin the fun? Nope... Not doing that"
"Besides, I don't work with a dysfunctional team. You three were assigned to me, so you better be getting along with each other."
"What's the point!"
Ashm spoke as he glared angrily at Emon.
"Do you think we will ever work as your dream team with this invalid around?" He said while pointing at her.
Emon held her emotions in control. She was used to people calling her all sorts of degrading things behind her, but she never took it to heart. Ashm was still honest enough to admit it infront of her.
... And she would never forget how he had taken that full force upon himself just to protect her. The sight after that was still etched in her mind.
Mahavar gave a stern look to Ashm.
"If we are going to work as a team, we need to respect each other. Only then will it work."
Ashm scoffed but kept quiet.
Mahir watched Emon's expression. She calmly looked at everyone as if nothing really happened. Any other person facing such harsh ambience would either run away crying or lash out in rage. But she appeared serene, her eyes strangely held a light which gave a completely different aura... As if she wasn't who she appeared to be... Rather, someone with all the experiences of life.
Strange how he had never noticed it...
Mahavar resumed about his plans.
"Starting tomorrow you will be here by 6. We will start with the basics first and gradually move up to stratagems."
"Um... Mahavar... You sure I will be compatible with them? I haven't had any practice actually" Emon initially didn't want to interrupt Mahavar's plans since he wanted the group to sync with each other. But since he wasn't stating anything different about her, she had to ask.
Mahavar looked at Emon's troubled face and answered,
"Don't worry, I haven't put you in practice with them anyway. So you'll just need to sit and enjoy the scene"
Emon blinked as the words settled within her.
Sit and enjoy? Seriously? What happened to all that hailing about teamwork and spirit? How did he so easily pick her out of the practice?
Mahavar noticed her displeased expression. He smiled inwardly as he realised her zeal to participate and get better.
"Okay... Get out of my house now! I'm done explaining things"
Ashm scrunched his face when Mahavar asked them to leave. He had hoped he would discuss more Brios and Major properties with them but no! This old geezer is bent on lazing his days away!
That night their housekeeper Mosey gave the final blow...
"I'm truly very sorry ma'am, sirs... I am an inefficient worker and I deserve the hardest of the punishments for leaving the three of you unattended for the coming days... But for my ailing son I would have never even thought of such a thing... I'm so sorry..."
Mosey was genuinely dissapointed and apologised from his heart.
Mahir and Ashm looked like they were about to cry... How much can one take?
Emon maintained a stoic face but was rolling with laughter inside as she watched the two look like being left alone before the wolf!
Wait... So.. she was the wolf here?
She coughed out as it was becoming hard to control laughing. Ashm shot daggers at Emon. He sensed her enjoying the scene and was thoroughly angry.
Is she stupid? How can she laugh at a time like this! Who's going to cook now? And that too for the three of them!
"Don't worry Mosey, I really hope your son gets well soon. We'll be fine..."
Mahir and Ashm instantly glared at her.
We'll be fine??? Seriously??
Emon if noticed their shocked expressions didn't react.
Mosey left after an hour and the house broke apart...
"Are you crazy? How could you let him go?? Now who's going to cook for us?" Ashm roared.
"Use your brains before you decide anything. He leaving the house means we will starve to death. This is a tea estate, you won't find any diners or food stalls" Mahir said coldly.
"Plus the washing cleaning and all the chores? How on earth are we going to manage?"
Ashm continued.
Emon observed the boys whining away like kids. Atleast they agreed on something. She glanced at the time it was 6 in the evening. Lunch was free at Mahavar's place... Now for dinner...
Emon ignored their complaints and went to the kitchen.
Ashm and Mahir did not expect her to completely ignore them!
'I thought she would appear guilty or start crying!' thought Ashm.
Mahir felt irked at this behaviour. He was so used to girls fawning over him. Absolutely no one ignored him. They would even start appraising his sigh if it mattered.
... Okay that was revolting truly.
He shrugged off the pictured of those girls in his locality practically sticking themselves to him everytime he went out of the house... And this girl had the guts to ignore him like he was a bug!
