As they exited the shack, they were greeted by a mass. They were all there to support Mira for the upcoming competition. During these past few days, Mira was able to get a certain backing from her neighbors. Moreover, people also wanted to support someone from their district. Even if that was the slums. It brought hope in the eyes and hearts of the surrounding.
Mira was a beacon of hope for the rest who lived in the slums. That one day they would also be able to make it out of there and get recognized by the masses.
Surprised by all this, Mira felt her emotions taking over. Not being able to control herself, she felt that tears started to drop as she was surveying the people standing there. She heard shouts such as, "Cone on Mira!" and "You can do it, we believe in you!"

"There is even more people that I had expected." Said Loraine in a shock to James. Clearly no one had expected that the competition would actually draw the attention of this many citizens. Even high officials within the city were present to enjoy the competition.
Looking around, Loraine saw that both Alice and Margret were talking with some neatly dressed people. She had heard from Alice that those cloths were mostly worn by influential personal within the city. Some were even well known merchants.
As her eyes were scanning around, her eyes met those of Alice, who directly made a sign for her to come over. She was accompanied by a few other people. Two of which were neatly dressed in the attire of the city.
Being used to nobles' gatherings, Loraine did not feel any problem as she was walking over to the group. She was pretty accustomed in the way to speak to such groups and was actually accompanied by these people. So she actually knew how their culture worked.
However the ones that made her worry the most were the merchants. They were still a group that she had not much knowledge about. Because of this, she was wearier of them, rather than the officials. This was also noticeable in her speech. When talking with the city officials, Loraine was more at ease compared to talking with the merchants.
Out of the conversation, Loraine got to know several nobles within the city as well as get to know the directors of various chambers of commerce within the city. Some where even willing to sponsor her new shop.
Noticing that the conversation turned to business, Alice stepped in and stopped it from happening. It seemed as if she was scared that she would lose her partner if the other parties would come with better offers.
As for James, he saw some other knights. He talked a bit about swordsmanship and various techniques they used. However as Valencia is a city of commerce, there were not many knights available. Even the ones he met did not live in Valencia. They were stationed there, or lived with their relatives for the moment.
He even heard rumors that some knights even took some mercenary work with protecting the wealthier merchants in Valencia. As the last war happened some time back, and most knights did not like the cold weather in Hermes, they looked for other alternatives to get some money.

After a moment, the time was drawing closer to the competition. At that point the central square of the city was so full, that there was barely any space to move. Luckily for the ranked citizens, special locations where created for them. Moreover the competing chefs also had their own place to work at.
Being the overall presenter, it was Margret who walked forward. She was dressed as if the was attending a ball. However given the situation and the current popularity of the event, it sure looked as if it was a grand ball. One that the kingdom has never seen before.
Entering the podium like structure, Margret spoke up, "Welcome citizens of the beautiful city of Valencia."The moment Margret spoke up, the crowd, who was muttering between them, all became silent and listened carefully to Margret. "I am proud to announce the first ever cooking competition held here in Valencia." With those words, the crowd started to cheer. It was clear that the people living in Valencia where a proud one and loved their city a lot.
Margret continued, "As everyone is anxious for the competition, I welcome you the competitors." With that, Margret presented them all one at the time, in order to build up an even greater hype. It seemed as if Margret was born to present.
As the competitors walked onto the stage and first showed their respects to the nobles, they took their station on the platform. Every cook had their own station, which was filled with various ingredients suited to make various pastries.
During that moment, Margret also explained how the competition would work. The competition would exist out of three rounds. In the first round, every competitor had to make a product out of a list. Of course, they were allowed to add their own twist to it.
The second round, they all had to follow a single recipe. To make it more competitive, the winner of the first round could pick which one to make for the second round.
As for the last round, the competitors had to make something unique, which was not listed and something that no one had ever seen before.
The winner would be determined with a point system, where the one with the highest points from all three rounds would become the winner.
Having explained all this to both the citizens as well as the competitors, Margret wished everyone luck before starting off the competition.

Hello Everyone
As we are getting closer to chapter 100, I want to write a special chapter
For this I was thinking of making an "interactive" chapter
-The idea-
I will incorporate as much words as possible from the comments. Starting from chapter 89 till chapter 95
Example, if someone says "Black bird", I will try to add that into the story... maybe they see a black bird
--Note--
To prevent 1 person filling in the whole chapter, I will take 1 comment per user (per chapter)
