章節 33: just believe me girl, we'll have it good

For the first time in a long long time, I could close my eyes, knowing I was safe in his embrace. Everything was finally falling into place and slowly, eyelids giving in, I fell asleep.
It was a calm sleep. I have no idea how long it'd been since I had a proper rest but I felt so light when I woke up. I remember being grabbed into his arms from the burning ground and having flown into the air high above the dark skies until brief light was seen and soon I closed my eyes and gave in.
I must say thanks to him for saving me, and also say sorry for running away. As guilt washed over me I reluctantly got up from the well know massive bed and took a quick bath before changing into new cloths from his closet. I assumed he wouldn't mind if I borrowed one of his black shirts and belts, and even if he did I wouldn't care because I'd rather not walk around naked.
I opened the door only to be greeted by 4 large body guards wearing the infamous masks of this underworld accompanied by a dragon right in front of my door. It roared loud.
*face slap*
Did I really think I was going to have it easy after escaping from here when I was strictly forbade to even leave underground.
Yeahhh nope.
I tried walking through them but to know use as the pushed me violently back into the bedroom and slammed the massive granite door with a BANG!
Aimlessly, for the next hours, I sat on his bed uselessly, not doing anything, until I heard the door open. There he walked in, majestically, like a king and nothing less.
I observed his features briefly and realised only now how stunning he looked. His features were well carved, blessed by the diety's one could say. I only ever focused on his unbearably arrogant and self obsessed character, lashing out impulsively whenever I encountered him. Even to the point of escaping this place. So many times I wish I could've left.
But what was really behind this beautiful mask of his?
Was this all a set up?
Was he really this unsupportable man?
Suddenly, a thought came across my mind.
You love him. Only when you stop to realised the person behind a mask and really begin to see the person behind the facade is when you truly love someone. It's when you truly care about someone.
It's true. But I can't tell him. Not now at least. Because now is not the right time.
He broke the silence as I reverted me gaze on him as fast as the speed of light, to a vase with a withered black plant in the corner of the room.
" hm. "
That's the only thing that came from his mouth the moment he walked in but he didn't need to say anything because I could clearly read that he was not happy.
He didn't give me a slightly warmer look like he did when we slept together once.
Now he gave me a cold unwelcoming look, sending shivers all over my body.
I wasn't afraid of anything but him because he was powerful and no doubt ruthless. I couldn't ever hate him.
For a few minutes, sitting across him, he stood there like a rock, boring into my eyes. He strode towards me, and closing my eyes in reflex, he swiftly sat next to me.
" just believe me girl."
Stunned by his words, I looked at him.
" what do you mean?" I answered in curiosity but also in worry.
" do you trust me? " he answered.
For a second, I was about to say no. But I thought about everything he did. For me. He gave me a place to live, he didn't punish me for escaping but rather he saved me. I had no reason to deny. Plus, my heart was telling me to say yes. So I did exactly that.
Hesitantly, I said yes.
"mhm," he answered, nonchalantly, nodding in approval.
His eyes moved towards my lips...
I don't know what would become of me or even in fact us, but all I knew thus far was that I was safe and I could trust him wholeheartedly.
