章節 26: The Prince is Back
Several days passed by. This time, everyone was more eager to work. This was also the case for James. During these past few days, James continued with helping in the infirmary. Moreover he also had a few cases that he had to patrol on top of the walls.
Because the prince's situation got better, he was transported back to the barracks where he could rest a lot easier. The situation looked better for the soldiers in Hermes. The majority of the injured, from the battle against the hybrids, started to get back to their feet after quite some time of rest.
Inside the infirmary, James, together with Francis, was attending to one of the knights who got injured. This knight is the son of Francis' family's neighboring lord. Because of this Francis wanted to personally attend his injuries. As James has a good relation with Francis, he decided to stick around and also help him.
Looking up to the knights who were attending him, the injured night spoke up, "Thank you Francis. Even though our parents are rivals, I am glad that you decided to help me out."
Hearing these words, Francis looked at the night and responded, "Don't even mention it Kaleb. In here, we are all brother in arms. I do not care what my old man thinks about your dad." Thinking about the situation a bit, Francis continued, "And who knows, maybe after we make it back, we might improve the relationship between our families. Finally bringing an end to the rivalry."
Kaleb responded, "Yes, I think that is a good idea. Let's make it out here alive and fix our families problems together."
As James barely knew Kaleb, he decided not to intervene with their conversation. Poking Francis James said smiling, "I think that I will return to the barracks. I will leave you two to chat. Maybe you can start making plans on how you will handle the family issues." With those words, James turned around and left the infirmary towards the barracks.

As James arrived at the barrack, there was a crowd gathering up in the courtyard. Curious about what was happening over there, he noticed several judgment army soldiers forming a circle. There was also a carriage in the middle of the field. The carriage was decorated with gold designs. The symbol of the church was noticeable on the carriage. It was clearly that a high ranking member of the church came to the barracks to visit the prince.
Just as James walked up to a soldier to ask who had come over, he heard a shout call out from the balcony, "Everyone! Be silence and form up! The prince is awake and will speak!"
Looking up, James could see that the one that gave these orders was Sir Edward. Behind him, the prince was standing. He still had some difficulty standing on his own, and had to get some support from his surroundings. Moreover, archbishop Mayne was also there, standing at the side of Prince Gerald.
As Prince Gerald moved forward with the help of some knights, he looked down to the courtyard. There was a faint smile visible on his face. Prince Gerald had difficulty speaking, yet he decided to address his soldiers, "My people! My brothers! I am glad to be leading you!" Catching up his breath Gerald continued, "I have heard from Sir Edward what you all did, and I am happy to be able to call you all, my brother!" The difficulty Prince Gerald was in could be easily seen by everyone in the courtyard. Yet Gerald decided to continue on, "As you all have noticed, I am still not fully healed. Therefore I would excuse myself as I will retreat and get some rest. As for the fight and defense of Hermes, until I get better, Sir Edward will lead you all into battle!"
Having spoken those words, Prince Gerald did not wait for any response as he turned around and walked back in. The archbishop also followed close behind him. The only one left was Sir Edward.
