Shocked about what he heard, James' father staggered a few feet back. "What did you say?" he asked in disbelieve. It was clear that what James had said came as a surprise to both his parents.
"I have decided to leave the city together with Loraine." James repeated what he had said previously. He continued to explain his reason behind this sudden decision, "Apparently the head of the Bloom family has decided to marry Loraine off to someone else. He has totally ignored the promise he made to us. This also will hinder our family's growth. Therefore I have decided to flee the city together with Loraine. Hoping that one day he will finally recognize that Loraine belongs to me." As every word left James' mouth, his determination grew stronger and stronger.
The parents suffered another shock with what James explained. They were equally surprised at the fact that the head of the Bloom family, who previously promised that the two could marry, is no against the whole marriage.
Understanding the feeling that James had, his father walked forward saying, "I totally understand the reason behind your decision. However is it not better to first confront the head of the Bloom family before making such a rash decision?"
"I fear that there is no time. Even if I did, I am sure that he will just ignore us." James said. As anger started to build up in his eyes he continued, "I am sure that he will also start to ridicule us for being a small family. They always throw us to the side when they see it fit."
Hearing these words, the understanding in the eyes of James' father became clear. "If you have decided, then we cannot stop you. I will try my best to support you from far away. However do not expect much help." He said as he was walking towards James.
Hearing this, James showed a smile and said, "Well, there is something that I can use your help with. From the reward ceremony I received a bit of land. I would ask you to take care of this land instead of me. I would be away and not able to manage it. The one I trust with this matter is you."
"Don't worry about such trivial matter." James' father said as he stood in front of James.
Opening up his arms, he hugged James as he said, "Just take care of yourself. And make sure to notify us if something happens."
Accepting the hug, James embraced his father back before turning towards his mother. She was already waiting with open arms for James to come. As they hugged, they bit their farewells. Before James left the room, he turned around and picked up the bag that he was preparing for the journey ahead. The bag was filled with some simple cloths as well as the necessary money to make a new start with Loraine.
With everything ready, James made his way outside of the building towards the stable where his horse was put. Saddling up, he looked one more time back to the mansion. This place had many memories for James, which he now had to leave it behind him and focus on the journey ahead.
His next destination was the meeting spot that he had arranged with Loraine.
