not really, that "random jon" would need to know mind defense magic or the magic in the crown will make him use the wish in a way that the user gets is his what he most wants (as explained by the who created the crown, which is why the crown was giving ice magic to the rest of users, and why Betty could only use the wish in a "smart" manner to defeat golb being keeping Simon safe) or his deepest wish be the defeat of golb.
As for Betty, I cannot and do not want to do anything to prevent her from leaving, she is very important for the defeat of GOLB, and I have only known her for a day

Nah, this is not about "unexplored" things, the author is trying to make the character relevant at all cost via power boosts that doesn't make sense, pulling down mc intelligence, and a bunch of other things. she's not likeable, her way of being at "mc level" (well, the author trying to make her closer to that) and the fact that this was not "explored" in the original story is because she was meant to be a completely one shot, she appeared as a "wonder Woman", she fights, she dies, her character and entire existence is that, basically like inmortal who is pathetic and is dying all the time.
'Maybe I should go back home and try the trials…' It was a risky idea. Going back risked her freedom and she doubted her mother would let her run away again but it was also an opportunity to release the true strength of her heritage. Yes if she had access to her essence then Omniman wouldn't have been an unbeatable wall.
