章節 96: Amateur’s Work
Following the judges with excitement, Mira was wondering what they would think about what she presented. As the judges approached the food, they were first smiling as they nodded in agreement. The look and presentation was to their liking. Even though the presentation lacked a bit, the simplicity was still pleasing to the eye.
After writing some comments and notes, the judges took out a fork and picked a piece of the pie. As they tasted the steaming hot pie, they almost simultaneously spit out everything in their mouths. Fury started to build up on their faces. One of the judges shouted out angrily, "Who was the creator of this despicable piece of crap?!" Clearly he was rather furious. Right after saying those words, he grabbed a class of water and washed away the taste in his mouth.
Shocked about what happened Mira froze on the spot. She could hear faint laughter from the audience, who were entertained about the whole process. No one expected to see some influential people in such a sorry state.
One of the attendees walked over to the pie and looked at the number. Comparing it to the list in her hand, she pointed towards where Mira was standing. They found out who the creator of the pie was.
The furious judge shouted to the guards, "Guards! Grab her! She tried to poison us!" Hearing these orders, few of the guards walked forward as they made their way to where Mira was.
Mira was still shocked about everything that was happening. She started to wonder, "What just happened? How is that possible? Why would I poison them?" As she started to think more about what had just happened, she started to get emotional. Tears started to build up as she faintly started to deny the accusations, "No… I… I… I never did poison someone." Speaking those words were rather difficult as she started to sob constantly.
As the scene started to grow bigger and bigger, a woman dressed in red walked forward, "What is happening over here?" She asked with a rather angry yet calm voice.
The judge pointed over to Mira and shouted, "That little b*tch tried to poison us!"
Shocked about this, the woman asked again, "On what is your accusation based upon?"
The judge pointed towards the pie and said, "If you don't believe me. Take a bite out of this thing!"
The woman took a bite out of the pie. As the pie entered her mouth, her face changed in an instant. She knew what went wrong and looked over to Mira. Calling her over to her, she ushered to guards t accompany her.
As Mira stood in front of the lady in red, she looked defeated. The whole event what just happened had affected Mira a lot. Seeing this the woman spoke out with a gentle voice, "Girl, do you know what you did wrong?"
Mira shook her head, as she was lost to what happened. Seeing that, the Woman pointed to two different containers on top of the cooking area and said, "I take it that you can't read. But the one on is 'salt' while the other is 'sugar'. I take it that you mixed those up when making your pie. And as you cannot read, you made the mistaking over using the wrong one."
Hearing those words, Mira was in disbelieving. It was true that she was not able to read or write, however she never expected that she would make such a grave mistake. Not being able to believe what she just heard, she took out a fork and looked at the lady as if she was asking for permission. As the woman nodded, she took a bite of the pie. Just like the others, her face darkened, as the taste of the pie burned inside of her mouth. It tasted so bitter that her mouth started to feel numb. She indeed mistook the salt for sugar, and with that almost poisoned the judges.
Feeling ashamed that she did not taste the ingredients beforehand, she bowed and apologized from both the judges and the presenter of the competition.
"As this is all a big misunderstanding, I hope that you can forgive her amateurish mistake. We cannot eliminate her from the competition for this mistake, however this does mean that you can be stricter with judging in the future." The presenter said with a smile on her face.
Seeing that Mira indeed had no ill intentions towards them, the judges calmed down as they did not want to argue with the presenter. They indeed would start to become stricter about judging the pieces made by Mira. With that, they continued to mark the pie. However it was clear that outside of the presentation, she would get no points for the pie at all.
This made Mira sad, yet she was happy that she did not get prosecuted because of this. She was still in the game and had to work double as hard in order to make up for her mistake.

With that out of the way, the first round ended without other hassle. At the bottom of the list were the cooks who were not able to finish their product in time. They were directly followed by Mira who was only able score some points from the presentation section.
Daisy and Michel, who were also in the preliminary round as Mira, where in the top 5, together with Bob, Aiza and Aysun. Out of them, Aysun was the one finished first in this round, followed by Daisy and Bob to form the top 3.
It was now time to slowly prepare for the second round.
