章節 6: Chapter 6-Assassins

After the banquet ended, Da Ying was carried off in a carriage given by Consort Yao. The carriage headed towards the west road, where her Thousand Lotus Pavilion resided. Thousand Lotus Pavilion was the furthest courtyard. A 30 minute ride by carriage from her courtyard to the Grand Hall.

Da Ying was already half way there when she realized something was off. Her brows scrunched.

Her hand went to slightly lift the corner of the curtain. There wasn't a single watch guard on the road. There was only her and the four carriage carriers.

It was all her now. She had sent Ban Shiang on an errand before returning on her own.

Da Ying let down the curtain and rested her eyes for a moment. Suddenly her lips formed a small smile.

"Too eager to kill me?" She didn't think they would be so eager to act against her this soon. Her blood rushed with excitement.

The wind blew hard in the night but that didn't stop Da Ying from hearing what was outside. She could hear the light footsteps of people approaching. Only those with good martial arts would've been able to detect their light air-stance technique. Not to mention, figure out how many of them.

Unknown to her, there was a shadow following her the whole time. His gaze never leaving hers. When the man saw the assassins approach fast, his first reaction was to help her. Before he could take one step forward, he stopped in his track when the curtain of her carriage lifted up from the wind. Where was the weak and timid woman from the banquet. What he saw in front of his eyes was a beautiful woman whose expression was full of killing intent. She was twirling around a dagger in her hand.

From his position on top of the tree, he watched as she slowly stepped out of the carriage. Her carefree actions was like someone coming out to meet a friend,. There was no trace of fear on her face.

She came out after the carriage carriers had been killed. The four assassins in black, seeing that she didn't run or panic, quickly cornered her. "It's a pity gongzhu. You're quite pretty. Sadly you'll have to die." One man expressed his regrets. He truly regretted, killing such a beautiful woman was really a waste.

Da Ying's brows lifted up with curiosity. "Oh? Can this princess ask what her crime is then?"

"Princess Da Ying should be asking herself that question. We are only paid to take care of people like you. Don't know who you could've offended, but... why don't you have some fun with us first. I promise a fast death afterwards." Another man suggested with a playful voice, only to hear Da Ying laugh out loud. Her laughter filled with mockery; anyone hearing it would get annoyed, just like those four assassins. "With your Tian Mei skills, you think you can kill this princess? Let alone ask to play? If you beg me to kill you quickly, this princess might consider it." Her words once again were filled with pure arrogance. Something in her tone of voice sent chills down their spine. As an assassin, they had witnessed many of their victims curse and threaten but this was a first for them to actually feel an ounce of fear. Her voice left goosebumps on their skin.

"Princess Da YIng knows our sacred Tian Mei skills? I'm afraid that's more than enough reasons to kill you." The same guy who was being flirty with her said, pointing his sword straight at her head. The man in the shadow almost dashed to her aid once more when he saw she was in real danger.

Before he could even make a move, she had already dodged the sword aiming at her. With a quick and swift dodge to the right, she barely missed the blade. He watched her for a long time. It was long enough to know she was playing defense the whole time. The man in the shadow quickly gained interest. She was clearly just toying with them. Her light steps, smoothly dodging every strike. The shadow man could tell at once, she had good martial arts skills.

He crossed his hands, leaned on the tree and continued to watch.

All four assassins quickly realized that they couldn't even touch a strand of her hair. At this point, they wanted to abandon the job. It didn't take long for them to realize something was off about their victim. How could such a fragile and timid looking woman dodge all four of their Tian Mei swords?

They stopped, looked at each other and then formed a line, pointing their sword at her.

"Tsk...tsk...Tian Mei skills surely lack in many areas." She then pulled out a thin needle from her sleeve. "Let me show you my poison needles. Let me tell you, one prick from this needle and it won't take long for her heart to burst within." She warned.

All four men looked at each other.

Da Ying's hand moved quick and swiftly. With one flick of her wrist, four needles shot out of her sleeve. They didn't have a chance to react as there body weakened. In less than half a minute, they were on their knees.

Da Ying took slow strides over to them.

"You..." One man clenched his chest while trying to say something. But the pain in his chest was so intense he could not.

"Don't worry, you'll be dead in..." She smiled. "Right now." Just as she finished speaking, all four of them dropped onto the ground lifelessly.

Da Ying was ready to leave the scene when she felt a presence. She made a sudden turn towards the direction of where the shadow man was standing. Her eyes stared intently at the tree. She was sure she had heard the leaves rustle from there. "Who's there?" She asked. She quickly reached into her sleeves and in the next moment, three silver needles darted towards the tree. When no movement was detected, she proceeded to leave the scene.
