As mentioned earlier, the pool was split into two sections, one part shallow and the other of normal depth. For the purpose of the class, the shallow part of the pool was for the kids to familiarize themselves with the sensation of water before proceeding to the other part of the pool to start the lesson.
After all, how would you expect the coach to teach swimming when the water barely reached the lower part of their knees?
To protect the safety of the children, the pool provided them with arm floaties and swim rings.
When Lin Xi saw there were other children his age practicing to swim on the other side of the pool, his latent competitiveness kicked in. In fact, the boy started to crawl on his own towards the deeper parts of the pool.
Xiu Ling picked her wiggling boy up from the floor, grabbed a swim ring and waded into the water, her mouth saying, "Alright, alright, don't need to get all hasty, Lin Xi. Wait for mummy."
Xiu Ling walked to the middle of the pool and allowed Lin Xi to float beside her. Then, she waved to get the attention of one of the available coaches before turning back to keep an eye on her son. Lin Xi was overly thrilled in the water and Xiu Ling was afraid he might accidentally slip through the hole of the swim ring or something like that.
Right then, Lin Xi tried to paddle away from her, kicking his tiny legs in the water like a newborn duckling. He was heading down a particular direction, his lips mumbling, "Dada..."
Xiu Ling quickly rushed forward to grab hold of her son before he slipped away from her. Then, she turned her head to where he was rushing down earlier. Xiu Ling had to admit she was impressed by what she saw.
The man was sporting a black swim trunks that reached his knees, the length was just right to show off his powerful thighs. The muscle of his upper body was tight and taut, not one trace of the flabbiness that one would come to expect from someone who worked a desk job. The man was thick-shouldered and his body had volume.
Not only Xiu Ling but a number of female guests' attention was caught when Lin Kang made his appearance. However, unlike the other female guests who blushed with shyness, Xiu Ling merely turned back to pay attention to their son. The indifference with which Xiu Ling treated him for some reason irked Lin Kang.
When he came out of the dressing room and saw what his wife was wearing, that level of discontentment in his heart only continued to rise.
Lin Kang jumped into the pool and instead of heading towards his wife and son, he swam towards the coach that answered Xiu Ling's earlier call. He had a bone to pick with this fella.
The coach was a young man in his 20s who was probably there to earn some summer income by working part-time. He did not have any professional certificate but that was fine because in all honesty, the family class was in essence just a chance for most families to have fun together at the pool, the real goal was not really to pick up any impressive swimming skill.
When the young man noticed Lin Kang swimming towards him like a shark smelling blood, his heart froze. As Lin Kang emerged before him, the young man stuttered, "Mr... Mr. Lin, it... it is nice to see you. Do you have... any questions about today's teaching module or..."
"Leave," Lin Kang only had one word for the young man, and it was uttered in a tone that was dripping with danger and warning.
"Huh?!" The young man was baffled by the sudden command. Before he could make heads or tails of the situation, Lin Kang swiveled his head around to level a wintry gaze at the young man. With a tone that was as chilling as his gaze, Lin Kang warned, "Don't make me repeat myself."
The young man shrunk and he uttered a hasty, "Yes... Yes, sir" before turning to escape for his life.
Lin Kang nodded satisfactorily. He had no idea what came over him but the thought of any man being close to Xiu Ling when she was in her bathing suit gave him a destructive urge. The young man should be thankful that he ran fast enough or else god knows what unfortunate fate might befall him.
When Lin Kang got close to Xiu Ling, he stood in such a manner that his large body would block Xiu Ling from the view of other guys. Xiu Ling did not understand what the man was doing, she assumed he was acting fidgety from the excitement of being in the water like how his son was.
Then Lin Kang asked apropos to nothing, "Why are you dressed in such little clothing?"
Xiu Ling was confused by this question of his. She was wearing a modest dark-coloured one-piece, it was conservative and had nothing eye-grabbing about it. From Lin Kang's perspective though, he noticed how the elastic material of the bathing suit accentuate his wife's figure. Xiu Ling looked around and she realized there were other female guests who were in more revealing outfits than she was so she failed to understand what kind of problem her husband was having with her get-up.
'But we're at the pool,' Xiu Ling wanted to say but to prevent a conflict, she switched the topic to the reason why they were there that day, "By the way, Lin Kang, did you see the coach? What is taking him so long?"
Xiu Ling was busy entertaining Lin Xi when Lin Kang had the small and swift confrontation with the young man so she was confused why the coach had taken so long to reach them. It was why she had posed that question to Lin Kang.
