章節 5: Why Are You So Heartless Mr. Tenshi? (P1)

Every thing else after that was a blur; even Tenshi himself didn't know how and what happened after the chat directory closed itself automatically.

Tenshi, although he didn't know how, felt that he was currently lying on the floor with a vacant and indifferent glare in his eyes.

Do you know what's worse than agony or sadness? It's indifference; a striking numbness in your chest as your lungs constrict and expand; it would feel as if your chest was loaded with tons of heavy metal.

Tenshi was left with only one question in his brain: what now?

But before all of this, he must clear his mind first; because decisions taken under the influence of emotions rarely end up well.

Tenshi crouched and eventually stood up with a hoarse grunt, his eyes trembled as they went towards the computer screen displaying a notification saying that he had received 8 bitcoins in his wallet.

Tenshi didn't want anything to do with that money; it could well be illegal cash sourced through illegal I means.

[You surely are cautious; paranoid even.] — a dark, growling voice came from nowhere as Tenshi flinched.

What?

Tenshi looked around himself, his room, and didn't manage to notice anyone standing or hanging there. And even then for extra measures he walked towards his computer and turned it off, believing that it might be causing it.

[You didn't really have to do that though. I can't enter computers or even operate them; much less hack it and transmit my voice over them.]

Tenshi stopped in his tracks, and immediately pulled out his phone to dial the nearest hospital. He himself knew very well that certain types of shocking situations could send people into episodes of hallucinations.

Tenshi typed 111 on his phone and was just about to click the dial button; but his hands immediately turned immobile as his eyes tell on his left hand, which was donning the same watch he picked up back then.

Tenshi's mind snapped as he threw his phone on the bed and tried to loosen the watch, his angry expression expressed whatever he wanted to say.

He wanted to sell this watch to go on a date with her, but it turns out that she's cheating!

The only word Tenshi could sum up for his character up until now was: he was just being a cuck.

The one exchanging promises with her was him, so were did Endou come from?!

As expected, his idea of women were all true. The memories, promises — nothing. Not even a single one meant much to her.

[Easy there Tenshi. The anger will only make you a weaker person, not stronger.]

[You think women can escape the magical powers of "tingles"? Basically, he was more better in every category than you, and she had every right to leap on him.]

Tenshi shook his head, and eventually gave up on trying to resist the temptation to bash his head on the wall.

Tenshi was dying from within, he felt as if something within him broke. So he might as well deviate some ache from his heart by talking to the alter persona living in his brain.

<So...if you're here to comfort me or help me travel more deeper in self-pity, I accept your offer. Maybe it'll at least help me man up.>

[I'm not here for that, I'm here to help you Tenshi.]

<Heh! How? By making me remember the memories I shared with her? >

[You see that watch in your hands?]

Tenshi looked at his left arm; it was pale and slightly shaky, as if it lacked the blood supply to even stably hang from his body.

And at the end of his arm, that cursed watch was located. It was shining and it occasionally stopped shining; only to shine more brighter than ever.

Tenshi frowned in disbelief.

<What the hell is happening to me? Are you some kind of demon or vampire that has emptied my blood supply?!>

[Is that the best you can come up with? No over-the-top are-you-a-goddess-that-wants-to-marry-me-and-take-me-to-another-world?]

<Wait a second, what are you and what is that watch?>

[Oh don't worry Tenshi. Nothing drastic has happened, it's just that you're now the 21th host of the «Golden Watch». And I'm your advisor, nice to meet ya']

[I suppose you won't understand it like this—]

Tenshi's eyes dilated in disbelief as three blue screens blinked into existence in front of him. They zigzaged around the room and moved to a position where he could make out the text on it more clearly.

[Welcome Tenshi Ayama.]

[Wait a moment...executing host's dashboard...]

Tenshi immediately recognized whatever was on the screen after he realized that it matched a game he used to play a while back.

Being evil isn't bad — it was the quote plastered on the game's loading screen, and indeed, it was controversial.

That game didn't have a leveling system — or even anything remotely related to fantasy or powering up.

Thousands and thousands of players formed cities, empires using technology based on real life — they formed laws, governed, levied taxes and created governments.

But the catch was, the real buying power in the game was money — a system called the Karmic System wherein only bad deeds were accounted for, and rewarded.

The more you murdered, the more you backstabbed, the more scandals, the more rape, the more looting, the more deaths you've caused — the more successful and powerful you became, because everything bad in that world was rewarded.

Whatever you do in that game, the only rule was to never be good.

[Indeed, that's how this system is designed to be. Although it's not exactly like that.]

[The system works in a simple manner: it's used for the slavery of humans and for causing misery. The more misery and evils you commit — the more the system rewards you with things that you've never even thought possible.]

[Now, there are no such thing as supernatural beings in this world — maybe there are, I don't know. I'm a new one here so I apologize. But the watch has features powerful enough to be categorized as supernatural. ]

[Don't tell anyone i said this but you don't necessarily have to be evil though. You just have to complete the quests the watch gives you without any complain and it'll give you whatever you desire.]

『Whatever you desire...』

A voice whispered in his ears as Tenshi's body jerked forward uncontrollably. A chill slowly started to envelop his body as he heavily breathed.

<So, what's the hypnosis slot for? >

[I told you, right? It's in the name. You can manipulate others, brainwash them, nullify their morals, change their opinions, and replace their memories.]

[Although at this moment you can only do the last one.]

[The basic thing is: fulfill quests, which will earn you some bad karma regardless of whether it tells you to rape a woman or lovingly caress a baby. Which will in turn increase the amount of hypnosis slots you have and maybe unlock the shop.]

<But wait, don't you have an ulterior motive or something? The basics of evil are to never do anything that doesn't benifit you, so why are you helping me? >

[Simple, we want you to burn the world, and corrupt it. Isn't it your dream become the Governor of Tokyo; which your mother unfortunately couldn't become, and slay the left-wingers that opposed her rule?]

<Wait, how do you know that??? >

[I can access your memories.]

Tenshi's brain was numb anyways so he could care less about that.

<Well, I have no objections towards killing them and burning their entire families; I wouldn't even mind salting their lands for good measure. >

[See, that's what we want. The watch is evil, and wants nothing more than to see everyone drown in darkness.]

[Oh, and look, a quest!]

"DING!"

A screen blinked in front of him.

[Quest: Commit Patricide]

[Details: Patricide: such a good word, right? But then again, it isn't anything related to a parrot or the famous fictional starfish: Patrick. It's the word used for the act of conveying the meaning of killing your father; the biological one nonetheless.

Let's begin our journey with a bang! Kill your father!]

[Goals: Kill 「Sanada Ayama」]

[Rewards: -1KP point.]

[Time Limit: 1 Hour.]

[Consequence on Failure: Death.]

Tenshi nodded his head; and even though he didn't want to do it b—

Oh wait, there was no reason to be afraid. He could just use hypnosis on his father and make him kill himself, then it'd be safe, no worries.

Tenshi had no morals — well, unless it came to his family or those who he perceived as "family". Otherwise benefits first. Which also applied here, but then again, that little bitch dared to insult his mother, so he could go and fuck ducks in hell.

Oops, cursing is immoral.

Tenshi coughed a bit. And said in his mind, <So, how does the Karma system work?>

[The Karma system works quite simply. You do bad deeds, you earn points. But the thing is, even one point is hard enough to earn.]

[The simplest way I can explain this to you is — if you murder an innocent person you'll receive -10KP, and if you murder someone with with a certain amount of good karma, you'll earn -100KP. And if you murder someone with Karma in the negatives, you'll earn only one point.]

[The basic feature of the Karma System is that it can be used to buy things from the shop and increase the hypnosis slots by paying a certain fee.]

Tenshi was over one thing though.

<I haven't even committed murder or anything yet, then why do I have -10KP? >

[The worst thing one can do to a dead person is so forget about them — that's why the watch awarded you with -10KP since you've clearly forgotten about Kanae, haven't you?]

<Yeah... >

<Now well, can I test the watch's function on my father? Or is it not allowed? Otherwise I'm dead. And if it's allowed, how do I use it? >

[It's simple, show your targets the watch and I'll take care of the rest.]

[And by the way, don't get caught.]
