Nah they been around awhile, Aerion 'Brightflame' Targaryen joined them and he was born and died long before Oberyn was born.
I am upset he did not mention his intentions but it may also be that he did not know he was going to until he got there. They say he did little damage and got control of the city easily, order is kept by some Dornish men and Lys is open to trade and business once more. It almost seems like he just showed up and took it without a fight but I know that is not the case since he apparently burned a sellsword company to ashes... I think they went by Second Sons or something.

Nova, this 'handsome silver-haired devil' offered me another chance at life and I obviously accepted because why the hell not? I was given a wheel to spin and my first two rolls gave me two gifts that made my body ache in pain. pain at missing the better gifts for some subpar run-of-the-mill cannon fodder abilities. Well they are not that bad but I missed some cool stuff like Incursio and Mystic eyes of death perception.

You are underestimating the threat he is to the whole of Westeros as the Prince of Dorne who has three dragons at his command. Everyone and there Mothers would throw there Daughters at him at this point, doesn't matter what social norms are for this time period when he is in the position he is in.
