It was so large that it looked like a banyan tree but it wasn't. On keen observation it looked more like a mango tree in spring with small mango flowers. On the left side if the painting, there was a river which seemed to be endless. Right at the shore of the river was the tree situated. On the right side of the tree, at some distance from it was a house, rather a hut made up of wood and mud situated. The hut looked so wretched that it seemed it would reduce to a pile of mud and wood with the least agitation. Other than this, nothing else was present there. Only endless stretches of barren land. Not a single human, animal, plant or even houses and non living objects were not present there. Just the house, the tree and the river. Probably that is why the azure blue sky looked especially huge and the barren land stretching up to miles.
The painting could be summarized as dull and lifeless. But to Lili's eyes, it was weirdly melancholic and painful but at the same time hope and beauty. Lili was never fond of paintings. Especially modern art like this was generally out of Lili's league. Yet to Lili, this painting was, in short a master- piece.
"Poor me getting suffocated between two intellectual minds staring at a lifeless painting with such awe, that as if they've seen the eight wonder of the world", Genea shook her head as she finally decided to talk when she saw Lili only to join Aaron in getting lost and not waking up Aaron from his reverie.
This jolted Lili and Aaron back to reality and both of them turned to look at Genea. Lili smiled slightly at her where as Aaron still looked at Genea with blank eyes.
"Sir, Miss.. do you like my painting? If you want to have a closer look at it, I would bring it down to you. May I?", said a young boy who seemed to be of the same age as theirs. He was in charge of the stall and eagerly asked Lili and Aaron as they were the first and the only ones who had taken interest in his work.
Aaron once again turned to look at the painting and simply asked the boy,"Have you drawn it Sir?"
The boy, when saw the group still standing at his stall and asking more about his painting, was elated and so he brought the painting down and handed it over to Aaron. He then said, "Yes sir, it is. It is actually based on a legend."
"Is it the legend of Crystalden?", Lili piped in on listening the boy's words. Suddenly she felt that Aaron stiffened and so turned to look at Aaron curiously. Aaron too looked at Lili right at that moment, and for a fraction of a second, she saw raging but suppressed emotions in Aaron's eyes. But before she could observe it properly, his eyes got back their original calmness.
"How do you know?", Aaron asked curiously to Lili.
"I just guessed. I have heard about the legend somewhere", replied Lili.
"And what have you heard?" Aaron asked again with a little hope in his voice, which was misinterpreted by Lili as hope for learning more about the painting, when actually it was the hope for Lili remembering something from her past life.
"I don't remember, I don't really pay much importance to such fables.", replied Lili somewhat ashamed.
To this, the boy at the stall replied, "Well Miss I think you should know about this legend though, because my grandmother has told me that this is most likely to have really happened in the history and not just some folklore."
