"That was a good audience kid" Thomas said as he walked towards James. He tapped James on the shoulder as he added. With this, the only thing I can do is pray for your safety and victory. Only with you can my daughter be happy."
"It is all thanks to you. Because you defended me in there was I able to convince the king." James said with a humble voice. A soft voice followed, "Thank you."
"Don't worry kid. Even though because of my son, I now have family ties with them, I never liked them. I would love to see them lose some power." Thomas said in a hushed voice, as he was whispering to James. He continued, "I would rather have a trustworthy ally, compared to a wickedly ambitious person such as Jake Herewealth."
The two of them were talked about the upcoming battle as they made their way outside of the Palace.
As they exited the palace, an angry shout was directed towards them, "You filthy lowborn! Because of you my father has lost face!" The one that was making his way towards them was none other than Edgar. He was so angry that his hand was on his hilt, at the ready to draw at any moment.
Noticing this, Francis stepped forward, blocking Edgar's way towards James. Even the surrounding palace guards got ready in case something was to happen.
"Calm down Edgar. This is not the place to act like that." James replied with a cal manner. Unlike Edgar, James did not lose his composure the moment he saw Edgar. Even though he had a deep hatred towards him, James knew the location he was in and the company he got. Especially next to Thomas Bloom, he wanted to act as mature as possible.
Hearing the way James spoke to him, Edgar's voice got even louder compared to before. His face even got red as he shouted in anger towards James. "How dare you, a lowly peasant noble, speak to me as if we were equals?" This time, the grip on his hilt was more apparent as it slowly started to sheet.
"Be careful what you are doing kid. This is neither the place nor the time." Thomas butted in, to stop the confrontation from escalating.
"How dare you order my child around?" Another angry voice came from the palace courtyard. Stamping his feet on the ground, Jake Herewealth made his way towards the commotion.
Even other nobles started to surround them at this point, as the commotion started to spread across the courtyard.
The surrounding guards were now even more on edge because of the escalating situation. Some of the guards even had an annoyed look on their face as they saw Jake approach. They had already thrown him of the palace with the king's order, and now he dared to create another ruckus. And not only that, even his son was an instigator. They wanted to save him some face, therefore they decided not to act at the moment. However because of the entire ongoing ruckus, some of the knights even drew their swords, just to warn the surrounding that they were not willing to tolerate any misbehavior.
However, Jake did not stop as he continued his disrespectful behavior. Pointing his finger angrily towards Thomas, Jake started to threaten Thomas, "You bastard dare to slander my name! I will never forgive you for that Thomas! Once I am done with this piece of scum, you will become the target of my house's wrath!"
Hearing those words, the surrounding nobles were starting to whisper. Talks like; "Look at that, I thought that the Herewealth was a noble and gracious family. But apparently they are just a bunch of animals. They cannot even control themselves." and "Look at that young noble, even though he is from a lower house, he can control his composure. I hope that he will be able to beat the Herewealth family." started to become more repeated during their talks.
With anger, Jake shouted out, towards the surrounding nobles, "Who said that? Just wait, in due time, it will also be your time!"
Jake and Edgar were met with disdainful eyes from the surrounding at this point. There was not a single noble house that would like to have anything to do with him at this point.
James walked forward at this point and spoke up, "No matter how much we argue at this point, there is no stopping the upcoming battle. I can only hope that the righteous and just will come on top of this battle." With that, James accompanied by Thomas and Francis, walked past the Herewealth family members as they made their way outside of the courtyard.
