Three weeks quickly went by and the day of the eliminations started.
The training grounds changed a lot; there were now twenty smaller stages raised forming a circle.
Principal Xiao gave a small talk before taking a huge box out of his storage ring. With everyone silent, he put his hand inside and took out a small piece of paper out.
His face suddenly turned awkward.
"The first spot goes to… Marcus. You can go up on one of the stages."
"Haha…!"
With Deon laughing behind him, Marcus made his way to the stage. Everyone was silent, most didn't care, some looked at him with pity, some with malice but Marcus didn't care. He knew the reason for their reactions, but to him it meant nothing.
If someone is picked at the very beginning, if they want to get a spot, they will have to hold on for a whole day. Because of this as the day goes on fights will be only getting harder and harder. Fight after fight you will grow more tired, and your enemies will come on coming.
Because how it is organized the strongest will only start to participate at the end of the day. And with you tired out after the whole day, they will have an easy time to get the spot and then hold it until the day.
But this only applies to others, Marcus could stay on that stage for weeks before he gets tired. After each fight, the one defending the spot is given ten minutes to rest. This is more than enough for Marcus restore his energy back to full.
In the eliminations there is no point to risk it and fight close quarters, so he will use his lightning to finish all of the fights quickly.
It didn't take long for the rest of the people to be selected, and when everyone turned their attention to the stages, they froze.
Marcus, the very first person to be selected, was sitting on the ground, with his eyes closed he was eating a blue fruit.
Looking at other people on the stages, they were standing, some nervous, some determine, some seemed like they give up already, but none of them looked relaxed like Marcus.
"You truly are arrogant."
With the start of the eliminations, someone jumped up the stage and faced Marcus.
His wicked smile showed that he was looking down on Marcus. A teacher arrived quickly and explained basic rules.
"Are you both ready?"
"Yes." "Yes." Hearing Marcus response the teacher looked at him with a weird expression.
Seeing this Marcus realized what the teacher was thinking.
"I can start like this." Saying this to the teacher Marcus looked at his opponent, his face became furious.
"You can start the fight." The teacher took a few steps back and focused his attention entirely on the fight.
Marcus remains unmoved and only continued to look at his opponent.
"Arrogant. I will…"
Before he could finish his words, thick lightning hit his chest.
RUMBLE!
With the sound of the thunder, Marcus's opponent flew out of the stage. Everyone froze, Marcus was still sitting in the same spot, everyone who was looking at the fight knew, that Marcus didn't move a single bit! Lightning shot out of his body and hit his opponent! Nothing else!
The teacher was equally surprised as everyone else, checking that Marcus's opponent was okay, he announced Marcus to be the winner.
Everyone watching was dumbfounded, his opponent was a stage seven expert, yet he was defeated in one shot. How powerful is Marcus? No matter what technique they used no one was able to find his cultivation.
Marcus used very little of his energy, and in a matter of seconds, he was able to recover all of it. In the last three weeks, he was constantly eating fruits with lightning attribute energy, and the Hunters Guild brought him more every week.
His energy was getting bigger every second; he was constantly eating fruits, pills, plants filled with lighting attribute energy.
Ten minutes is a very short time, and another opponent was already in front of Marcus. She was a stage eight expert; her expression was filled with confidence.
Looking at her Marcus was unfazed, her confidence didn't matter to him, with the teacher announcing the start of the fight, she didn't wait and immediately dashed towards Marcus.
Soon her vision was filled with blue light, and she lost consciousness.
It was the same situation as in the previous fight, Marcus sitting and his opponent flying out of the stage.
Xiao Mei was looking at Marcus, seeing how he was able to defeat a stage eight expert so quickly she already knew that no one except for her could rival him. But she didn't have full confidence in beating him; there was just not enough information on him.
After three weeks of observation, there was nothing useful found. He didn't show his cultivation at all, talked only with one person form the Hunters Guild Training Program, and ate fruits constantly. For three weeks straight, he did nothing else.
Today she realized how strong he is. Sending down an order to not attempt to take his spot, she waited until there was an hour left. Through the whole day, Marcus fought more than a dozen of times, always with the same result. At this point, no one was training to fight him anymore.
With only an hour left, the true eliminations will start. The strongest in the whole school began to fight and take spots, and soon most of them were in the hands of Genius Class and Hunters Guild Training Program. Everyone on stage had the cultivation of minimum stage eight, with three people stage nine, and one person with unknown cultivation.
Today will also be determined who will be fighting who tomorrow. Seeing the board, Xiao Mei was surprised and satisfied. Marcus will have to fight two stage nine experts to get to the finals where he will have to fight her.
This means that she will have an easy time getting to the finals with only stage eight experts to defeat.
It looks like luck is on her side.
