This gave Lili the opportunity to get her mind wander here and there as she looked around the cafeteria. Bored, she decided to look outside of the window where her eyes were greeted by a beautiful garden.
It was spring, so most of the flowers were blooming, the fruits in the trees were mostly ripened. The bright sun in the clear sky added to the beauty of the scene. All in all, it looked so beautiful that she was completely lost.
"Hello, are you in the first year?"
Lili, a little startled by the sudden sound, turned her head, a puzzled look on her face.
"I mean, are you new to this school too?"
That is when she realised, a boy sitting in front of her was trying to chat with her.
"Oh..yeah".
Lili maintained her cold and silent demeanor.
The boy was ghostly fair, his pink lips a sharp contrast to his complexion. He looked tenderly at Lili with his hazelnut eyes, seeming quite interested in making friends or more than just 'friends' with Lili.
Lili was naturally uncomfortable. She had never been much good at people and has always loved to live in her own peace bubble which contains her books and her favourite songs along with her mother and Genea. Moreover, this boy looked with so much anticipation in his eyes for who knows what and talked to her with so much politeness, that she fell short of words.
"Aren't you eating anything?"
"I..."
She felt embarrassed and shifted uncomfortably on her seat.
"Excuse me, I am sharing this table with my friend. If you please don't mind.."
Genea's clear voice was heard as she gestured the boy to leave. Luckily the tables had only two seats and they were fixed, so the boy could not persuade to let him stay. Moreover, Lili did not protest against Genea, rather, somehow, she seemed to be saved by her, so he had no other option but to leave.
"He was a bore, wasn't he", scoffed Genea after the boy made his way out.
Genea was well acquainted with Lili's likes and dislikes. She knew Lili doesn't like to talk much. It's not like she doesn't like making new friends but she isn't very fond of those who were too much talkative or too much overboard with everything around them. That was why perhaps, Lili was outcasted by most of her peers because all of them got bored of her.
When Genea saw the cheesy boy with an everlasting grin plastered on his face, was pestering her, she came to Lili's rescue.
"Yeah a bit..or.. maybe I was the one"
"You were what?"
"The bore..you know"
"Oh come on Lili, you ought to accept your own self in your own way buddy. How can you loathe yourself to this point man?"
Genea was naturally agitated as she revisited her old days with Lili and she had to listen to her self loathing comments once again.
Though, they were in pre school then and they could have a very small time together, but still she could remember Lili and her choices. The reason for this was probably the closeness they had between them.
"Hehehee. Okay I'll t..r..y.."
"What?"
Genea looked inquisitively at Lili.
"Whaatt?"
Genea couldn't help but raise her voice and even patted Lili's palms gently.
When she met with a complete silence once again and found Lili's gaze stillied to one spot behind her back, she couldn't hold her inquisitiveness back and turned around to follow Lili's gaze.
Lili: "..."
Genea: "..."
All they got in return was the strong glare of a boy with dashing face which had a slight tint of red, probably due to fury.
The boy looked so frightening that though the girls shuddered, they couldn't move an inch, as if they were caught in some spell and continued to stare back with wide eyes.
Though Genea couldn't identify the frightening yet strikingly handsome face, Lili could do so just in a blink of an eye.
