She was laying on her belly, out in the grass. She leaned her cheek into her hand as she kicked her legs back and forth in the air.
A few steps away was the garden, withholding poisonous flowers and beautiful roses. 'Arius must have some sort of obsession with the color red.' She thought to herself.
"Zuzu!"
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Arius was walking over, and behind him followed Azlia.
"What a nickname." Zuna said sarcastically as she glanced at him. Noticing something else though, her attention was taken by Azlia, as she made a beeline for the garden.
Arius's first thought was to stop the puppy from getting near Zuna. Then, realizing he didn't need to, he calmed down. Once again however, he grew anxious. The garden!
Zuna sprung into a kneeling position and lunged for the puppy while still on the ground. She was lucky enough to capture the ball of fluff. She leaned back into a sitting position with the puppy in her arms, which was struggling to get away.
Arius was beside her now, sitting down along with her. "Suppose I might need to have someone build a fence."
"Shouldn't you think about fixing the wall?" Zuna spoke without lifting her gaze from Azlia. Running a hand through her fur and then smiling contentedly.
"It's not my priority."
"Your priority is Azlia then?"
"Her, and you! Today is the day after all! Go ahead, guess what day it is."
"I know what day it is, I don't have to guess."
Arius looked at Zuna with a steady gaze and soon spoke, "Don't worry too much about Tibet. You two will make up and go back to being friends."
"Are you sure?" Zuna narrowed her gaze at Arius.
"Definitely. If he doesn't forgive you, Eirik will pummel him." Arius leaned back into the grass with his hands supporting the back of his head.
"Uh huh." Zuna rolled her eyes, along with a movement of waving a dismissive hand in the air.
"Hey."
"Hm?" Zuna looked at him.
"I love you."
"Okay?" Zuna looked unconcerned.
"What? That's it? No reaction?"
"Well, I already knew."
Arius was dazed. What does that mean?! Does she not care? With bewilderment, he asked, "How do you feel about that? Are you really so unaffected?"
Zuna looked at him with raised eyebrows. "Do you think this is the first time someone has fallen for me? I've built up a tolerance! And besides that, why should I care?"
"Oh." Arius suddenly realized what was happening. He didn't know what his next move would be, but at least he knew that he wasn't making her uncomfortable.
The two fell into silence. It wasn't awkward or anything, just that Arius was a being a bit too obvious while he was staring at her.
Zuna successfully ignored his burning gaze as she held the puppy within her arms, yet she couldn't stop the blush from appearing on her cheeks.
"Hey... so, why can't you affect small creatures?"
After being given something to focus her attention on, Zuna quickly answered. "Well...! If I killed everything alive within a certain distance from me... plants, insects, bacteria, and everything else would be no more! The amount of power that would take on a daily basis would be completely stupid! Not at all practical! Besides, I said before, right? The more life force in something, the more likely my ability will focus in on it."
"Then, as an immortal, shouldn't your ability zone in on me more often?"
"That-" Zuna quieted down in contemplation. After a moment she looked at Arius in the eye and shrugged. "I guess it's already been used on you too many times."

That night, before leaving with Zuna to go find Tibet, Arius finally asked Eirik a question that had been on his mind for a while.
"Why did you neglect Zuna when she was younger?"
"She told you about that?"
"Yea."
Eirik looked at Arius with deep thought before saying, "I was unfair. I couldn't look at her, knowing she caused her mother's death."
"So, why exactly did you change your mind?" Arius knew that it was around the time Zuna's sister died that Eirik came around.
"She cried for her sister, who she had never met. She hadn't mentioned that to you, did she?" Eirik looked on in regret. Although there wasn't much change in expression, as usual.
I've been sick lately, so I haven't exactly been up for writing. I'll get back on that now. Also, this chapter has a sort of a filler vibe.
