章節 98: Start of the Party

Seeing the top 10 competitors walk forward to the podium, Loraine started to take note about them. This was because these 10 competitors had the highest chance of becoming a chef for her new store that would be opening soon.

These notes were a bit more about their characters as well as their ways of movement. Moreover she also connected them with the dishes that they had made.

Having this information, Loraine believed that it would be easier for her to approach the competitors during the after party ball. Her only dear was that some of the nobles also might show interest into the more elite chefs.

As the top 10 walked forward to receive their prices, Mira felt excitement build in her. Even though she only made it to the 8th position, it was still something significant in her eyes. With that she would get some kind of a reward. Moreover, she also remembered one of the more shared reward. This was being invited to work for the new opening business.

If she could secure a place in that new opening location, Mira was sure that she would make it and had not to worry anymore about her mother's illness.

As her name was called out, Mira walked forward to receive a satchel. She expected that this satchel was at some point filled with cash. Taking a quick peek inside, Mira's eyes started to grow as she saw what was in it. For a commoner, seeing so many gold coins at one place was incredible. She assumed that there were at least 5 gold coins in the satchel. Thinking about this, Mira's face showed a cute smile, which then opened up into a grin.

Having received her reward from the competition, Mira was also invited to the party that would be held. She was warned that in this party, the majority of the people are someone with status. Therefore, she had to work on her cloth, as it was not suited to enter a high end party.

This actually angered Mira, as she got ashamed. What was being told to her was that she was not dressed properly and that she should improve her clothing. It was more an insult than an advice. With anger in her eyes, Mira made her way to a clothing store right after the competition ends and everyone started to leave the area.

Mira had still a few hours left before the meeting would take place, therefore if she hurried up, she would be able to make it to the start of the party and also be a bit more properly dressed.

After the competition is finally over and Margaret announced the finish, Loraine made her way back to her house. After a week having passed, they were finally able to move to their new house together with James. The house was still lacking certain things, however it was currently functional enough that it would not brake. However as the maintenance is rather low in this building there are sections that have to be improved.

Making her way to the closet, Loraine picked a few dresses that would look good on her. Moreover, she also knew that James was not the kind to dress nicely on his own. Therefore she also prepared something for James to wear to the party. In the end, influential people from all over the city would join them. This made it so that entering the place with a badly dressed manner would not do.

Having finally figured something out to dress, Loraine forced James to also wear proper clothing.

Having picked up something decent from a clothing store that was still opened, Mira quickly changed her clothing to meet the standards of the nobles. She was rather sad that she already had to spend a portion of the money to buy something more suitable for a party which would be attended by nobles.

Moreover, being close to other competitors and nobles, Mira thought that it would be the best opportunity to get them to know. With that if something might happen in the future, they at least would be more willing to help out.

Standing in front of the building where the party would take place, Mira was stopped by two guards. These guards had a suspicious look on their face when they were inspecting Mira. However the moment Mira showed a special invitation that she received, the guards instantly made room for her to pass.

Walking into the grand house Mira was taken aback. These was the first time that she entered and participated in a noble's party, or even enter a noble's house. Looking inside, she saw a huge ball room that was covered in various chandeliers. The room was filled with various peoples from the higher ups. Even the judges were part of the party, as they were actually also an important point to the city.

Some smaller pastries were served by the maids that were walking around in the room. Moreover they also offered smaller cups of wine. Seeing how the atmosphere is, Mira was taken aback. This was a huge difference between what she was used to be.

However, as the night is still young, there is still time to work out what to do. Mira hoped that her talents would be discovered by the nobles, or at least by the crew that is opening up store. If that the case, she would not rely on others to do her work and would be able to provide sufficient support to her mother.
